Post by: Wendigo on June 05, 2018, 05:53:51 AM
Less than 10 days left until the FIFA World Cup 2018 held in Russia officially starts. This thread is dedicated to the biggest international football competition and will feature the most interesting, funny, controversial, unfortunate and in-between moments throughout the competition and, of course, there will be some predictions sprinkled around for your viewing pleasure  ;D

I'm still struggling to find a sports package I can afford since my national TV will only broadcast very few games, towards the finals and with local commentary and poor quality which I don't really enjoy.

Anyone know a good place to buy streaming packages of high quality English language? Searching online isn't very helpful or I don't know how to find them.

in big parties like the world cup, there is no need to wait for the best online gambling site, since gambling traditionally by betting directly on people who want to bet will be very easy to find. and I'm waiting for it. I also like football, so I like to analyze myself, do not have to wait everything from the internet.
I am very excited  ;D

Anybody thinking about having a bet on the top scorer for the tournament?
I was thinking about having a bit of a long shot which has good odds like Suarez, Firmino or Gabriel Jesus. Even Thomas Muller has some nice odds.

I think it’s too obvious to go for the likes of Messi, it never works out that way any way.

I'm still thinking about it , I may actually go for James Rodríguez
the thing about the top scorer is that you should look at both the price and the teams competing in group stage , and it looks like an easy group when you look to Colombia group since the teams are kinda weak and not defensive so we should expect goals
that's what bookieinsiders also mentioned , and the price of James is 75/1 which is really a decent shot

if talking about the top scorer chances I think Thomas Muller has a great chance, considering the typical German game is quite interesting with a lot of very classy midfielders. but it will all return to the luck of Muller

I'm loving the excitement and buildup towards the World Cup, do you'll feel Ramos could be booed what he did to Salah and Liverpool keeper? Both of them suffered injuries and Ramos latest statement was bit harsh. It's really difficult to pick a top goal scorer so early, will prefer to wait and watch before I decide to pick one.

So my picks are Spain, Germany, France what about you'll?

Bringing my thread back to life!
Been busy with life and watching the World Cup  :D What an interesting week with lots of surprising results that was!
Going to give my opinion on the remaining games and hopefully guess the correct World Cup winner haha  ;D

Bet of the day tomorrow - Germany to win vs Sweden @1.5. Germany -1 AH is a nice choice as well.
I think the Germans will be all over Sweden firing on all cylinders. After that shameful display vs Mexico they have to get the win in order to avoid elimination in the group stage of the tournament. They started slow and looked very passive without a good idea of how to score and got destroyed by the Mexican counter attacks. I think they have taken notes of that defeat and will come out very motivated on the pitch tomorrow. Sweden is an okay team but they lack the class and skills of the German football stars.

Alternative bet - Mexico to win vs South Korea @ 1.7 Mexico surprised me a lot. Very fast play and deadly on the counter attacks. Chicharito could have scored a hat trick had he been more accurate with his finishing shots. Mexico looked confident and played well. I expect them to carry on with their performance vs South Korea. Unless the Asians park the bus the whole match Mexico should be able to win the game.

That's for now. Good luck and have fun  8)

Disclaimer: this World Cup has been absolutely crazy so don't bet more than what you can afford to lose on the favorites. Just don't  ;)
Cheers!

Same with me, the number of upsets in this world cup has been too many and has done a lot of damage to my gambling because i keep loosing this time around because of the uncertainty of this world cup and so i put my gambling on hold until the quarter finals where we will see the likely to win teams emerging.

Adding my 3rd bet for the day. I have been mulling over what to bet in the Belgium - Tunisia match. Belgium have fantastic footballers and to me they are probably the dark horse of the tournament. So much talent on all positions and on the bench as well. They should win today's match with ease. The odds for an outright win are kinda low though so I will choose something different. I think Tunisia will try to slow the match down in the first half and hope for the best. 2nd half might get the most action. I will try Belgium to win & 2nd half with the most goals. GL & HF  :D

Belgium did great, 5 - 2. Tunisia did also pretty decent, the difference in level is was too big in this one, Belgium was pretty offensive and this opened some opportunities for Tunisia to explain these gaps and find 2 goals.

Overall a good match from spectator POV.

At this early stage my TOP 3 are:

Germany
Brazil
Spain

Germany has always solid players, Brazil will recover I think Neymar will get better, Spain will also start showing a better game similar to 2010 and will have a chance. I leave Argentina out unfortunately.

I wouldn't exclude Argentina just yet if I were you. They could bash Nigeria in the next match and gather enough points for 2nd place.
My favorites are Belgium Croatia and France.

