Title: Ripple or bitcoin
Post by: boranes on June 09, 2018, 03:35:08 PM
Hypothetically speaking, if someone offers you $10,000 to hold in one coin, only condition is to hold it for 2 years, which coin would you choose to hold?

You can choose between only 2 coin, one is bitcoin and other one is ripple. What would you choose?

I would chiose bitcoin for sure.. ripple has a high potential Gian compared to bitcoin but is more unstable so if i have to hold for 2 years bitcoin is more probable that will still be Here after 2 years

I think it is better to trust already proven technologies and to choose BTC, since he is the king of this market and will remain it for the next time

If necessary, I would choose Ripple, because Bitcoin is very difficult to increase many times the current value, Ripple is possible, but investment is always risky, you should consider!

I like Bitcoin almost. Bitcoin holds better than Ripple. Maximum people/holder will say that Bitcoin is boss of crypto and everyone interested in Bitcoin.
Without any hesitation, I will hold Bitcoin for some years. Because it is more potential coin than all other altcoins.
If you think Ripple will grow more, than please think about satoshi. If Satoshi increase, then price will rise. Otherwise price will fall down.

I will choose bitcoin because though i feel that the risk is greater but also the chance gaining higher profit is most likely to happen in 2 years time.

Even tho I respect Ripple development and how hard they are working on the development, I would choose Bitcoin every time because I never believed that Ripple is crypo coin or even related to crypto world and no matter how wide it spread it will remain with out real potential for big gains with all this banks and regulation involved with it .

It's like Gold vs Dollar. I prefer gold for investment.

I would probably go with Ripple, as Ripple is a legit company and I see the vision with the technology. I mean its really a win-win situation, either way you'll get money without even investing your own, if the value of either coin increases. I'm already invested into Ripple so another $10.000 wouldn't mind at all. :)

Now I think that Ripple is one of the worst investments that can be made. I think that Ripple is overvalued at the moment and I don't think that Ripple has the potential for further growth.

No second thought it’s Bitcoin, because Ripple investment has higher risk. Bitcoin investment is safer investment than Ripple investment.

Bitcoin, Ripple is not a cryptocurrency in my eyes and is the complete opposite of decentralised. Decentralization is important in this space and without it I think XRP will do worse in the longrun

Ripple has established itself in the five popular currencies and has become almost as well known as Bitcoin. Whether or not the project will become a “blockchain for banks”, its technologies will find application in many other areas. Unlike Bitcoin, he is friendly to business, since it follows the financial laws. If Bitcoin is counting on user loyalty, Ripple is committed to wider adoption in the financial environment. This makes it attractive to investors who consider cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin to be vulnerable and therefore are in no hurry to introduce them into the trading industry.

Of course I choose bitcoin, bitcoin is the king of all coins and without Bitcoin altcoins will not exist.
Bitcoin is a lot of change for the currency in the world.
Potential bitcoin is also quite good compared to other altcoins.

I prefer bitcoin over Ripple, Ripple has a high Gian potential compared to Bitcoin but is more unstable so if I have to hold for 2 years Bitcoin is more likely that will stay here after 2 years, and I'm sure Bitcoin will be more profitable.

XRP is the centralized digital currency and the reason digital currency such as E-gold and Tencent have failed in the past is centralized.
Whenever the government could be a threat to XRP because the centralized digital currency is easy to kill by regulation.
Will the government be an enemy or friend to XRP ? only time can prove it

If you set such conditions, now it is more promising to invest in Ripple or other Altcoins.

Even if bitcoin grows by 100%, Ripple can grow by 500% or more

My choice is bitcoin. I believe in bitcoin rather than ripple. Many argue that ripple has potential, but for me ripple is hard to predict because it is more unstable. I'm optimistic bitcoin will be more valuable in the future, so big profits may be obtained.

I will choose Ripple to hold it for 2 years with such amount. Ripple is a safe haven than bitcoin and with such an amount I can obtain more of ripple than bitcoin. Bitcoin price hasn't been profitable since the last six months and by comparison, ripple is more valuable in terms of price appreciation than bitcoin.

Bitcoin will always be first but in this scenario I would go with ripple, still has wayyy more growth on it's way and would definitely make a lot more profit at the moment. Also, I see some saying ripple is older than bitcoin, what's the source of info for that? I'm pretty sure Bitcoin is quite a bit older than Ripple, I actually  thought it's the first successful crypto currency, the only older cryptocurrencies I know were all failures?

