I think by now people have learned their lesson very well. We have matured and I think no one is really listening to those people anymore. And those who kept listening will understand later what those guys are really up to. Those attacking bitcoin have their own agenda behind. And by the way, Facebook has already made a U-turn and no longer banning crypto ads as far as I know.

Mainstream is called mainstream for a reason. Because it is generally accepted stuff. These names you have mentioned are actually big names. They are guys who have achieved quite a lot in their own fields. So, it is only expected that folks look up to them. And when you look up to someone even unconsciously, you listen to them most of the time. The point many people are not seeing though is that being a genius in one field doesn't qualify you to be an expert in the other. Cryptocurrency is an entirely different world of its own. Something that most of these folks are not used to.

While you are correct you need to understand that people are just too used to believe what they are told by the media, you just need to listen to some people talk about bitcoin and you will hear the same points brought by the media, they like the idea of being informed but as soon as you question them about it it shows they do not know what they are talking about, so let them believe whatever they want they will be the ones regretting not investing in bitcoin or investing too late and losing their money.

You are true OP, however people still believe what they say but can't see what they do. They say crypto is bad, their words have some meaning among people so they try to get rid of opponents, then silently develop their own crypto and blockchain projects.

The media is a tool that can be manipulated by the whales and major players to dictate the market flow.
It also the main source of information globally, I say you filter the news you get, to separate reality from frabicated updates.

It is impossible to do what you are saying, the price of bitcoin and altcoin moves based on the news, so if you want to do trade, if you want to buy or sell bitcoin or altcoins, you are obliged to read the news all the time, see the example of those days about the SEC's decision. Now you know how powerful our media is, and as well as the biggest names in our industry today. Imagine that, just a simple combination of the two was so powerful that they can create hype or FUD which results sudden changes in the market . But anyway, you still have the final decision in the end whether you will go with the flow and let their statements influence you or never listen to them and think independently. This only means that if you lose coins due to this then it's your own fault, it's your money in the first place and you are the only one responsible for it.

You have stated op that banks are blocking crypto, which is totally depends in your country.  In my country they are actually slowly adapting the idea of cryptocurrency and accepting payments with sister branches, for example i can use my bitcoin (but need to be converted to fiat)  to buy something online, with my account number in a certain bank.

This is what we should do, I have seen several instances of people that are very intelligent say to me that bitcoin is a scam or something like that, so they may be very intelligent and be very good at what they do but when it comes to bitcoin there are as ignorant as most people and their opinion is worth nothing, so regardless of the individual we should always listen to what they actually say if it makes sense then we must listen to them but if it doesn't then we must ignore it.

Banks cannot block cryptocurrency even if they attempt to make the activities surrounding it a frustrating one, but at the end it is really a war they cannot win.

That aside, listening to mainstream media is never the problem, but acting on everything that comes out from the mainstream media is where the problem really is as this is what a lot of people do when it comes to news, which most times are just a means by some group of people in partnership with these media outfits to play with the market to their own favor since it is a decentralized space anyway and no one is holding them responsible for it.

The reason they keep doing that is simply because they take those who listen to any word that come out of their mouth as fools. Unfortunately, the mainstream media is so much tied to their spreading of fake news and they care less as long as it is generating a lot of traffic for them since bad news sells the most anyway and would rather be making more money than what the community has to gain. This makes me to wonder why people then still pay attention to all that comes out from the mainstream media.

As an educated investor, I don’t easily listen to this kind of news but many people are still follow those people who talk negative about the market maybe because of lack in experience or they are just really depend in news. But since the market trend follows the news, you must also consider this when you are trading in the market.

It is a good idea to take into account all factors affecting a market, even if some of that news might be influenced or biased or has some agenda - it might lead to some opportunities that might arise that may not otherwise have been there. But yes everything does need to be taken with a grain of salt.

I like the word educated investors but unfortunately, we have just few of this in the space because almost everyone in this space is a greedy investor since the mindset they had was to get rich quickly and never bothered to learn and understand the nature of the market they are investing in.

True! Anything that comes out of the media these days is false, unverified and just a way to drive in traffic and all those forms of ethics in journalism is now a thing of the past.

Unfortunately, people will always want to keep paying attention since most people are new, and they would rather want to know what is going on whether it is true or not, to be able to make market decisions. Some are just smart enough to see if it is indeed reliable information or just a fake one.