My first pick is Belgium. I think they have no weak brinks in their team and have a great team spirit combined with attacking prowess.
Croatia have possibly the best midfielders in the world right now. They have a very experienced team and a powerful attack as well. Dismantled a disgraced Argentina without breaking a sweat.
France have the most expensive team in the world. Amazing individualists and not much of team players. If they manage to band together more and play as a team France could easily overpower anyone even Brazil.

Brazil and Argentina are not stable enough. Spain have an emergency coach. England play well but something is lacking. Germany seem very tired and uninspired. Portugal rely too much on Ronaldo.

My 2 cents.

maybe you can register at rojadirecta. and make a purchase of a premium account. so you will get a complete channel even an official broadcast is available there. I have not tried it for FIFA WORLD CUP. but I used to try the LA-LIGA channel and it proved to broadcast all the matches

Oh man the Germans are so lucky wow. I think this is the latest goal scored by a German footballer during a World Cup competition. 94th minute. They really deserved that win though so big props for them being a man down.

And by the way if you are looking for a place to watch the World Cup for free Sportsbet.io has streams of the matches.

You haven't mentioned the most important thing. Your location. Unless we know where you reside, it is impossible to give any advice. In some countries, streaming is available from multiple sources, while in some others none is available.

All major national television stations are broadcasting the World Cup for free. Have you checked your local TV stations? If none is covering the World Cup that would be very odd by the way.

Onto today's matches. Japan - Panama. I think England will win this one comfortably. I like Harry Kane to score a goal today.

Japan - Senegal. Japan and Senegal beat the favorites surprisingly and whoever wins today qualifies for the next round. I think both teams will try to not lose and play carefully. I am going with HT 0-0 and FT draw.

Poland - Colombia. The group favorites are facing each other today. I am going to bet on Poland due to the much higher odds of 3.70. I think the game could go either way so I am betting on the higher odds. Also Poland 0.5 AH for more safety.

I don't think you need to pay to watch World Cup it's broadcast for free on all channels or speak with your cable guys they should be able to handle it for you. I have never heard that you need to pay for it, so I think you should just keep calm and figure it out.

I don't think both will play for a draw a 1 -0 result looks promising but I don't feel comfortable on guessing who it'll be.

Poland is everyone's favourite hope they live up to it.

I got 2 of my predictions right today ( the 0-0 HT result in the Japan - Senegal match was wrong but the FT bet made up for it) and I was way off with my Poland hunch lol  ;D To be honest I think Poland is the worst European team and apparently Lewandowski unlike Ronaldo can't carry the Polish team on his shoulders alone.

They have many good players that are rated high but they just can't work well together. For instance to buy Lewandowski you'd have to trade half of the Senegal's team, but they managed to win. It proves that it's all a gamble and you can't really predict the outcome based on the team's rating.

The problem is that Robert Lewandowski can't be compared with Cristiano Ronaldo. I would rate the latter as the best player in the world right now and he can single-handedly guide his team to a win against major opponents. But Lewandowski doesn't have that talent.

I think Robert Lewandowski is the footballer who scored the most goals for Poland in the qualifying for the World Cup and he is also the all-time leading goal scorer for his country. He actually set a new goalscoring record with his 16 goals. Unfortunately for him and his team he has problems showing up in big games apparently. The whole team looked awful though and a lot has changed since Euro 2016.

It is England vs Panama today and let’s sees for a tough match and interesting match because after the match of Argentina vs Croatia we can not say about the dominancy anymore because that was an upset. Now today it is going to be an interesting match between England and Panama and especially the audience is very energetic about this game, I will watch on TV and will enjoy it.

Some highlights for the Iceland - Croatia match. Reportedly the manager of the Croatia national football team is going to rest some key players for tonight's game. Flashscore is showing 7 players. I am not sure how true that information is but I think given the circumstances Iceland might score a goal or even get a point or 3 from the match at best. Maybe Croatia will not play very hard and give them a pass who knows. I for sure will have a couple of bets going on Iceland most likely in the goal and AH markets. Cheers guys  ;)

It can be hard for Iceland to perform well against Croatia, after their brutal loss to Nigeria. And I am sure that Argentina will not qualify for the next round, as long as Jorge Sampolli remains as their coach.