I would say Bitcoin is already pretty high but as new investors come in it could rise again. Ripple will never have such high prices because there are just to much ripple tokens.

If it has to be done according to your rules, then i would buy btc. 2 years time is a very long period and we should choose most secure and stable project with a huge potential. Ripple is a good project. But BTC is far better than that.

Title: Re: Ripple or bitcoin
Post by: oscarrsm on June 09, 2018, 04:47:57 PM
I chose bitcoin. I think with Ripple you can only play for a short time. I would not be able to keep 2 years of money in Ripple. I don't trust this project internally, but I believe in bitcoin.
If bitcoin's course is going down I don't care, but if the rate of Ripple was greatly lowered and I would not have the opportunity to sell, I would be very nervous and panicked.

Of course Bitcoin because it's suitable for long term investment. I think Bitcoin can recover from $7k until $20k in 2 years when the bear market end. But for Ripple I think it can't. It just can grow slowly.

If someone offers me money to invest in either Bitcoin or Ripple I wouldn't hesitate to go for Bitcoin because it is a decentralized coin while ripple should not be really called a cryptocurrency because it oppose to the original concept of cryptocurrency being decentralized and creating a wallet for Ripple will cost you 20 XRP while creating or generating a new Bitcoin wallet is only free. We all know that the purpose of Ripple is to help banks to improve their banking system but why would banks have to trust this company if banks can just make their own blockchain based system or create their own cryptocurrency to improve their service or security of money? Also the company that created Ripple have the control of the supply which means that they only be releasing new supplies on a certain time.

technology and the best system owned bitcoin, that's for sure. bitcoin can be seen annually in experiencing a significant improvement. for the next two years will be more bitcoin certainly talked a lot about price and results. of course, the price of the bitcoin will be higher than there is at the moment and it's far from ripple.

If that is the case i will probably invest in ripple because one of my mentor told me it can hit $5 in a year, also due to the fact that i do not have any amount invested in ripple, im holding mostly btc, eth and ltc, so investing in ripple will diversify my portfolio as well.

Ripple is presently one of the top five virtual coins and it is been favored by some banks particularly in Japan. But I still chose bitcoin because it is more profitable than ripple both in shrt term and long term. Bitcoin have already proven its ability to recover during a deep corrections and can reach many all-time highs. Bitcoin also dominated the entire cryptocurrency market in almost all aspects.

I would prefer to hold off on a bitcoin than a ripple. bitcoin is very stable over time. She is also very easy to recover from the condition from red to green. In addition, the price is also very fantastic. This is the reason I prefer the bitcoin, though Ripple is also a good alternative including coins.

Bitcoin,because :
1. the first coin born
2. bicoin is a reference price of other coins
3. currently is the coin with the highest price that is hard to beat by other coins
4. bitcoin is the most widely used coin in the world

IMO, with $ 10000 and a crypto option to hold for 2 years, I would choose Ripple instead of Bitcoin. At present, although the Bitcoin price is at the highest level in the market, regarding potential, the ripple in the future will have more potential because Ripple is associated with many banks in improving the speed of transaction processing. Therefore, the future ripple will be more potential than BTC and ETH in the application of blockchain technology in enterprises.

With all due respect to Bitcoin, I will choose Ripple. We have heard all about Ripple. But look how powerful Ripple holds the correction especially on mei. Quite simply, when viewed from its market capitalization, Ripple would be more potential to earn several times over the current price range.

Looks like for two years I will choose Bitcoin. We know both of them have enormous potential in their respective habitats. But Bitcoin is Bitcoin, nothing what Bitcoin needs to prove, it will remain a crypto Icon anytime. But Ripple may take longer to get great success. Ripple had to prove many things before being able to gain trust back from the community.

I will go to Ripple. Not just by reason of using the panic of people today. But I really believe we need Altcoin like Ripple in the future. I think there are still many weaknesses in P2P and however we need third party guarantees at least to ensure the security of transacting. So it will probably be a bridge between crypto and bank system in the future.

Of course bitcoin no doubt because its decentralized and this is the king of cryptocurrency that will continue to grow over time. Yes, RIPPLE is also a big coin but its centralized coin and investors are scared to invest on this coin in long term. Bitcoin will surely win in this poll and of course in reality bitcoin is still great compare to ripple.

Why in the world would you compare Ripple with the king of the crypto world? This is a stupid comparison and completely unnecessary in my opinion. I am not a Ripple hater just because it is associated with banks, but it needs to be compared with coins like Ethereum, Litecoin etc since it is leagues away from Bitcoin in terms of popularity, ranking, features etc. Bitcoin needs to be compared with coins like Ethereum in this instance.

