The common denominator of all these applications – and the real value of the Bitcoin experiment – is a digital basis for trust: the "block chain", which allows transactions to be recorded without reams of red tape. Get rid of the red tape, and you could also get rid of those who make money by dealing with it.

That's something so many even here seem not to understand. The Blockchain is the big invention of Bitcoin.

Not for example "printing" your own money via mining.

I slightly disagree. The bitcoin protocol is the invention. The blockchain, mining, and wallets are just a manifestation.
No.

The blockchain is the greatest invention mankind has produced to date. It makes the internet look like a slinky. You can get away with a lie on the internet, for instance... Try lying on the blockchain. Using this basis to build all kind of applications on is truly going to change the world for the better. It's like injecting integrity deep into the roots of society... Something society is deeply and sadly lacking.