That remains to be seen. Nigeria, Iceland and Argentina all have chances to advance to Round of 16. Nigeria needs a draw while Iceland and Argentina need wins. The most unrealistic scenario tonight would be Iceland winning their match and Argentina drawing theirs which would send the Vikings to the next round. I am rooting for Iceland either way  :D I don't think it's the manager's fault that Argentina are playing so bad but the players'. However Iceland would need to beat Croatia with at least a 3 goal difference which is borderline impossible haha  ;D

Group D is very interesting Croatia already qualified for next round and remaining 3 teams have a chance to take 2nd place in the group. only a few hours left Argentina have a last chance to stay alive in this tournament I think this is Messi last world cup match. I have full confidence that they can give up and go home.

Don Diego Maradona luckily spared himself a heart attack in the stands lol. I think France will tear them a new one in the next round though.

Including Portugal on the first place in FIFA world cup because they seem in more spirit and the club of Ronaldo has been the champion of many times previously. So they are in good position and the recent FIFA matches also proving its ability and potential. We can not say that which one team will win but I choose Portugal as my best team but I see Brazil as well besides Portugal.

A very dramatic day awaits us today with more crucial final matches in the Groups F & E of the FIFA World Cup 2018 in Russia.
Mexico is leading Group F with 6 points from 2 wins. Germany & Sweden have 3 points each. I expect Germany to win vs South Korea today and Mexico to not lose vs Sweden. Germany -2 and Mexico +0 are my choices. I will wait for more news and post picks for the later matches as well.

What a shocker today will be if Germany can not defeat the Koreans who are such a poor team.
I dont even think S. Korea would be able to score on the championship German team but maybe today on this one.

What a thrilling match and all credits go to Rojo, man where did you come from you made Argentina proud in this match. yes Nigeria had a chance to get one more penalty at the end but referee not given bad luck for Nigeria. I thought Argentina will go home but they are really lucky qualified for next round congrats.

He can go for an IP tunnel if ever that his location is unable to be streaming, and if he is currently have a international channel he can request for a provider for a sports channel FIFA World Cup is big and I doubt that any sports channel won't be playing each game of the series even some local sports channel will be playing most of the game.

Messi's goal was amazing, the way he balanced the ball, excellent control while in motion then the aim to score it between the goalkeeper's hands, insane. Maybe Messi can recover from all the criticisms he's had, he was falling into pressure, let's hope this is the beginning of a better Argentina.

I would like to see Portugal vs Argentina to see Cristiano vs Messi, that would be awesome for all football fans, even if your country is not involved in the match.

Holy smokes this World Cup is going absolutely crazy! South Korea played for their honor with grit and determination and threw out a very weak Germany. I have no words. And on top of that Sweden defeated Mexico 3-0 and finished in the first place of the group. Fascinating  :o
My predictions are way off today haha.

We have 2 matches in Group E tonight. Serbia - Brazil & Switzerland - Costa Rica. Brazil and the Swiss have 4 points and the Serbs have 3. Serbia have to win their match in order to advance further. I am gonna play Brazil to win & both teams to score. I like BTTS in the 2nd game. Good luck everyone!

The curse of previous world cup title holders have affected Germany's team today after it had hit Italy and France previously and we certainly will miss the stars of the team who would have certainly entertained millions of fans who are cheering for them.
Not a very interesting day for today's matchs except for the groupe H holding Columbia and Senegal who are still fighting for making the last 16 .
We'll certainly wait for Sadio Mané to make the show who will be leading Senegal's attack , matches by James Rodriguez who'll lead Colombia's especially that he was the play maker of Colombia's last 2 goals .
All group H's games have ended over 2.5 and you can bet on today's games on Sportsbet.io !

Damn Argentina what lucky schmucks you are  ;D And that Turkish referee blatantly supported Argentina in the last 20 minutes or so after Rojo handled the ball in the penalty area. Don Diego Maradona luckily spared himself a heart attack in the stands lol. I think France will tear them a new one in the next round though.

Referees were below par during this edition of the world cup. Remember the Switzerland vs Serbia match? It was a complete sham. Serbia was denied a penalty kick. And after the win, the Swiss players (of Kosovan origin) insulted the Serbian fans by doing racist gestures. But FIFA was perfectly OK with all this and they let off the players with a warning.

World cup curse never breaks and always repeats, such as Spain as the previous defending champion in 2010 could be defeated in the Brazil world cup four years ago, this time Germany exposed the world cup curse and stalled in group stage in 2018 World Cup Russia, this adds History of defending champion cup the world will certainly feel the curse.

Germany has not been the same since Khan and  Schweinsteiger left, they were the leaders of the team, well obviously the were still doing good post Khan but lately this team is just not performing the same. They have Kloos but the whole team is not as efficient.

