Title: 7950 Cgminer 350 Kh/s need help modding bios
Post by: krazietek on February 06, 2014, 12:32:53 PM
Hello i have a Single Saphire 7950
I was only able to run reliably at 50c 120 kh/s and now i can get to 350 KH/s with no hardware errors.
I have read that i can unlock my GPU and allow me to shut off boost and the Thread concurrency/memory limits which im hoping can I get to the 500-600 Kh/s that this card is capable of, if some one could help me with some info on what bios i should use with some setup help/settings, that would be great.
The max i can get my settings to with out a ton of hardware errors,

TC = 8192
I = 13
Look up gap = 2

You may refer to the cgminer config there.

Hey try having TC-8000 and then intensity 15. Are you using the same card to run your monitor? If so you will have problems.

Yes i am using that same card to run my monitor. Do you think it would hold me back from 350 Kh/s to the projected ~550KH/s? My board does not have a on board graphics card so i can get a cheap one just to run my video. I used another set GPU/MEM clocks with the 8192 i got to 580 kH/s but my CGminer said "Dead" in the morning.

try

TC = 22400
-I 19
-g 1

g 2 is not good for 7950 that works better on 7970

good luck  :)

i usually run regular script at 630-637ish atm khash and run my monitor off the 7950 also,. I try to use vga with on board graphics but it won't work with 7950 plugged into pcie ports. I tried lots just like Ive been trying to mine this coin for a while but never get past intensity 8, just like I never get past getting my vga to display with the onboard graphics card instead of having to go dvi or whatever the other plug is on the 7950 Raydon

Just so i don't want to leave the thread with what ended up being the issue with my Sapphire 7950.

1. I did not have the set allocation at the beginning of my batch file. I did do it in DOS but for some reason the memory was still being allocated.
What this did was allow me to get over the TC - 8192. Also I added the "del *.bin" at the top of the batch file because of what i read the .bin files can cause issues.

del *.bin
set GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT=100
setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100

2. Also i re-installed windows due to GPU-Z was telling me my AMD drivers were having errors. I was playing with different drivers maybe they all did not get removed properly and causing conflicts.

3. I was having a issue where every hour or so my PC would shut down and i noticed that the USB devices were going to sleep. I had all ready ran through my power settings ensuring they were set to "never sleep/shut down", but i did not do it to the USB or the PCIe settings so i am assuming that did help and or issue #2 might have had something to do with that as well.

I am running at about ~660 kh/s.

Thank you for all the replies!   8)

2. You are advised to remove a driver completely before installing a new one.

3. Is your GPU overheated?

Sonny,

At this time i am running at about 58-60C. I have been running 24hrs with no issues after re-install and adjusting USB/PCIe sleep settings.