Title: Re: Ripple or bitcoin

I would reluctantly choose Bitcoin because it is a little less shitty than Ripple. Ripple is so highly centralised that it does not really qualify as a cryptocurrency. Bitcoin is also highly centralised with less than 1000 wallets holding over a third of the Bitcoin. This leaves it highly vulnerable to price manipulation and the fact that it has no use other than as a store of value based on scarcity and is highly inefficient for transactions means it is unlikely to maintain its dominant position over the long term.

I woul certainly choose Bitcoin because profit rate in Bitcoin is highest than any other coin in coinmarketcap.I would prefer to hold Bitcoin for two years because i know that Bitcoin is stable than XRP.XRP is centralized coin and is manipulated by bankers.XRP is basically overpriced.XRP is preferable for short term trading because its unstable and can give benefit only when you trade on day basis. So in a nutshell i can say that i would prefer to opt for Bitcoin rather than to XRP,as already i got high profit by holding Bitcoin in 2017.

That's an unusual pairing to choose between, I think the potential for Ripple is very good as the adoption begins to grow with the financial institutions just unsure how it will be reflected in the unit price. That's an unusual pairing to choose between, I think the potential for Ripple is very good as the adoption begins to grow with the financial institutions just unsure how it will be reflected in the unit price. So I would stick with Bitcoin as the more likely investment to offer a good return over 2 years.
I also agree that bitcoin is the best choice for longterm investments, because bitcoin can move quickly when it rises and also when it goes down. so that it will quickly benefit when the price rises

I would chiose bitcoin for sure.. ripple has a high potential Gian compared to bitcoin but is more unstable so if i have to hold for 2 years bitcoin is more probable that will still be Here after 2 years

I agree with the above. On the ripple there is a chance to earn more, but there is a possibility of large losses. Bitcoin, as practice shows, this is a more stable investment for a long term.

It's a no-brainer that i would chose bitcoin over ripple since the later is the pioneer of cryptocurrency and considering that btc's value right now is a bit low than of the same time last year, the chance of reaching another ath in the next 2 years is high though we don't have that crystal ball to predict the future.

Personally. I would never put my investment in a coin where the team even after these many years still hold over 70% of total supply, on top of which it does not  have a fixed circulation and more XRP could be generated in future. XRP is centralized, mostly providing supports to banks, completely opposite to what crypto is.
For sure, I will invest and hold in Bitcoin and will keep XRP away from my life as much as I can.

Bitcoin was an established cryptocurrency since from the start, and if you have to compare ripple to bitcoin it has really a huge gap when it comes to adoption and usage. The demand hasn't gone that high when it comes to trading and spending, specially when it's used with gambling and online buying. Businesses like trading is the usual spending of bitcoin and unlike ripple it just depend on the trading aspects and not the whole world was educated about it.

We have different opinion on investment for long term. but to answer to your question  i will go for Bitcoin. It is the most stable crypto on the market as posted. Ripple is very centralized and only its team members are going to have that advantage whenever they are very satisfied with the market and start dumping their coin. Bitcoin, in any case, is not only a functioning but also demanded technology. Ripple too, but Ripple's feature in the number of coins. With such a mass of and the way they are used, Ripple has a sad financial future.
Mass adoption will be faster with bitcoin than with ripple, I mean, if people were to do a Google Search on investment in cryptocurrencies, their first choice will be bitcoin more likely,

Yes I never thought of rocking ripple else would have invested, ripple has become the star of the month as of now it over took ethereum which is a shocker for the whole world. But remember Bitcoin and it's reputation across the globe, very unique and best for long term investment.

Hypothetically speaking, if someone offers you $10,000 to hold in one coin, only condition is to hold it for 2 years, which coin would you choose to hold?

You can choose between only 2 coin, one is bitcoin and other one is ripple. What would you choose?

I would choose bitcoin. With that amount of money in bitcoin I have no doubt that I would be making a lot more money if I am holding the coin for two years. The best coins to hold are always the best coins in the market so along with bitcoin the next coin that I would choose to hold for the long term would be ethereum, undoubtedly the best altcoin in the market.

This is a very ridiculous question in my opinion, ripple will never be a rival to bitcoin, it was just a hype guys, ripple is way too far beyond bitcoin, maybe ethereum have the chance though. I'd go for bitcoin without any doubt at all, I won't hesitate and will buy bitcoin worth of $10,000 then I will patiently wait for the right time for me to sell it, the time that I know I already make big profits on it.