Croatia is now one of my favorites. It's playing solid, and Modric is on fire. Very crazy tournament overall with absolutely no clear #1 contender. Very exciting. Not so good if you are into safe betting tho.

england players are so happy with the loss against Belgium tonight they knew that getting 2nd place will made them avoid big teams there will be only Spain or Croitia will be a threat for them in semi finals. While in my opinion the most difficult way is the road of Argentina as in the stage of 1/ 16Argentina will face France and if they advance to 1/8stages it will be between them and Portugal or Uruguay and finaly in he semi-finals they are going to face either one of these teams Brazil, Belgium, or Mexico so i think that Spain is going to be a big competetor for WC this season despite the shacky start especialy when you see their defensive side

The journey of the FIFA World Cup 2018 was really crazy there were many unexpected events that happened throughout the games. There are many shocking wins that happened and losses, one of it is that my team, Germany actually lost and got eliminated from the playoffs which they are the most expected to win again like the last FIFA World Cup. Same thing as for Argentina which they almost also got eliminated from it. It is actually fun to watch this kind of games which you really can't say who is gonna win this tournament but one thing is for sure that many people are celebrating and having fun.

Do you guys know that after Mexico advanced to the knockout stage with the help of South Korea which beat Germany a big crowd circled the South Korean embassy in Mexico and the South Korean ambassador drank tequila and chanted with the Mexican fans in the street haha. I am wondering if some Japanese fans went to the Colombian embassy in Tokyo as well to celebrate with the Colombian ambassador because of the great favor  ;D

Hahah this is insane I'll have to check this out, Germany was always going to crash don't know why some people are so upset they crashed. Right before the tournament their players looked out of form, their coach struggled with basic formation and line up. Plus the winner curse was also a factor. So far none of the teams look like winners let's see how it goes.

Well the Germans squad that was picked for this year's tournament was not impressive at all and even with the squad, Joachim Low made some very poor decisions regarding the players that he selected to play each game and that undoubtedly caused them to be eliminated from the competition.

Germany is missing some players from the squad that won the trophy in Brazil 4 years ago. 2 midfielders - Bastian Schweinsteiger and Philipp Lahm and 3 forwards - Lukas Podolski, Mario Goetze and Miroslav Klose. These players were good however it's not like Germany doesn't have equal or even better players in its current squad. The younger generation is very promising too. Philipp Lahm was great and probably irreplaceable though. I think a lot of the German players looked very slow, tired and disinterested in the World Cup in Russia. Perhaps that's due to the long and tiresome seasons in their clubs or something? If Low remains as manager he will need to do a complete overhaul of the team for the next Euro tourney.

i agree with you Germany losing these legends have been one of the many reason that they left us so early. i think they players that played in last world cup and particiapated in this one were so not hungry for this tournament they showed 0 effort to win games only Toni Kroos showed some decent performances the rest were just ghosts. And no offense for Muller is finshed he knows nothing but grabbing his head after losing the goal. Timo Werner is the great disaster if they think he is a talent, it will happen to them what happened to Italy as for Mario Gomez no comments on him because it will have to write a book explaining how bad he waws and i still don't know how Muller were last tournament best scorer the man knows just one thing in football and that how he positions himself the rest is just crap

Hello guys first match day of the Round of 16 is finally here! Are you excited? I am for sure  ;D
I have heard that the Argentinians have been practising penalties so maybe they are going to employ defensive tactics vs France and play on the counter attack. In that case I am gonna bet first half 0-0 correct score @ 2.15
Portugal is known for their defensive play as well and keeping in mind how they played their last 2 games vs Morocco and Iran scoring a single goal and also how they played during the Euro 2016 knockout stage I think it's safe to say we won't see many goals tonight in the Portugal - Uruguay match. I like HT 0-0 correct score. I will play a small side parlay combining both bets for a total of 4.5 odds. Cheers  :D

The game is currently tied with Pepe equalizing for Portugal after Edison Cavani scored for Uruguay in the first half of the game.

Ronaldo didn't have a day and Portugal ran out of luck. Uruguay were overall the better team and deserved the win more. Cavani is a world class striker and outshined everyone today. I hope he didn't suffer a serious injury and will be fit for the next match. The referee made a lot of questionable choices though especially at the end. When Ronaldo gets shut down Portugal can't win.

Clearly Uruguay were much of a superior team. There was no clear style for Portugal playing wide will not give as a positive result to the defense of Uruguay. Godin played all of Simeoni's defensive lessons. Uruguay have two defense lines, Godin in one line and the other defenders in onther line.
Uruguay played on the speed and and good spreading in field excellent style, but it quickly drains the team. As for Ronaldo he was bad and without concentration, and no Creativity or even  good positionning as if he had lost hope since the early goal.

