Generally speaking how much space does a blockchain need? If I delete roaming/coin folder will this delete the downloaded blockchain?

Which coin? You're in the altcoin section. I'd guess Litecoin has the largest blockchain of the alts... it takes up a bit over 2GB. Scamcoins probably won't run you much over 200MB. Doge is probably somewhere between Scamcoins and Litecoin... maybe 800MB-1.5GB.

Altchains grow in size with time and use, though they can be heavily influenced by a particular coin's features.

To delete blockchain in Windows, you'd probably want to go to C:\USERS\"PC Name"\AppData\Roaming\"Coin Name" and delete everything in there but the wallet file(s). The AppData folder is hidden by default in Windows, so make sure you unhide it (Ctrl Panel -> Folder Options).
