Title: how does shit keep getting hacked?
Post by: JungleEskimo on June 12, 2018, 09:32:29 PM
recently the south korean crypto exchange coinrail was hacked and added to the FUD. Or do you think maybe... just maybe... they just get "hacked" and shrug their shoulders and say "oops"

I think there is a possibility for that, but the korean police have been investigating its incident. A lot of tokens has been stolen by the scammer. Maybe there is an inside people that have alreayd involved in this hacked case.

I hope those actors will be caught by the police.

Thanks for the link Sir, Yes there is a possibility of inside job, and the problem is how to prove for the involvement of those guys, this might be the reason of Bitcoin price and Altcoin were falling down, I think this one of the most exaggerated incident about cryptocurrency. Hoping that these will be recover someday.

Its not even a shit. I think every hacker still wants to hack an exchange even if on the exchange account there is only 1 Ethereum, and I do not think there is any exchange, they have a very large BTC / ETH estimation

With so many exchanges appearing almost daily, I'm afraid we are going to see this happening more often. Unless they all started considering security their top priority. It is not enough even that, they simply have to have the right people capable to ensure security. The linked article suggests that the attacker managed to steal ETH, along with some other ERC-20 coins. Good thing in all of this seems to be that some of the assets that the attacker tried to sell on IDEX are now frozen.

I think this incident involves an insider from Coinrail itself, because I think every market exchange has more security than a normal wallet. The negative impact of this, is very influential on some altcoin prices that continue to decline

Centralized exchanges are always vulnerable to hackings. We all should use decentralized exchanges but I know there is no dex as good as a centralized exchange gdax or binance. There only project I know that will beat them it is OAX.

for me this is very disappointing, because we have not forgotten at the beginning of the year that coincheck has been hacked and now coinrail also hacked. i am confused why should korea? how their security system is and why not learn from experience. what next? bithumb?

hopefully the problem is quickly resolved, it is very destructive to the market and the impact is so obvious once the market becomes down

It is certainly going to be its own vigilance for more. a crime like this is unfortunate and should be resolved immediately by the police. If left constantly then crypto will be severely threatened security and result in bad time.

Nowadays, it's hard to believe that a hack like this is an inside job taking into account that these robberies are investigated by the police and that the exchanges compensate their users for their losses. What is clear is that the exchanges must reinforce their security measures to prevent these hacks from recurring.

I still think a lot of that is in fact inside job, it is easy to have funds in cold wallet yet they dont do it and get hacked for everything?
I dont buy it, a two year old wouldnt loose everything