Of course, choose Bitcoin. Don't we see how Bitcoin is spread throughout the website. This makes the price of Bitcoin continues to increase dramatically. Bitcoin mining process is increasing, this makes the amount of Bitcoin increasingly scarce, so that the price of Bitcoin will easily increase someday.

Ripple is a promising investment because of banking sector support but It is real opponent of Bitcoin. So I   am also hate this investment. In crypto community is expecting some centralised platform so Ripple occupy the more consumer in short period but it will never the Bitcoin marketcap so both are good but best one is Bitcoin.

Newsflash: Bitcoin Price Pops to $6,745 ahead of Quarterly Futures Expiration

The bitcoin price broke out of its early-week slump on Thursday, scrambling back above $6,700 to return to its weekend levels.

Bitcoin had entered the week near $6,700 after briefly extending as high as $6,815 last Friday. However, the flagship cryptocurrency took a moderate dip on Monday, a correction that ultimately forced BTC below $6,400 on Tuesday ahead of a recovery back to $6,500 on Wednesday. That’s where BTC/USD continued to trade for most of Thursday morning and afternoon, at least until 19:48 UTC when a surge in volume carried the bitcoin price from $6,549 to $6,690 in less than four minutes. At 20:02 UTC, bitcoin broke past $6,700 for the first time since Sunday and popped as high as $6,745 one minute later. As of the time of writing at 21:09 UTC, BTC/USD was trading just above the $6,700 level at $6,702 on Bitfinex.

Several traders have noted on social media that tomorrow, Sept. 28, is the date that quarterly futures expire on OKEx, BitMEX, and CME, events that tend to be accompanied by increased price volatility in the spot markets.

Bitcoin is truly the king but for holding till 2years time ripple is definitely the ans , because no matter how fluctuate the market is ripple will give more return than btc in two years time.
for example, if btc is $10,000 now and I have ripple worth $10,000 too to hold for 2years then in two years btc turn to $100,000 am sure my ripple will be much more than that cause if it can only increase by 100% in it value in btc then I will have $200,000 in total. Like btc $10000 and ripple was $1 which is 0.0001 sat, So 10000 ripple will be 1btc which is $10000 and am sure it can't remain in that spot for two year and if it does 100% in sat then that is $20 per one with 1btc in $100,000 and 20$ into 10000 ripple will be $200,000 and don't forget that btc did 10x while ripple did just 1x .

Btc is controlled by chinese miners. I prefer xrp with his perfect management and smart strategy.

Wow, seriously? So you say that bitcoin is decentralized no longer but prefer to choose ripple instead because it is decentralized? The question was to choose between two cryptos I suppose, but there is only one crypto in this list

I don't believe in decentralization ))) All the market is terribly manipulated. Read about products developing by Ripple - xCurrent, xRapid, xVia, Coil, Codius, Cobalt update, MoneyTap launched with SBI today etc etc etc. That's I call market penetration, not the XVG/Pornhub partnership  ;D
I want to select the Ripple as the main coin became the mainstay of my coins to make a much bigger profit again in the future.
so it is great to have Ripple that is capable to generate more profit.
the time Ripple has many improvements that bring progress to its development are present for now and in the future.
It is able to bring a great change for the benefit of that is able to attain greater going forward in the future.
the ability of the Ripple to continue to evolve its own advantage by being able to have Ripple and count on it being the major coin. with its ability to evolve is able to generate more profits.

Hypothetically speaking, if someone offers you $10,000 to hold in one coin, only condition is to hold it for 2 years, which coin would you choose to hold?

You can choose between only 2 coin, one is bitcoin and other one is ripple. What would you choose?

If i see the progress of two coins, btc and xrp, until now i prefer invest in btc. Eventhough the progress of xrp in the day per day show the good progress and always increase, but I still choose btc because the price of btc more valuable rather than xrp and i think the increasing or decreasing of btc price can effect for most of altcoins, include xrp. Holding btc is more profitable and promising rather than invest in xrp.

If for long-term investment options, I would probably choose to invest in ripples. As for short-term investments, I would definitely invest in bitcoin, as at present Bitcoin is the coolest coin on the market for cryptos. But the ripple also beat ETH and won the number two spot in the market.

the progress that continues to occur on Bitcoin is able to bring profits by supporting and increasing investment in Bitcoin to gain a much greater profit from Bitcoin which is indeed Bitcoin has a very capable development to rely on in the future.