The news has a huge impact on the cryptocurrency market so the mainstream news can completely help the market recover after a long period of decline. Because the market is small compared to its potential, I am very hopeful that there will be new sources of investment that will help boost the market.

The reason they follow the mainstream media for their investment decisions is precisely because they are not educated investors, they know they do not really have the capability of making money in this market without help and they look for that help in the media not understanding that the media is not there to help them but to take away their money from them.

But I'm against of spreading fake and false news, this really leads the market into a situation where it shouldn't be. There's a recent the same thing happened about Goldman Sach's news that they stated news spreading about them opening a crypto trading desk were fake.

Those mainstream media has done more harm than good to the Cryptos world, they do lay emphasis on the bad side of Cryptos thus sending a wrong signal to people invariably resulting to FUD and panic, this had discouraged potential investors to put in their hard earned money into the system.

They gonna get the share easily for the reason that they had a lot of resources/capital to create their own or to have some. Also they will dominate the market since they have a big name/personality, but we are more bigger if we merge all our assets. People who listen and act on those mainstream media news are the ones that have done more harm than good. The truth is that this is a speculative market and that is because a lot of greedy people are just popping up daily all in the name of getting rich overnight and they tend to understand less what they need to know about the space before investing to always help them inform any decision they want to make.

People in this category are always susceptible to listening and acting on fake news from the media which I believe are the main targets anyway.

News these days are even impacting less on market movement as people now tend to rely on technical details than fundamentals and probably just add up the two together to make a trade.

I have also seen that listening to media will make someone do a business mistake. Some people saw many opportunities last year but because they listened to the media, they didn't buy bitcoin when it was rising but they later express a regretful thoughts.

The point is, since these media said their FUD about bitcoin, cryptocurrency still is growing and listening to people's views most times don't help, media is made up of individuals and their ideas. I don't take to such crap.

Crab mentality. People or community will keep on launching fake and negative news just to pull them down and do what they want to do that benefited them. Thats also what you called business , where you will earn in favor of you and just a little more to others. If you are open minded and think out of the box, you will still become faithful to crypto.

Listen to mainstream media on cryptocurrency at your own disadvantage. They simply know that they want to make you panic and sell your cryptocurrencies at a ridiculously cheap price and they cease the opportunity to buy cheap. You have to be wise. Do not allow anyone to use FUD to fool you.

I guess everyone should use our common sense because crypto journalism is one of the worst we have seen. You open this thread long time ago but it is showing the reality of today.  Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies market are in bad shape today because of the ways we read the fake news from mainstream media.  There are controlling traders' emotions through bad and fakes news about cryptocurrency market in other for some of the top short to be able to buy at a cheaper price and sell back again when the market appreciate.

I don't know why people failed to read in between the Lines. the poster was making a viable points why the mainstream media should not be trusted some times. they are misleading. it shows how the so called billionaires of the current industries are trying to outsmart the crypto community again to enrich themselves but it will not work.

Sadly though, there are a lot of noobs investors who is not educated how the market is being played specially by media and the whales. There are even reports that has been lost in translation causing lots of panic before but since the damage has been done, it's hard to reverse it as noobs already fall for the trap.

Personally i didnt react on any of these stories when they surfaced but im
sure plenty of others did. These prominent people and companies just use
their voice and reputation to affect the markets to their own requirements.
We really need to pay little attention to what they say.
Bear in mind there will be plenty more scare tactics this year so stay calm
and dont panic.

That is because there are a lot of people are lazy to make research first before they believe on things that are released in the mainstream. They only depends like it only speaks the truth but they are just paid to magnify small things and make a devastating impact just like on btc.

how did you know it ?  maybe you are also lazy right ? Theres nothing wrong to be lazy and believe on the mainstream media  because most informations that they produce are highly accurate than compare to non mainstream media  .  


i didnt react of the news was purely made of bad news but i reacted too much if the news is good .  i believe some others will do . 

I think if all those people just read this forum they will be better informed than those media which might give you miscommunication as they might also not understand fully. So better to follow this forum to get the exact results or the meaning if some news or event occurred and ignore the media.

Big factors for those who able to read things out here, as the realizations of everything can be discussed inside this forum, if people learned how

They are purposely creating fud to intentionally bring down the price. A manipulation to help bring down the crypto market where they can ride the boat and invest into much cheaper price. For me if someone says the price will go down to $2800 i do the opposite and buy. The accumulation phase has started better cost average.

