It's like a wannabe thug going up to the president and calling him "dawg."

Yes. They weren't allowed to say "fuck" on the radio, and The Man even tried keeping them from saying it in songs for albums and concerts. Oy, the persecution. I've heard it theorized that prison rap is misunderstood and was actually created by prison corporations to increase the number of inmates. OTOH, the theory may just be a fabrication to make gang rape look uncool. It's anyone's guess, really.
