Title: Antminer s9 very high temperature
Post by: hamadmattar on June 08, 2018, 10:15:04 PM
Hi everybody,

I am new here and I've been searching for a solution for my issue but unfortunately couldn't find.

One of the chip of my antminer S9 reached 147c while the other are almost around 80c. I've cleaned the device from dust, added some cooling devices around (Air conditioner and Fan) but it didn't work.

Any idea what causing this issue and how to solve it?

Appreciate your help

yeah that is way too hot, what is the temperature in the room itself and is the fan working?

I have 10 S9 in the room, all of them are working perfectly except this one. Room temp may range between 25-30c and I’ve checked the Fan it’s working properly.

I'd say either a heat sink has fallen off or is barely making contact or you have something in the miner. A while back my old S7 sucked in a giant moth, I couldn't find out what was making the one chip run hot until I pulled the hash boards and there was that moth wedged in the heat sink fins all burnt to a crisp.

I’ve checked this, it was a little dusty but nothing sucked inside

I concur.  Its working at spec speeds (presuming you bought a 13TH unit not a faster one).  Chances are the sensor is bad and reporting false information.  If it was really that hot it should have shut itself down.

Mine on, or open a ticket with Bitmain.

I believe the issue is with the sensor. because I left it off for one week and just now switched it on, and everything looks good. any idea where the temp sensor is located on the board?