Today also needs to consider Ripple who has experienced quite good growth, and I just realized from my sleep. Maybe actually there is a pretty tight competition between Ethereum and Ripple. And bitcoin is still at the forefront of the cryptocurrency leader. ;D

No wonder, bitcoin is far better than ripple, supporters are going to keep their bitcoin instead of holding other coins, the time frame can bring much brighter potentials since the value of bitcoin is really cheaper from the last ATH if things show back and bitcoin rallies again and make another remarkable
run then your investment  can be much safer though we really don't know what future will bring to cryptocurrency.

Ripple is ripple and Bitcoin is bitcoin, it can never be the same at all. Moreover,  ripple was just a clone of bitcoin and bitcoin is the original virtual currency. And bitcoin was a reference only by ripple. So how can others here giving a comparison ripple unto it while Bitcoin has a high value compare into Ripple. They're must be dreaming, or need to knock their heads to wake up! ;D

It will be more reliable to diversify your  assets. Therefore it is worthwhile to buy both Ripple and Bitcoin. However, if only one coin is chosen, then I would choose Ripple.

If there are $ 10,000 and have to choose between Ripple and bitcoin for the long-term hold, then I would not hesitate to choose Bitcoin because long-term investment in Bitcoin is always a reasonable choice. So my opinion is to choose Bitcoin for long-term investment.

holding Bitcoin is safer and guarantees profit because Bitcoin is the main crypto that will always control the market. so if for the long term it's better to choose Bitcoin. Let's say Bitcoin is a rare item, if Bitcoin is increasingly scarce the price will also increase

I would choose the Bitcoin, in two years it would be more likely to still have some value while Ripple will go to zero once people realise that Banks are never going to adopt a blockchain they don't own and control for international money transfers.

Weird question as for me. In other words, you ask where I will invest money in a fraudulent project where 70% of the capital is concentrated in one hand and it can be collapsed at any time, or into a decentralized currency of the future with limited issue of coins , and deflational model ? Well, perhaps I will choose the second and it will be bitcoin  ::)

Bitcoin is safer and guarantees profit because Bitcoin is the main crypto that will always control the market.

No doubt, I will choose bitcoin. Although I haven't added encryption for a long time, I can see from every market change that only Bitcoin can successfully resist the rapid changes in each market, and Bitcoin is the only cryptocurrency that will not be controlled by one person.

I wouldn't have a second thought about this.

I will never exchange bitcoin for any altcoin if someone would give me money to invest on crypto's.
Other says that you should not put the egg in one basket and i can say that this 2 coin is good to hold for long term. Still the big percentage of my investment is in bitcoin because all of thing i can do with bitcoin and the other coin can not, time to time we can used our bitcoin hold or cashing out easily unlike the other coin that we need to convert it to bitcoin before able to withdraw
I can't say if the other one is also a good long term hold. XRP is centralized and this isn't the same as bitcoin.

I'll stay to bitcoin as this is the greatest portion of my portfolio so don't ever doubt the king.
Bitcoin development Ripple compared much more increased highly able to reliably, because with the progression of this Ripple Ripple is full of struggle to replace and follow the development of the Bitcoin. so with the presence of Bitcoin Bitcoin is so powerful, able to become the mainstay of coins.

People would go for the secure and bet that has assurance and this is with bitcoin.

Many hates Ripple but I won't say that no one believes on it. There many investors that are believing with that centralized coin but being wise of what to choose if someone gives you $10,000 bitcoin is the best choice of all. And having this type of choice, you are giving people a choice of what to choose between gold and stainless.  :D

People compare these two projects as assets in which you can invest. From a financial point of view, I would prefer the asset that is least exposed to market dynamics, and in our case, Bitcoin itself creates this dynamic.

I will never hold for the long term a coin like ripple, so the choice is very obvious to me and I will choose bitcoin since it is by far the best coin in the market, while ripple is a project that I do not consider to be a cryptocurrency at all since it is not decentralized and that is one of the most important aspects that any coin must have in this market.

Bitcoin, because of the growth chart that we can see in the coinmarketcap, the price of Bitcoin increases very high every year (although there are several years the price drops, as happened this year) but the growth in the price of Bitcoin is also very fast when the price drops and it proves that Bitcoin is very strong and worth it to be used as an investment in the long term (2 years) compared to Ripple, allowing us to make big profits if we choose to invest in Bitcoin within 2 years compared to us choosing to invest in Ripple.
