Hacking or gaining access to accounts or sensitive data is a far more difficult task. Decentralized systems have their drawbacks too. It doesn't mean they couldn't access sensitive data, probably they just wanted to have the company and their users understand what it is like to be unable to use the service. Hopefully they will be forced to chnage their ways by users in the future. You can be hack, your seller can chargeback or paypal limited you anytime without proper cause.

Are you sure about the gift payment option? I'm sure people have been scammed on here even using that. I'm sure you can still chargeback on your creditcard too.
