AMD is set to launch its next-generation graphic processors this coming fall and it is shaping up to be more than expected with use of XDR2 memory interface.

Based on a leaked road-map, AMD will be releasing their new GPUs in Q4 for the upcoming holiday season. The GPUs will start with four different GPUs based on the 28nm version of the VLIW4 (Very Long Instruction Word) architecture. The four GPUs will be equipped with 768 to 1536 Radeon cores (stream processors) and GDDR5 memory.

Not RDRam again, great performance, high cost. Is it justified?

They probably made some kind of a deal.
I'm sure even rambus has learned trough the years.

1st.: I bet there will be GDDR3 and GDDR5 versions for low cost.
2nd.: Mining doesn't require high memory bandwith.

1.I'd bet no considering the GCN variant is the only 7900 series that will sport XDR and more than likely was built around the new architecture.

2.True,but GPUs aren't made for just mining.

I'd like to note that the 7900 series and all of the new cards with the new die shink will definitely cost a premium considering TSMC is carry up the price (http://www.xbitlabs.com/news/other/display/20110912192619_TSMC_Reportedly_Hikes_Pricing_on_28nm_Wafers_Due_to_Increased_Demand.html) due to demand.

What!?  Rambus is back from the dead?  They must have cut a sweet deal with AMD.  As in razor thin profit margin deal, because nobody wanted Rambus.

Anyone have a guesstimate on M/Hash rates?

Anyone have a guesstimate on M/Hash rates?

Maybe 900 Mhash/s