Finally, the best has scored, and the worst is not worth to complete the journey, thanks Uruguay and especialy cavani for this entertainement now he is tied as second best striker in tournament alongside Lukau and Ronaldo with four goals i hope he makes it at the end to face france him and Suarez will be a deadly duo that will be amazing to see play aginst 2016 Euro finalist.

After scoring, the Uruguayans were very defensive in their play and they only came out to counter attack. If they had opened the game and not played defensive, it would have been an entertaining game like the Argentina and France game. The Uruguayans were not that superior to the Portuguese squad.

Could I do my own prediction here? :D This year Croatia has appeared to be strong and I love such surprises when a team starts to beat the odds. Last night event was an unfortunate outcome for Ronaldo and his team, Why I say Ronaldo? Because I think Portugal has only a key player and he is the one deciding on their success, Like Messi for Argentina. Two great teams are now gone and I'm hoping for either Croatia or Brazil to win the cup of this year. Let us see what happens. Could we have another France vs Brazil finale though?

France is not good enough to reach the finals. Their next match (quarter-final) is against Uruguay and the chances are that they'll lose it. Brazil looks strong however... Hopefully they'll beat Mexico tomorrow..

I fancy France to beat Uruguay. Uruguay have Suarez and Cavani but France have much more talent in their squad. Kylian Mbappe is in form and he is tearing up the opposing defences like there is no tomorrow. Football is unpredictable though and underdogs can get the better of favorites and that's why it's such a great sport to watch  8)

Onto the Spain - Russia match. The Spanish defence has been shaky and De Gea hasn't been showing his best lately. Russia started strong vs mediocre teams but once they faced a serious team like Uruguay they got beaten badly 3-0. However being the host country and having all these fans on the stadium I think Russia will be very motivated today and hopefully will score a goal. I am going with both teams to score. Also eyeing the over 2.5 goals market for a live bet. Happy watching  :D

Day 3 of the Round of 16 matches. We have the favorites Brazil and Belgium facing Mexico and Japan respectively. There is nothing special to analyze about these 2 matches - Brazil and Belgium need to win. And because the odds are low I am going to parlay Brazil FT & Belgium FT. I hope they will do their job within 90 minutes and not go into extra time like the 2 matches yesterday evening. Good luck guys  ;)

Brazil is a  one of the biggest candidate left for the title even without Neymar (his presence will certainly increase the power of Samba but this does not affect the team as a whole), especially after the exit of many of the teams that were nominated for the title such as Germany and Spain, Argentina and Portugal to a lesser extent. currently the road still filled with obstacles despite no big teams remained it will whether Belgium or France is able to withstand Brazil before reaching the final and we all know that they lost only 2finals from 7.
Neymar was not at the top of the group stage but Brazil went through the rest of the team now it's time to see him sober up it's going to be  entertainment all the way from this stage as Brasil presses hard upfront with Neymar Willian Coutinho and Firmino as well as those coming from behind such as Paulinho and Casimero

Japan gave an unexpected play, and finally the come back from Belgium is much more than the play from the Japan players. If Japan has won, this could be the first Asian country to enter the quarter final level in this world cup. Russia being a major contributor to cryptocurrency moving forward to the quarter final level will help in the price pumping before the end of the season.

Japan gave a great game in the game against Belgium. Japan is less lucky because when Japan can get luck then I'm sure that Japan can be when victory. Yes now representatives from asia are gone and now we are going to watch an exciting match. The big eight matches are just a few days away and the 6 teams have made sure. We just wait for 2 more team that will fill the remaining slot. Russia has shown an exciting match and now we are all waiting for every game to be played.

Japan was ahead by 2-0, with just 20 minutes remaining. They could have won the match, had they concentrated on their defenses. But their mistakes enabled the Belgians to score three goals in quick succession. Japan literally gifted the match to Belgium.

Day 4 of Round of 16 matches. We have Colombia - England and Sweden - Switzerland on the schedule today. Both games can easily go either way and I don't see any big favorites so I am going to bet on goals instead. We have seen so many goals already and with the matches being so unpredictable I think the safest bet here would be both teams to score. Good luck and have fun  8)

Hoping to see more GOALS GOALS GOALS in today's round of play!

Has anyone else noticed that the refs seem to be calling more penalties this World Cup than most other years?

Defiantly a contributing factor for some of these high scoring affairs.

OVERS have been hitting regularly; more often with ease than not.

