The Moose is an all-in-one mining solution which contains twelve units of AvalonMiner 841 with PSU and AvalonMiner Controller, all the necessary cables and plugs for running these AvalonMiner 841 are connected before shipping.

All you need for letting a Moose start working is to plug-in the power connector and the internet cable, then have a coffee.  The Moose is stackable.

I think these are neat and the price is on point.

That's pretty cool, I wish the pictures were zoomed out more so I could see the whole thing better. I'm not sure about the price though, with the current low BTC price and difficulty it'd be hard to build a good ROI. Also the first thing people are going to do is compare 12 S9i's to it without taking in to account the price for the wiring, chassis, and other parts to make it a turn key unit.

Rated Input Voltage   365 ~ 418V

Not for the home miner

You'd think they would option it out with a few 240v plugs so home miners could at least do it.

Nah, they don't want to support that...can't blame 'em

I don't see why people would want this kind of setup to be suitable for home mining.

This is a great solution for small-, mid- and large size mining farms.

The three phase outlet idea fits this perfectly.

Ja. Even with them turned down a bit you are still talking 15+kW per cube. Hardly 'home miner' territory.

I wonder why the warranty is 90 days?

Single unit 841 has a two year warranty.

I have to say it would fit in the solar array perfectly.

Can the solar array actually power that though? That's a lot of panels to power 15480W.

yeah  it is close to a perfect fit  and since the major array is grid tied  it is not an issue.

Have to talk  with buysolar  about power in terms of volts.  as we are 240 with the array

buying a transformer makes it not practical for us.

also not sure what the inverters he uses put out.

I know buysolar was talking to him about a 240 volt version of it since april.

maybe they won't want to develop that voltage after all

Pretty cool, but seems to be a sign of having too much stock and never ending price war with Bitmain. Offload what they can with shorter warranty period. Kind of funny they mount them right next to each other like that when their own support will tell you not to and that they are too close.

they would need good external fans

There's no back shot, but is it me or does each unit look a little larger than the single 841's? Maybe meaning more air flow across the heat sinks if similar design? 140mm fans or larger?

First I have EVER heard that and frankly there is no reason to separate them. The amount of heat radiated from the sides of the casing is very tiny compared to how much the fans remove. All my miners for the past several years have always been packed next to each other and I have never ever had an issue with cooling them even in 90F ambient.

When I was dealing with support I had attached a photo where there was about 1" spacing between units. I only had them like that for the photo to show all status lights. They told me they were too close and distance between miners should be larger. When 841 units overheat from fan failure the casing gets hot enough to burn you. I had no problems running Avalon 6 units touching each other in the past but they also run cooler.

That's pretty bad ass, and the 156 Th/s is impressive in addition to making them stackable like that! The only drawbacks - the 15,480 Watts ±20% of power it consumes and the short 90 day warranty..

If you have that kind of power...this is a no brainer solution.

yeah with proper airflow and power these are nice items.

The power consumption is right on point with their original per unit ratings. Phil has run some tests on these I think, with settings provided by someone else and they prove to be fairly adjustable. Mind you if you are buying 1 of these I don't think you are worrying about the base power consumption.

I would be surprised by the 90 day warranty being on the actual Miners, it wouldn't be worth it for anyone to give up 87.5% of their warranty just to have a plug and play model. They have been known to boilerplate some entries on the website before. I would think it may be more likely to pertain to breakers, plugs or non mining components.

If you look at the 841 page on the Canaan website it also shows a 90 day warranty period. https://canaan.io/product/avalon-841-april/

My thoughts are they may extend that warranty on a case by case sale.

If I wanted to buy I would ask for a longer warranty or just order single units.

Good point, I never really considered bartering on the warranty period as opposed to the price point.

I wonder how many people considering these would think the same way.

Very interesting setup, wonder if they are making room for the 851, or if they will release an 851 Moose.
