If I were to enter into cryptocurrency trading today, my portfolio would look like this: I've been trading some of these names for quite a while, but for holding I try to keep a 20% balance between each of the 5 (+1) coins mentioned below:

1) NEO (20%)

2) KMD (20 %)

3) PCL (Peculium, new entry, 20%)

4) MTC (Docademic, new entry, 20%)

5) ETH + ZEC (10+10= 20%)

This will be a buy & hold strategy with regular monthly adjusments between 5-8 coins, unless some spectacular circumstance merits more immediate action.

This is very risky portfolio to me I assume you probably had lots of research or you want to risk a lot and make more money?  Neo is very good choice for the LR.

Friends, I don't think your investment style is ideal. I am not referring to projects. It's your allocation. It looks professional. In fact, it is not ideal. You don't have to disperse so much.

Is this a portfolio that you actually hold or it's just an idea to see how it would perform if you did? I find it's a worthwhile distinction because it's much easier to make tough decisions if it's just an experiment compared to if you have cold hard cash involved. Either way, good luck.

Thanks for the interest and insightful comments. This is not a 1 to 1 exact replica of my personal portfolio, but it comes close enough as I hold considerable positions in all of the names mentioned. We can go over each of the selections if you would like to find out more.

I also manage assets professionally for external clients, and if an investor came to me with a fresh 10k USD, I would be very comfortable allocating it exactly in the manner presented above, and holding it for at least a month starting from yesterday.

I agree with the portfolio you have created, but I will give you a little suggestion to enlarge again the allocation for NEO and ETH. Maybe you can consider taking 5% of each KMD, PCL and MTC to be added into ETH and NEO.

I am not sure about Peculium, but Docademic is a good project which is hyped. That can mean that it can hit a better price, especially after the listing on bigger exchanges. Komodo is also a good technology and platform with a big potential.

During this bear market the full potential of alt coins will not be reached. Everything goes down with bitcoin, it's annoying. Let's wait for the market to calm down a little bit. Portfolios are more or less meaningless now just like they were during the bull market, everything was up, now everything is down.

I view your portfolio carefully and I think that it's a good one in bull market. Frankly, the crypto market has dumped for more than 6 months and there's no signal for the Bull to return, even a pull back. Holding is good but it's not wise enough for you because middle-term supported areas were broken very easily. Due to that, according to technical analysis, btc will gradually test long-term supported area in the time to come.

I understand how you feel and that is why for the past two weeks I stop trading and just concentrate on promoting many good ICOs in my social media accounts. It is better to be safe than sorry later. However, I also understand that whether the market can be up or down there will always be rare gems of opportunity and that is what OP is trying to tell us. I hope I can be as good as those who can be able to convert money in a down market.

Day 3 update, the portfolio is now 14% up during what certainly would not qualify as a bull market :)

I understand the concerns though, and I agree there is a lot of fake black propaganda and political pressure against Cryptos now.

A bit more weight on ASIC resistant and anonymity coins might be considered as a lesser volatility play.

I suggest you have look at ICX, its lowest price now, potential project is supported by korea.
$NEO is supported by chinese, so it is good choice to hold more.

A quite interesting experiment. Will you rebalance or will keep this portfolio for further investigation? I think some of the selected coins are ambiguous. But I will watch for results.

the prediction is too far away, if each coin has a 20% profit potential that becomes too risky. you can not generalize the benefits of different coin trading, unless you provide a complete reference to the exchanger

Your portfolio seems to be in a good position, even neo still in a downtrend more or less it will bounce back, you are lucky or really good in finding coins to support, you already gained a lots of money for just 2 weeks of holding, maybe it will be much bigger when the market for NEO and ETH start to pumped high together with bitcoin,.

Thanks for the great comments, I will rebalance monthly, unless something spectacular happens. This increase in MTC is in line with my expectations, so I keep them long till at least their next monthly airdrop.

I will only record trades on this portfolio if I also take the equivalent trades in real life.

I would recommend everybody to hold at leat 50-60% into your Bitcoin or Ethereum to stay safe, because alts are going down very fat and they don't have so much support like Ethereum or Bitcoin. I am holding 70% into BTC, that worked fine for me in the last couple of years!

Yeah, for sure, you can profit from ICO's even during bear trends. Obviously it's a bit harder now but ICO's are the only ones able to generate 2x or 3x in this market. Diversifying in ICO's does make sense.

I think this is a rather risky investment portfolio. I would allocate most of the portfolio to Ethereum and NEO. But in the end, you decide and see what you get out of it.

An excellent investment portfolio, with a moderate degree of risk. I would add Bitcoin to the portfolio to minimize the risk of losses.
