Well in fact, the first use of cryptocurrency occurs in silkroad that is why the image of cryptocurrency or bitcoin from people has been shattered, that is why people are scared about bitcoin due to silkroad incident.

Many people are into dark web now, and they used Bitcoin for all their transactions, this could be the reason why there is a good support from Bitcoin, but we can also use it as a payment processor in the normal web and many merchants have adopted Bitcoin as one of their payment processor.

yes, it is. as we all know, deep web contains a lot of information, informations that not everyone are allowed to know. there are also illegal transactions in deep web. using deep web means danger so you have to stay anonymous to protect your profile. so yes, bitcoin is used in deep web to access these things wihtout jeopardizing your profile.

No doubt that BTC is still used on deep/dark web, but by some analyzes less than the previous years. One of the main reasons for the reduction of use is high volatility and maybe something even more important and that is less anonymity than before. Some security agencies like NSA are work for years on idetnification methods to track and identified BTC users ( Snowden provide evidence for that), so some other more anonymous coins take over the part of that market. More anonymity and low fees, this is something users ask these days.

That is actually a common myth that were created by mass media and also some movies and series that used it fictitiously for

effect. The more anonymous Crypto currencies are actually better suited for that kind of actions. {Will not name them,

because I do not want to promote them on our Bitcoin forum} So do not believe everything you see and hear on the television

or in the media, they are just using it to sensationalize their content.  ::) A lot of these rumours were spread to discredit

Bitcoin in the general public's eye.  >:(

It can still be used in deep web because Bitcoin but using it will not give you fully anonymity because it can be traced, just like what happened to Ross Ulbricht the owner of silkroad, he got traced by selling drugs and accepting Bitcoin as payment and it happened several times. At this point there are lots of cryptocurrencies that was created to provide fully anonymity to all of its users like Monero, Dash and more, and even I don't go to deep web, I'm sure that they are now using this type of cryptocurrencies as an alternative to Bitcoin to avoid being traced by authorities. Possibly Bitcoin is still being used in deep web but if you are a smart drug seller why would you risk using it if there are lots of alternative that will make your transaction safer. So I think that Bitcoin is now more being used on a good transactions.

It is used on the deep web but as far as I know, people with great knowledge can still track the transactions of Bitcoin users and these criminals on deep web the reason there are a lot of them caught and a lot of Bitcoins confiscated out of them.

Bitcoin may be used largely in the deep web but I don't think it matters since it can positively affect the price of Bitcoin that can bring the price up.

I'm not too familiar with dark web/deep web but I think most of them are using Bitcoin or anonym coin like Monero for transactions
because as far as I know darknet markets is the marketplace of illegal goods and surely they will protect the identity when dealing with illegal things, So the anonymity of cryptocurrency can be useful to them

From the article I read, yes, most of the transactions payment are made using Bitcoin, and some of the sites only accept Bitcoin payment, the usage of the Bitcoin is quite large in deep web, because everything in deep web need to be secret and leave no trace, so Bitcoin is a suitable choice

I even know about bitcoin first from deepweb (i didn't know the potential of bitcoin back then). A few years ago, i went into deepweb just wanted to know how it looks like and then i visited a website similar to ebay/amazon where all illegal stuff is available there and only accepted bitcoin as a payment method. If the website still running, they must have been accepted privacy coins as a payment method like monero etc.

Monero is the most use in deep web for transaction but bitcoin is also largely use. Monero offers more anonymity than bitcoin when it comes to dark web transactions.

Before, bitcoin is popular on dark web. All illegal transaction was there and bitcoin was being use for its anonymous transaction. But  when the Silk Road was busted by FBI, slowly bitcoins influence subside. But I think, bitcoin is still being use there but as of now, there are many secured coin to be use as an option. We dont know, what coin they are sought after nd being use now.

Well this definitely used to be the case in the past, in fact the deep Web used to be the biggest utility of Bitcoin, and what largely drove the Bitcoin economy.

However this is no longer the case- traders/ investors are now by far the biggest users of BTC and deep web folk have moved on to using Monero mainly as its truly anonymous unlike Bitcoin which is pseudonymous (you can be linked by your wallet address).

