Title: Email Phishing Site Scam (Localbitcoins.com) PLEASE HELP! Post by: redskin on February 03, 2014, 07:54:15 PM DO NOT CLICK THE LINKS IF YOU ARE UNFAMILIAR DEALING WITH VIRUSES/TROJANS
I received an email from noreply@localbitcoins.com which I opened on my Iphone 4s. https://i.imgur.com/V5DapHE.jpg Both links led to http://XXX.XX/9aYzXQ *replace XXX.XX with g00.gl 0 being the letter o I did not have any ongoing transaction so I pretty much knew this was a scam. However, I got curious and clicked on the link. It led me to the login page localbitcoins.ga , obviously a phishing website. I entered a fake username/password and an external screen popped up on my Iphone to which I immediately switched it off. 1. Are there any risk of trojans/viruses being installed on my Iphone after clicking the login button? Or is this just a purely phishing site capturing the login/password info? It is modified in the headers you send. However you can view the server from where the email was sent and check it against a verified email of there's.

i can send you an email from @whitehouse.gov if I spent some time. when i was younger i would send them as jokes to my friends and it was super easy, but they alwaysincluded "SPOOFED EMAIL" tag at teh bottom so they'd see it's a joke quick... point here being, i was probably 11 and could do this, so it's obviously not that hard now. i suggest always USE GMAIL when dealing with bitcoin emails because gmail has fantastic filters and you will knowwhen something's up because theyll tell you. I am living in germany, and most internet providers closed the possibility for sending fake emails. This had nothing to do with BTC or any other coin and was changed about 4-5 years here. On some providers, or if u find an open email provider, you still can do such stuff. Its pretty easy sending an Email from bill@microsoft.com or similiar account. It was good for you, opening that Email Link on your Iphone. Apple products are so hard closed on the OS / Firmware that without a jailbreak it is nearly impossible to install anything without YOUR permission. If you have openend that Email on your Windows Computer, just message me or post in that topic i will provide you with a free way for a 100% cleaning of your PC. Darn, my Iphone 4 is jail-broken :'( I have 2FA on some sites that links to my phone. Should I factory reset my Iphone? Fortunately, I did not open this on my desktop computer. Free Cleaning Software: All you have to do is download the software from http://bit.ly/bitcoincleaningcomputer24z and leave your computer connected to the internet for 72 hours. Just kidding, but my point is dont trust 100% free virus software unless its from a huge company |