Yeah the VAR is responsible for penalties galore. I think like 90% of all VAR reviews have ended with a penalty haha. Unfortunately we didn't see a lot of goals in the first match today. Sweden were very solid defensively and neutralized the Swiss attack. The Swedish don't have any super stars but they are very solid tactically and show some good teamplay.

My 2 cents.

I agree with your analysis regarding the teams (especially Brazil and Argentina ... I actually thought Argentina would not make it through to the round of 16, but they always get lucky). With Germany gone (which was one of my favorites to win this World Cup), I am now rooting for Belgium and Croatia.

We were missing four world class players in team Portugal through out the event and I can say if they were part of the team Portugal then no one can easily win from this team. However now they are out of the event as Uruguay won the match with good combination and plan now had a good body language spirit against Portugal.

Cavani is also a world class player but it depends on team work and not up to a player on the other hand there is no player who can compete with Ronaldo so it is up to team work.

By the way there is a chance that Edinson Cavani will not play against France today. He was substituted last game because of injury. I don't know how serious his injury is or he has recovered already and will be available for today's match. If he doesn't play that will be a big hit for Uruguay as he has been their most prolific scorer so far. Luis Suarez should step up big time if Cavani is out.

I still want to see what Belgium will be able to do against Brazil. Brazil is a much stronger team now, than it was on last world cup, and it doesn't seem to rely in just a few key players that much anymore, which is great. On the other hand, Belgium still has an amazing and incredibly fast offense, so they can pose a big threat to Brazil in my opinion. As for France, they've already beaten Argentina in a tight match, so although Uruguay is a tough team, I don't think they will be able to beat France (specially if Cavani doesn't play).

Important news!!! Edinson Cavani is not in the starting lineup. He is replaced by Christian Stuani whom I haven't heard of. I think France FT @ 2.0 odds is a bargain in my honest opinion. I am gonna load up on France some more. Unless Uruguay park the bus the whole match, the French should be able to snatch the win before extra time.

Cavani would be a huge loss and a attacking team would now have to play tame defense unless squarez decides to pull a trick or two it's France all the way. I do hope it's a tough match though. I can't wait for lukaku to score another goal today he's in top form and is there any way I can bet neymar will fall down and do drama I wish I had a btc would have betted on that lol.

South America gone from the World Cup! Today's games were some of the best I have seen so far in this World Cup (I was ready to call it quits after the free kick match between England and Colombia). Brazil didn't start very strong, but played a good game, though it was not enough to get through. On the other hand, Hazard, De Bruyne and Lukaku were phenomenal for Belgium. Would have preferred to see Uruguay get through to the semi-finals as they have played very well throughout the tournament.
For tomorrow's matches my money is on Sweden beating England and Croatia beating Russia.

Yes... Uruguay was overly defensive and that was the reason why they lost to France. They should have given some support to Suarez in the front.. he was alone in the attacking department.

So today we have the last 2 quarter-finals Russia - Croatia and Sweden - England. The host country Russia advanced after beating Spain on penalties. The Russians parked the bus the whole match and played defensive anti-football. I think they will employ the same strategy against Croatia today. Everything thrown in defense and hope for the best with lucky counter attacks. Croatia are by far the stronger side. Obviously with such defensive play this is likely going to be a game with few goals. I will try HT 0-0 and under 2.5 goals.
Sweden are a robust team with strong defensive game as well. I think the English forwards will struggle today. I like HT 0-0 and under 2.5 goals in this match.

It would be interesting to see England in the final, just for a change in these Cups. In fact, in these Semi-finals, only France is one of those normal contenders out there. It's good to see that new teams are emerging, like Croatia and Belgium. I still think that Belgium is one of the main favorites, because their offense is just to good. I already liked them a lot on the last Euro, and I'm liking them again in this world Cup. Their defense had a lot of problems in the last Euro, but they played quite well vs Brazil. Let's see what they will be able to do vs France.

As for France, they are still the ones that are facing the top teams in their path, so if they beat Belgium, I they they wont let this one go, like they did on the Euro Cup vs Portugal.

"It's coming home"  ;D Haha jokes aside England really had it easy till now and their fans must be very surprised that the team has advanced far given the recent failures. And I think England have probably 90% chance of getting to the final because Croatia should be very exhausted after their last 2 matches. Maybe this is England's World Cup I don't know any more. Everything has been so crazy. My guess would be France - England at the final even though I would love to see Belgium there. Let's see what will happen.

according to my prediction in the 2018 world cup there will be a new champion who has never been a champion before, and the team that will compete in the final is likely to be belgium vs russia is seen from the team's performance from the start of the group stage if russia has a factor as the host. but that's just a prediction only and can still happen without we can predict. :)

Maybe your prediction is true but let's not count out other contenders to compete in the big stage. Russia and Belgium may be hungrier than anybody else but their experience to perform to get to the top will most likely make the difference.

