It's just a little extra income. And who knows, maybe in a year or two the "little" may become way more valuable than it is now. And even if it doesn't: getting free coins is not the worst thing on earth, I should think  :P

Look - you create a web site. Put advs on it. You open btc wallet with some BTC inside to pay some mBTC to new users (anyway, to get any pay out you must wait a looong time :P so they have time to collect your uBTC ). After that you make new thread on forum that you have just open new faucet!

Well, many faucets really require you to wait very long for your first payout. But I registered about 2 hours ago, my current balance now is
0.00000328 BTC (you start with 0.00000250) and withdrawal threshold is 0.00000860 BTC. This seems to be one of the good faucets really.

You have two options: a) Be active, get a lot of referrals and thus more coins -> no waste of time at the end of the day
                               b) Do nothing and just passively receive your coins every day -> where's the wasted time here?

For those of you who posted above that the drips are going to amount to like $2 per year - you may be right.  I personally like seeing the tiny drips into my wallet every day, even if it isn't amounting to "real" money.  Plus,there is always a chance that some of these coins skyrocket in value, and the drips actually turn out to be worth a lot more than you expected.  And hell, its free anyway, so there's no real downside.

this smells like a pyramid scheme where the ones on top really only benefit unless the lower people get more referrals under them.

As we all together don't know what BTC, LTC and all the other coins will be worth in a year or two, this is a wrong approach, because nobody now can say what "really only benefit" in this case means. Maybe 0.001 BTC is worth a thousand dollars in two years. Or as jmerme01 put it:

"Payments are automatically sent every Monday if you have Auto-Withdraw ENABLED and your balance is more than 0.00005460 BTC. Your account balance goes into 'PENDING' state on Sunday if you have Auto-Withdraw enabled, and 24 hours later the Bitcoins are sent to your wallet."

The only faucets and pay-to-click sites I bother with now are LTC4YOU (http://ltc4you.com), Litecoiner (http://litecoiner.net/) and BitVisitor (http://www.bitvisitor.com).  None of the others seem to give a decent payout anymore, but those three have served me well.