That is the work of the media and they often report bad news including those come froma polluted sources it will easily attract readers, in other words, bad news sell more than the good news. Many crypto related news are negative contents like FUDs and this kind of news are already paid by someone or a groupthat want to spread doubt on some coins. Better to examine the news that you are reading to find if the reports are true.

This is always been part of the market where media would always have the tendency on spreading either positive or negative as they like and since we know that they are under governments jurisdiction then

Ever since I got into cryptocurrency, I have never had time for most of these medias. I just focus on my own, although some times I do check what they have to say. But when it comes to trying to discourage me, nah, I never agree to that. Cryptocurrency has helped me a lot of and I’ve reached a level I never expected to reach, even if it ends today, I’m still good. As for now, I’m not going call it a quit.

This isn't surprising, they will say anything as long as it lines their pockets.  Generally it is best to do the opposite of what mainstream media figures are telling you.  Buy when they say everything is dead.  This new JPmorgan coin is going to be a joke and I would suggest no one touch it with a 10 foot pole.

I think that when major players have to buy somehow they try creating fud int he market so that it crashes and then they enter and buy at lower price. Thus then prices start to rise as they buy in bulk qty leading to help them make profits in coming time and thus we should be buying during the dips.

Its generally opposite and we have seen it for how many times on where these medias telling some news which do really opposes on what would possibly happen.For

I came to know about some employees are demanding about salary in BTC by 2013 in Yahoo news which made be curious to know more about bitcoins (it was like when other people were rushing to have bitcoins, why myself also should not). Hence, we cannot ignore mainstream media completely as they got their own power to serve for cryptos at positive times.

The meaning, JP Morgan, Facebook, Bill Gates and the Bank, feel easy, able or able to do it because they have sufficient funds to build it. It didn't bring any effect in the market because there are no buyers and most of the crypto enthusiast just decided to still dump their coins, simple as that. Anyways, I'm sure that you have heard about JPMorgan's plan to have their own token (note I say token because I don't consider them coins or cryptos), it didn't have any effect at all because in this case, then just decided to used it privately. So just prepared to see lots of mainstream media attacking bitcoin, but we all know that it won't have that drastic effect because we might be at the tail end of a bearish cycle.

I agree we mustn't ignore the mainstream media but like with everry other source of information we have to be careful about the content and use the comon sense and criticism. That also applies to social media, different blogs, so called expert opinions and articles and similar. There are reasons why people look up to these geniuses, and that’s because they have been into similar fields for a long time and they have been very successful in it. So, everyone now believes that what they are saying is the truth and when they tell people not to buy they will all not buy. A lot of bad news happened to the bitcoin and I think almost of that hapoened in the year 2018 which cause for the market to dump. The media had been the major culprit who awash the populace with bad news about cryptos which culminated to the market dumping 2018, the negative news had really hit hard and influenced a lot of investors who are willing to invest last year, I just hope the same scenario will not repeat again this year as our expectations in cryptos is rife and I had made up my mind not listen to any main stream news regarding to cryptos.

I can't agree more, it's their way to dictate the people what they should do. While the price are too low, they take the advantage of telling the people to stay away from it or as much as possible they are discouraging it so they are the ones to acquire the cheapest coins.

Which means they are creating what they have rejected either by the media or indirectly by them, that is why it is very important to stop listening to what media says, i think by now noobes already learnt their lesson and i also discover that news rarely move the market anymore.

Thank you for your advice but in this market that is how it do happen and those mainstream media are the one moving the market.  If we really desires to make some profit in future then we have to follow what the big players are doing to make profits.

The point about OP's media criticism is that, the media can not be excluded from the society and from the happenings around the globe. You take a media out, you kill information. This is to say that, there could be modicum of reality in certain things that are said in the media. Although, some big wings pay media experts to air their mind, intention and ambition but overall, they rumors still contribute to information.

Truly. That is happening when the market went bearish. Most newbie got out of their calmness and started to starled and panic in the sudden downfall of the crypto market. People still need a lots of thing to learn and understand.

I agree that we should take the benefits too from what they said to the public, but I am sure that it will not give a big effect if many people don't listen to them. The widespread usage of fiat currencies is a relatively new development in the history of the world, for most of the history of the world we have used currencies backed by something and if you were to ask the average person about this many will say to you that the dollar is backed by gold when that has not been the case since the 70s, this show us the wilful ignorance of the people in the subject and this is because they are not interested in informing themselves about it since everything seems to be OK.