Croatia captain Luka Modrić has become the first Croatian player to score more than 100 assists in a World Cup match on Saturday (July 8, 2018) in which Russia beat Russia 4-3, After the end of the original and extra time with a draw of two goals for each of them, the pass is not correct. In this number of passes, Modrić became the first Croatian player to reach this number of passes in one game in the World Cup.

Croatia became the second team to win the penalty shootout on two occasions in one edition of the World Cup after Argentina at the 1990 World Cup in Italy. Croatia will face England in the semifinals of the 2018 World Cup on Wednesday 11 July 2018 and have a historic opportunity to qualify for the World Cup finals for the first time.

congratulations for Brazil fans that their team already reach to quarterfinal after defeat Mexico 2-0 and probably this results according to people predictions that Brazil will certainly win and i'm watching the game seems Brazil is too dominate the game even Neymar can provide good assist to Firminho to made second goals

With the exit of Argentina, Germany, Spain and Portugal, the top favorites to win this world cup is Brazil. The only teams which are capable of offering some sort of resistance is England and France.
Yeah friend it is now cleared that favorite teams are Brazil and Uruguay and Russia because these are considering favorite after the upsets which made Portugal, Spain, Argentina and Germany out of the event. They went back to their homes and now are watching the tough matches on televisions. Now we can say that these teams have high chances of winning the FIFA trophy.

My educated guess is France and England to meet at the final and Belgium to win the 3rd place. However I would love to see Belgium - England at the final with the Belgians winning the whole thing.

I am gonna wager the same as in yesterday's game - HT 0-0 and under 2.5 goals in the Croatia - England semi-final tonight. Croatia seem to have great difficulties scoring goals in the knockout stage and after these 2 games gone to extra time and penalties I guess they will be kinda tired. England are my favorites to make it to the final. I think they will win by a goal or 2 in the 2nd half. England to win @ 2.35 is also nice. Good luck everyone.

I am rooting for Belgium as well. When Belgium and England played in the group stage the managers had the B teams out on the pitch so that result can't be very indicative of who the clear favorite is even though that is obviously Belgium because they have better players on paper. I expect England and Belgium to engage in an open match without parking the bus by either side. I hope we will see glorious attacking football and may the better team win  :D

Hopefully that will be the next EURO tourney in 2020 fingers crossed  :D Had they faced an easier knockout bracket without the likes of France they would have advanced to the final.

Now come to think of it, Croatia definitely won the lottery of easy opponents. Denmark and Russia were nothing to write home about and yet Croatia drew 1-1 twice in regulation time and had to pray to God the penalty shootouts were in their favour. England had the lead and they squandered it away in the final minutes. By the way, when England and Belgium played the group stage game with their B teams it was nothing more than a friendly match if you ask me. So maybe that match doesn't count haha.

yeah i don't konw why everyone is sympathy with Croitia their only greatest achivement was winning against Argentine that was not that great team in my opinion (they lacked strengh in defense and manager didn't help with offense either) other then having messi in squad Argentine is just a team with some good strikers while England i was not that convinced that they have what it takes to beat good challengers and they only showed some strengh against weaker teams in group stages other then that not a lot to remark the only good thing i liked from Croitia was that they fought hard even though they played far more minutes i'm afraid for France that have been consistent team and showed us good games with Mbappe Greizman Pogba Kante and Lloris that they are going to lose just like the Euro against a team that didn't win games after group stages.

I reckon France have learned their lesson with Portugal and will not underestimate Croatia tonight. People like to support underdogs I guess and that's why Croatia have the sympathy of many fans over the world. Croatia made a great run but the fairy-tale will end here. They should be proud of their great achievement.
I am going with HT 0-0, HT/FT Draw/France and France FT. If this match ends in another 1-1 tie it will be very, very funny  ;D

I'm sure the world cup champions will be won by France. if seen from the previous game, the French team's game is very interesting and has a strong team. In addition, France has a solid team that is very difficult to be penetrated defense. but the Croatian team will also want a new championship record at the 2018 World Cup, and the Croatians have a strong mentality to be able to achieve victory until the end

One of the unpredictable world cup i have seen in my life, never expected Croatia in the final let alone the semi finals, there was a lot of own goals and i am sure it is a kind of record in a major tournament and the goalies were not up to the level as they leaked goals even when it is directed in their hands, majority of the results were unpredictable and finally France won the cup even without Benzema.

