I wonder how much it would cost to publish something like this in the New York Times like Steve Jobs did years ago....

Maybe another electronic spot could be purchased on a high traffic website via crowd funding here.

Full page color advertisement will cost around $107,075.

Or you can go for a facing 1/2 page color advertisement. Costs $137,370.

F**k it, just post it on Reddit, more people will share and see it anyway. traditional newspapers suck....

The NY Times is having a daily circulation of some 2 million. Do you think that posting in Reddit can achieve similar figures?

Nope, but you don't need to pay $100,000 to post in Reddit...

NY Times would have a far greater impact than reddit. A post on reddit will never make national news, a NY times add could make every financial news show in the country.

If we could crowd source with confidence an ad like this to NY Time, i would be in for 1 BTC.

I guarantee you other crypto coin communities would make this happen.

I was kind of speaking in jest....

still spending $107,075 to maybe get 2 million hits on your advert, if people don't skip past it or posting it on reddit for free and possibly getting linked on other online platforms.

You pay for the $107,075 advert and i'll post it on reddit?

By the time you rasied the funds it would be old info and everyone would be bored of the spewed out memes that would follow the reddit campaign

edit: Also I wouldn't know where to buy the NY times without going to a local hotel or airport i don't think

awesome stuff. u dont need to publish it in any jurassic age paper, popularly known as news paper. upload it in a few free image hosting site and FB. give the image link in the forum and ask webmasters to share it on their websites and BTC enthusiasts to share on their social media handle. it'll reach so many people that no news paper on this earth will ever be able to reach.

I mostly agree with you. It could easly go viral.

But we also should notice that we are talking only about raw number of persons.
The "type" of persons reached could differ very much in these two strategies.
Which kind of target are we pointing to?

Love it. Someone else also posted this one:

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward.” – Apple, Inc.

In an ideal world that would happen. I think recently I've seen more people ditching Apple and their products because of their restrictions as opposed to people blindly singing their praises, but then there's always Apple fanboys...

Thanks for sharing - I put these both up on Facebook.

To another poster's point, the readership of twitter/reddit/facebook are quite different from those reading something like the NYTimes.  Not sure if we could rally the funds but it would make a very large impact on many people in a way that social media can't penetrate right now.

Or just 10 donating $10K, not sure what is more feasible. :D

BTW, I can't see many valid reason to spent that bunch of money for just one printed page.
Probably if we think enought about it, we could either:
- to obtain about same results for free;
- to spend all that money for something more "epic".

I've written apps, 3 to be exact.

Might I suggest the Nexus Phone series.  I switched to android a few years back - started with the Galaxy S2 - then 3 then 4 and now am using the Nexus 5 and I can never see myself straying from any vanilla android phone.

The nexus is probably the best phone for developers, so yeah +1 to that idea. You could always put cyanogenmod on an S4 if you prefer the look of the handset etc but still want that vanilla feel + features.

I was thinking of all the Apple products I've gotten in the past few years.
2 Mac Pros, 2 iMacs, 2 Macbook Pros, 3 MacBooks, a few Airport express, Airport extreme, Time Machine, 3 iPod touch, iPod, iPod Nano, one of each iPads, and every iPhone that has ever come out, as well as 2 more iPhone 3s, and 2 iPhone 5s.
That's a little too much. I need to rethink my life. Thank you Bitcoin for saving me from the iMonster!

LoL

I cannot stop to laugh at the delusional and misleading text the OP did in an attempt to copy the Apple's old advertisement.

Facts:

- No "cryptocurrency" revolution happened 5 years ago.
- Bitcoin do not put the "power of currency" back to people.
- Accepting Paypal or credit cards is not a skill.
- Satoshi Nakamoto's paper do not address any estimation...
- ...of 21 million people willing to buy 1 BTC to benefit speculators.
- Next year the Bitcoin user base will not increase exponentially...
- ...and that did not happened in the last years.
- The Bitcoin "community" could care less about competition...
- ...otherwise there would not be "altcoins".
- The only capital being enhanced is the capital of the speculators and early adopters.

Seems like reddit has issues with it:

I just made a copy of the OP. Clearly it could use revising. Why does anyone think this is some final submission on it's way to the New York Times?  ::)

I don't think an exact copy (font, style, etc) conveys the point that bitcoin is "ahead" of Apple in term of innovation.

I absolutely agree with you.
The font you chose for the bitcoin version clearly indicate a sort of progress from the original one.
Also the colors: contrasty B/W for the original, some light orange, black and gray for the other.

Just a curiosity: in which year that apple advertise was launched?

EDIT:
I'm reading some comments on reddit. Some of their criticisms make sense to me.
Some word and/or period should be revised.