I really haven't been in a deep web but I think for sure bitcoin is also there and being traded or being used to buy or sell online as a currency but who really knows right? until you go there for yourself but the thing is it is really risky and there could be hackers waiting for you and maybe hack your computer or laptop to get more coins so there are so many things in the dark web. For us to know if they are actually using bitcoin we can ask those who has experience going in the deep web but i do think that they are really using it there.

Bitcoin is convenient, all it's transactions are done on the Internet, the trader is almost an anonymous. So, bitcoin is widely used in deep web, many people use bitcoin in illegal activities.

Yes. Deepweb have so many transaction that is dangerous, there's a reason why you can't just easily access the dark web, there are so many information that not everyone is allowed to know, so you must be anonymous. Bitcoin is a safe transaction where everyone will be anonymous. So they're using bitcoin.

In this day and age you'd have to be pretty stupid to use Bitcoin for anything dodgy. We know plenty about how good their tracing is which means there's plenty they're not telling us about that's even better.

Stuff with baked in anonymity is available. I certainly wouldn't use anything else if I were up to cheekiness.

It's probably used there a lot, though I have no personal experience with it.  However I think its biggest use is among speculators, because most people who get into bitcoin are looking to get rich or at least make a little money from it.  Nobody uses it in lieu of fiat money just because it's such a pain in the ass, so it's either a store of value or a hot potato speculative instrument.

You refer to silkroad incidents that bitcoin was used to illegal transactions to buy or sell illegal trades on deep web, so the answer is yes. Since bitcoin's transactions are anonymous then it can be used for illegal acts without exposing personal identities to the users and much worst bitcoin was used on scamming people like hyip for an instance.

there may be still some use cases for bitcoin on the deep web, the cases that you saw when you visited and possibly used but it is not that much. they are rare cases that you happened to have found there.
people are either using cash which is the ultimate anonymous currency or they are using anon coins such as monero and zcash.

Probably it is, since its one of the biggest crypto name, if not the biggest. However, those who seek anonymity through bitcoin can be track down because we all know that its not 100% anonymous. So if you are going into deep web to buy illicit stuff, you better think again. And you also have to understand that 2 of the biggest darkweb's illegal market, Hansa and Alphabay has been shutdown by the Feds since last year.

Quote
“Approximately 1,605.0503851 bitcoins were seized from Alexandre Cazes and moved to a secure government-controlled bitcoin address,” explains the forfeiture complaint. “ Approximately 293.79476862 bitcoin was moved from server 3203 (Alphabay) to a secure government-controlled bitcoin address.”

But from what I have heard of the kind of deals happens happen there, bitcoin is best suited for those deals. You just have to give a bitcoin wallet to the buyer and he sends you the money without getting any other information about you. In other payment system, you have to give information like email or bank details.

Bitcoin isn't anonymous, the ledger is transparent. Privacy coins like zencash, cloakcoin, etc are the ones to go if you're looking for a real privacy.
And more and more people in the dark web are using privacy coins instead of bitcoin.
Unless you're using a bitcoin mixer, forget about your privacy.

Bitcoin was meant to be anonymous but it is now entering into traceable assets. Most of the exchanges who are offering Bitcoin want to have KYC (Know Your Customer) records where purchaser details are stored. If you are not compliant then legal authorities can trace you and these exchanges cannot keep your KYC information safe after court order to disclose. This is also part of their legal license to operate cryptocurrency business. These companies also have record of your transactions. There are some news on user account banned by Coinbase. That was because those customers were involved in some unlawful activities according to them. They have traced it to purchase of some drugs. So in real sense Bitcoin is coming out of the anonymous status. But in some sense still Bitcoin is a leader in cryptocurrency world and anonymity is maintained during transactions if you are doing everything from your personal wallet and not using any companies platform to make transactions.

KHeck no! As a matter of fact the dark web has a number of currencies started to replace bitcoin which ill mention in just a bit. Bitcoin is widely used all over the world for peoples everyday purchases, if you shop online you can get pretty much anything you need as far as household items at places like walmart or a selsction of items not just for the home but othe specialtys as well at amazon and for a list of great places that accept crypto you can get phone apps from play store and app store or even just a basic google search, now on the other hand if you do like the works of the dark and deep web most every site does accept bitcoin as you know but most of them are now adopting payment options for dark web based coin such as deeponion coin and TORcoin.