But once this collapses they will begin to look for answers and you can be sure they are going to try to make the government to tax gold and bitcoin users because they will argue that somehow our profits should be shared with everyone even if we have been warning about that scenario for a long time.

There's nothing bad about listening to what the media has to say, there are some good information you can grab from them. Yes, some of them do spread news to deceive people, but it is left for you to choose what you think is right and what you believe is not, that is just up to you.

There are news that are able to move the market, when you get such information, it's better to stay out the market for a while and wait till the market goes down and you can get back in, cause sometimes these big companies say all these things just to make the market price to fall so they themselves will use that opportunity to buy in at cheaper rate.

Even news site also sharing fake news about the bitcoin but the real bitcoin users and traders know the real fact about the blockchain mainstream technology. BBC, CNN, CCN and many news sites sharing such news so be careful.

CCN is worst though, I read news there but I totally not believing every shit they put on their websites. Most of the time I really look at the main source as much as I can so see what's been lost in the translations so yes, we need to be very very careful.

Exactly. We had shitty teachers at school and shitty textbooks but there was still a lot of good things to be gained even from shitty teachers and shitty textbooks (I can read and write so that's proof my shitty teachers knew something after all).

Funny thing is that I know the time JP Morgan said those trash words, and it actually deceived some people and they are the ones who out there cursing JP this time,lol. I never took his word cause ,well, I was just ready to take the risk and I wasn’t ready for any thing that tried getting to my way.

Now the same JP that said all that now has their own coin and fighting for the top position even, and they also invest in bitcoin. So I don’t really have time for all these people cause I know already that what they do is deceive people.

I think investors are really getting mature and know when to buy and not buy news in the market right now. They have seen it done in the past and learn from this mistakes of just listening to mainstream media. JP Dimon attack is still fresh in my memory, and then they bought huge amount of bitcoin for their clients and they make a ton of profit for themselves. Sorry op, but you're wrong. When JP Morgan was criticizing Bitcoin and blockchain users, the price dropped to a very low rate. Assuming that we all decides to turn deaf ears to what the media has to say, then those of us who thought the price is going to drop and quickly sold our coins and waited for the price to drop wouldn't have done so.

Oh, and we did benefit from it, cause we sold our coins and wafted for the price to drop to a low price and then bought at cheaper price and after then there was a bull run. You should always know whats happening in the media to know when someone with influence speaks, cause people like that tends to control the market most of the times, a lot of people listens to them.

One thing you should know about cryptocurrency is that not everybody will benefit from it. There are lots of people that are involved in this and everyone is fighting hard to earn something out of it, and a lot of people want to make quick money, but one thing is that it’s never going to favor everyone involved. There are people who are going to lose and those that are going to win. So it’s left for you, if you’re wise enough, then do what you believe is right and let others do theirs.

I know what you are saying that everyone will not become rich in crypto but the tech if adopted is still a win-win for all of us.  Just imagine if the blockchain ledger is implemented in all government transactions then the world will become a better place. In our country, politicians always do projects where they buy substandard materials so they can put most of the money on their pockets instead.

Well, it is impossible that any market is going to benefit everyone, there needs to be some winners and some losers and for every great story that you hear about someone making a fortune you are going to find many more people losing everything they have, this is why many accuse cryptocurrencies of being a market for scammers but the truth is that most of those people were not prepared to face the harsh competition they are going to encounter and they try avoid their responsibility that way.

So if we want to get benefits out of this market then we need to be better than most traders around the world, something that is not easy taking into consideration the great interest that cryptocurrencies have sparked during the last decade.

There are always some master minds behind such mainstream news. This might be called as a business running strategy as we all know listening to a news like "Facebook is on the verge on banning cryptocurrency" will make peoples think that the price for bitcoins reach the bottom and they sell as early as possible.

Once, they sell their coins, the big whales start buying at the dip as already they know the truth behind the news so they are the one's here who will be in profits. Depending on any such news source is really non-appreciable. Always invest without own research and sometimes thinking differently can make us have more profits rather than going along with the flow.

By any chance, if the cryptos are been accepted by the financial monetary system then we surely can see something great coming towards cryptos. There will be a lot of politicians, rich peoples who would pour their investments into the cryptos rapidly which will burst the volume up and will also make most of the prices hike up.