RIP Croatia supporters.
It was not meant to be.

This world cup we have seen something which has never happened or totally the best of teams just did not played the way they are known for. Now was this coincidence or something really their is a story which made them do we do not know. But France are the world championship now.

Well, lads, that was it - FIFA World Cup 2018 Russia is over and France are the rightful champions. The Argentinian referee made 2 controversial calls in the first half of the match namely that free kick for no apparent foul against Griezmann and that penalty when Perisic handled the ball in the penalty area. Now, I don't think Pitana should be accused of shady decisions if the VAR was positive there were fouls indeed. Griezmann was already falling before he got in contact with the defender so that was a mistake. About the penalty, well, Perisic had enough time to move his arm closer to his body and avoid touching the ball. It looked like he deliberately hit the ball. Anyways, France were better especially in the 2nd half and deservedly won the cup. Some trivia - Giroud has no shot on goal for the entire time he has been on the pitch in Russia  ;D

Mbappe got the award for best young player.
Modric was awarded best overall player.
Kane got the golden boot for most goals.
Courtois was awarded best goalkeeper of the championship.

It has been a crazy tournament with many unexpected twists and turns. Heavy favorites were dethroned early and promising young teams shined. I don't know about you, but I had lots of fun  ;D

So without further ado it's time to wrap this thread up.
Cheers everyone.

Almost each the time FIFA world cup ends we listen to such kinda things that a most unpredictable world cup ends. It was the third time I watched world cup regularly and every time we come across the same results. Some of the people may not like it but I like it the way it happens after all it's a game and it is for a pure purpose of fun and spreading love. By the way France was my favourite for final as I have discussed earlier. I am happy for the new world championships. Cheers.  ;)

The game showed wonderful performance, and as FiFA world cup ends I wished for the best teams to win gracefully. Although France created a good marks on its gameplay, every members of the team should learn how to have cautions because they're capable of being overthrown with other teams. This time I haven't choose any favorite team to trust with due to some factors that I haven't seen yet, because it needs more eliminations before we could decide what's the best team up to support.

Congratulations to France, I think it was a hard fought battle but in the end they have prevailed and this raises the question "why are only the European nations winning the tournament?" Is it because of the money in their leagues and by extension their football development? Well there's got to be winners from the other continents and I think increasing the number of participating nations to 48 might help include a lot of nations who struggle through qualifiers but are good at tournaments.

Unfortunately in soccer, the best team doesn't always win, and that was the case today.
France’s performance throughout the World Cup was so so (especially during the group stage, and they had one of the easiest groups). Croatia on the other hand were very solid but their errors today were costly.
Even though the 2 real goals France scored were brilliant, I think they only won because of the referee's calls (or assistance ... similar to England's referee advantage over Colombia ... but l will also says Colombia was not playing well). However, just like Nigeria was not awarded a penalty against Argentina, this wasn't a penalty, and he should not have awarded it especially after the wrong free kick he gave them earlier. Should have been a yellow for Greizmann instead).

I can't fully agree with you, mate. Croatia played well in the group stage matches especially the famous one vs Argentina, but in the knockout games their performance was bland at best. They got lucky 3 times in a row. France were dominating their opponents with ease and left them no chances to fight back. Actually Croatia had an easier knockout bracket than France. Do you think Croatia would have beaten Argentina twice and then Uruguay and Belgium? No they wouldn't have. But France did all that in regulation time. As for the 2 disputable goals, I don't think the referee was biased plus he received instructions over the VAR so he couldn't have been solely responsible for those calls. The final should have been France - Belgium full stop. The 2 best teams on this World Cup.

You underestimate Denmark.
Denmark was undefeated for 20 games or so when they played Croatia.
They played 0:0 with France too..

I'd say Croatia was unlucky rather then lucky
I mean just look at this

Ughh, not really
The France - Argentina match was tense till the end
I watched it 1-0, 2-1, 4-3, Argentina was able to get back any time during the game, and they were pressing the 2nd half really well
Yes, I think it would.

"Dominating with ease" haha
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6C6oOcDFmLY
It was pretty tense

You're saying Belgium is the 2nd best team
But be realistic
If Croatia played that match against Japan
You'd say, how can Croatia deserve the finals when they played so bad against Japan xD

All the posts I've seen from you in various threads are just attacking Croatia for some reason o.o
They deserved to be there, they have the best player in the cup and the most attractive football!
