Title: Is this even possible?
Post by: gweedo on February 01, 2014, 02:32:44 AM
So when my friends come over to my apartment they always demand that I turn the heat up. What if they could send bitcoins to an address and that turned my heat up? I wouldn't mind cause they were paying micropayments per 10mins that the heat is above a certain degree? Is this even possible or socially acceptable?

Hmmm. automated on demand heat. I like it. Come to think of it, you could meter a lot of stuff.
Your friends are going to hate it. lol

They "demand"? I would kick them out.

They "ask nicely"? I would be a gracious host and attempt to make them comfortable.

LMAO you know how dudes are LMAO

I once knew a guy that sold bowls of cereal to his friends. Like $2 a bowl. Anything is social acceptable.

I wonder how hard it would be to make an automated bitcoin switch?
You would want code that could check the blockchain at an address and fetch the balance. If the balance changes, the new deposit (float) could be used as input to turn a knob on a physical device. The larger the deposit the greater the degree of turn. It could then control a thermostat or a fan or whatever.

Ahh... so this involves "dudes".

In that case, I would tell them that as long as they keep me drunk the heat can stay on. As soon as I start to sober up, the heat goes off. ;)