Then the situation might change and we can see everyone who comes in the field to cryptocurrecies going rich. Such time might soon happen if the community keeps on trusting bitcoins and all other currencies until the end of something positive coming up. Even now, majority of the community has a financially stable life only with the help of the decentralized world transactions.

Bottom line, this topic is from a year ago! Since than we have JP Morgan that is making their own stable coin, they announced that. We have facebook that plans to make their token too. Price is rising, community is growing. Being here is a win win situation for all those who stash some coins for the future, bitcoins, ethereums, dogecoins, you name it, as long as you believe in it be here, earn and learn more, it will pay out one day for sure, don`t look at the headlines, they pass for a day, bitcoin stays!

Most of what we watch is an attempt at manipulating us and it is delivered in a way to try to make people react without thinking, this is why the first thing you must do after you hear something shocking regarding bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency is to think about what you want to do after listening to it and most of the time you will realize that your natural impulse goes against what benefits you in the long term.

The mainstream media is constantly badmouthing everything that gives more freedom and autonomy for common people. They are so audacious, that their narratives don't even make sense, as we can see on the original poster of this thread.
Depending who is using, crytpo currency is wrong, but if you belong to the media circle group, then it's right: nothing is wrong if you are my friend, but everything is wrong if you aren't my partisan.

This is why I don't really believe too much on sudden news that do pops out with these news outlets.I can say that if not all,but majority of them is manipulative.

If you do let yourself do react too much basing into those news then you would most likely to lose money on your investment steps.Just act according into your believe and knowledge
and don't rely too much on media on where you do get these news as reference.

You called them mainstream  so that means we are meant to listen to what they have to say, but it is not every word they drop that we are going to take. Cryptocurrency is not something anyone can predict, even experts are finding it hard to predict what's going to happen next in cryptocurrency market. I have seen a lot of experts do wrong maths, like a lot of times. So we just have to be very careful and wise. Take April for an example, no one ever thought that the price of bitcoin was going to enter that short bull, which it still continued till now. If you see anything they say as wrong, then go for what you think is right.

You can't even imagine what russian television says about crypto world...

When someone gives you an advice, you're not meant to take everything, you take only the ones you feel are the right advice out of it. So I don't see why you should be advising people to stay out from the media, there is no need for anyone to be doing such. There are very important news that you can miss out on just because you're staying away from the media. It's good to be updated, you can't do it yourself… listen to what the media has to say and then decide for yourself whether that is right or not. If it's not right then forget about it and move on. That's it.

Im not affected to whatever news spreading on crypto world as far as i know that it wont make any effect on the market.  Once youve affected by the news your now one of the weak hands.

We require people like you who do not go with the flow of the media or some reports which demotivates people and effect the market as fall happens in the market due to which many times we have seen dip in the market happening and resulting in longer time to recover form the fud news.

This is why I always tell people that if they are going to invest in something they need to be completely convinced about what they are doing because the media will present all kind of contradictory information that will make you doubt of your decision if you were not sure about it, while I do not know anyone personally that is investing in crypto I have known people that were investing in stocks and they lost money following the media.

When we started our journey here, we don't know that there are some people who's task is to spread bad news and publicity about bitcoin. So there could be newbies before who sold, but they learn their expensive lessons.

But as you can see with the sentiments right now, we are not affected by any negative news, that's why we continue to march on a bullish trend.

Because of most likely people now already aware that social media's used by whales to manipulate the bitcoin price and other cryptos.
You were right bitcoin price did not affect this now because as we can see bitcoin price was continuously growing up and I think whales are tired of manipulating the market.

Media are fond of deceiving people, but I think it all depends on which media you're relying on. And you shouldn't be relying on just one source. When you read news from a site, you should as well do your research if that news is so important, to see if there are other opinions that people have about that same news, then it will be up to you to know which one is saying the truth and which one is not. There are news that you shouldn't miss out on, news that can push the market to a different direction, and you shouldn't miss out on such news. So it's always up to you on what you choose to listen to.

For sure those who sells their expensive saving, it is not good to sell your investment only by listening to the bad or the good news all of us are investors better make your own prediction and take decision according to the need of the market if the price is good we can invest our money at low price sell for higher, but never listen those whales who only think about their benefit and spread bad news to take advantage of newbie’s.

Only thing should be set up on your mind is always verify everything if news are pure fud,shill or a serious one but it doesn't mean that
you would completely rely into those stuffs if you do make some trades and basing purely on these informations or fundamentals.
