Amsterdam Airport has installed ATM that allowed outbound travelers to convert their Euros in two prominent cryptocurrencies Bitcoin and Ethereum.

Reading this news I thought its a great Idea for travelers that they can easily convert their local currencies to Global Currency like BTC and ETH. And also realize cryptocurrencies are being accepted in European region more than other parts of the world.

Its a great news for cryptocurrency indeed as more countries are accepting it and providing facilities to the people. I think every airport should have this kind of ATM machine.

This is extraordinary news for digital currency to be sure as more nations are tolerating it and giving offices to the general population. I figure each airplane terminal ought to have this sort of machine. Such initiative will help the bitcoin as well as the crypto currency more popular in the future.

Yes, I heard that at the Amsterdam airport in Schiphol, we installed a test crypto cash machine. The device offers users two leading crypto-currencies - Ethereum and bitcoin. This is cool :)

Good idea, since travelers will not be able to use that currency anymore after they leave that country why not just convert it in cryptocurrency which can be accessed anywhere you are and be able to sell it when you got back home. But would be better if the airport will also implement a payment system using those cryptocurrency like what australian airport did.

This is very good news. I remember there was this project Investaco. There was something like that. Such terminals I think will contribute to the fact that people who do not know anything about cryptocurrencies will be interested in it.

Seems neat, but I don't know why there would be a demand for something like this in the Netherlands. Maybe it would have some value when it comes to international or intercontinental travelers that don't want to have to pay for the currency conversion rates when they go between Europe and where-ever, but I have no idea. It doesn't seem like the EU overall would benefit from this, but good for them for trying to take the initiative. I have to respect the attempts companies are making to try and get people interested in crypto (again), even after everything that's happened.

Very interesting news for me. I think in the near future will start installing such ATMs in all airports and other public places. It would be very convenient.

Another crypto ATM establisment news. This is really great. Hope this will have some good influence in crypto market. This adaption and acceptance of crypto is really great.

In a few weeks there will be Dether mobile dapp release, then every person at any airport can be an ATM. That is, sell or buy crypto directly to each others using cash. Everyone will be able to turn on the dapp for example at the airport and see on the map how many around the people-ATMs :)

That's interesting. I'm afraid in some countries it will be used for evil. For example how was the bullies that put feeders in Pokemon GO and expect it to fit people with phones.

The idea is intended for visitors who leave the country to go back home, but it's also very interesting for Dutch people who want to travel to countries outside the European Union because they can exchange their currency through BTC or ETH in the country of destination, and even, in the event that they travel to Japan, they can use BTC to make any purchase in the country.

This is very good news, this kind of ATM should be installed in all major airports, and at least in every major city in the world. Just yesterday I read that in my city have installed the first ATM to convert Bitcoin, Ethereum and Litecoin in FIAT money. I hope this is just the beginning of a great development for this sector

Amsterdam is an exceptional country, a brave country, a country that takes risks and challenges. Almost all activities are illegal in other countries but Amsterdam instead of origin is beneficial to his country one of the examples now by placing atm crypto at the airport.

a very good new. there was one also at the airport in my country when bitcoin was not popular at all. but they removed it about 2 years ago. those kind of atms should be more common, it would be great.

I hope to read more and more often these news, because the future of this sector depends on the practical use of cryptocurrencies and the possibility of exchanging them at any time in FIAT money. I hope there are more and more ATMs in every city in the world, not just in airports but everywhere

unfortunately, i have never seen a crypto atm in real life. hope that will change soon. would like to try such an atm.

 Wow that is one great news for us that crypto currencies step by step more countries are interested and blockchhain technology is accepted. Well nothing impossible in this world now. We are in high technology era, then its not surprising hearing this. Maybe in a couple of years all airport have this ATM machines that can transact both digital coins and local currency.

Amazing. It only shows that the bearish moment of crypto market now is just a preparation for its future before it  jumps up. As you  heard of the bitcoin might reach an new ATH before 2018 ends. So we must load up when the price is dip.

in Indonesia, I see only in two big cities for atm cryptocurrency, jakarta and bali, but unfortunately the new regulation makes crypto have to wait to be able to develop in indonesia

A lot of good news are coming across the continent this make the investors to pay more attention on cryptocurrency also it will be very helpful for the travellers as they can make transaction from airport as well. So, now that this thing has been installed for 5 months,,, is there any news or update about how it has fared? 5 months at one of the most central airports in the world, with tens of thousands passing by every day, it must be raking in all the profits. Let us say only 200 people use it for $100 a day, and we all know Bitcoin ATM fees are about 10%, that is an easy $2k just from getting people transacting. So is it this popular at all do we know?

How does that work?
Do you put your debit/credit card in and "withdraw" btc?
As in you type in your address and btc gets sent there?
Although this is great and helps to increase coverage of crypto, in reality, I'm thinking the trade rate would be terrible.

Kind of like when you use a foreign atm machine, you get slapped with all kinds of fees.
I'm thinking the exchange rate is not ideal.
There's actually a similar btc atm Mexico city, but the exchange rate is always 10% to 15% higher than the going rate on coinmarketcap.
I imagine they have to charge more to maintain the machine and deal with blockchain fees.

But still, it would great to take a selfie next to it lol.

A developed country like Amsterdam now accepts crypto I think is too late. As soon as my country has deployed some ATMs a few years ago. But I'm still glad that more and more places accept crypto

another good news for the cryptocurrency industry. aside from japans paying employee salaries in bitcoin, there are numerous of bitcoin atms that are grwoing accross the globe. i have read another one in zimbabwe, a third world country using blockchain technology as hi tech as u.s and japan.

The crypto atm idea is good, I will be happy to convert my leftover Euro for Bitcoin or ETH before I leave Amsterdam for home. Will definitely use it when I go there for holiday next time.

That is exactly how it works actually yes,,, when you buy BTC, you can use a card and I think some ATMs take cash even. You do not type an address, though, you get a receipt with a paper wallet filled with your Bitcoin. So of course you have to go and keep it safe or even immediately sweep the Bitcoin to your own wallet.

Trade rate is terrible indeed. 10% and more. BUT it is convenient and almost instant so maybe people prefer that.

Great news, I like it.  It is necessary to put such ATM in all airports and train stations around the world.  It is time to introduce cryptocurrency into normal use.

That is a good point, because we all not like to carry cash with us. Especially if we are traveling bulk and its difficult. But if you have a cryptocurrency and they have provided an atm on that, you can withdraw money at ease to pay the necessities. Good point also that they establish it on the airport.

Crypto ATM industry is a billion industry and you will see it boom years from now. And with this installation on Amsterdam airport, did somebody here actually used it? I've watched a couple of videos of ATM usage with crypto's and its amazing that you'll likely using a very usual one.

this is good news for ethereum and bitcoin, i think if this is successful there will be mass adoption by travelers and locals to use crypto.
