Lots of people complained that this is childish, patethic and a waste, since there's people who would love to have their hands on an iphone 5 or iphone5s, and said people can't even afford it.

The world is unfair, and the intention of this stunt was not to promote waste, but to put forth a point.

The point of the original poster was to show the dislike with Apple banning the Blockchain app because they do not like Bitcoin as a competitor.

While a user is not entitled to anything from Apple, and the terms and conditions probably covers it legally for Apple, a move from Apple's side can still be considered an ass wipe move.

I never bought Apple gear, and never will, due to many things. So although some might find this wasteful and pathetic I smirked.

We must also consider the fact that Apple releasing new models all the time to grow their bottom line also is largely wasteful. If they wanted to, they could've created phones that lasted longer, so that users would change phones less often.

So one should see the message here, and not be an uptight twat about it. :)

I don't have any connection to the stunt other than witnessing it happening, but I really thought it was a thing of beauty. Just imagine how powerful people really are if they stand united, the fact that this barely will be noticeable for Apple is another discussion though, still this made me smile.

the people that do this are crazy and need to learn the value of a dollar. like seriously lets just burn some cash uhhh no people need to think about there actions more. they could have sold the phone and gave money to charity or something usefull not just throw it away

I have always thought Apple was a supporter of future technology, bitcoin is the future and if you don't support the future and block any thing that's to do with Bitcoin your company will cease from being the number ONE innovative tech company in the world Smiley I love Apple but if your company Stops believing in the future (bitcoin) than I guess I will have to give up my iPhone for a Android phone or something:!) There is no point in destroying Apple phones. You will not gain anything from it. Use your brain.

Here is the idea: Sell them. And use the money which is earned from those sales to advertise against Apple.

You can boycott their products if you feel you don't agree with their statements but if it is personal property, well if it was mine, I would of kept it. But his phone is not mine so it's not my decision to make.

As far as I know, blockchain app has been in Cydia forever now... Anyone who cries over apple limitations obviously never heard of a jailbreak. lol

Those who complain about waste do not see the entire picture. My first post explained this clearly.

I will repeat the point: The point is to make a statement about how it is wrong of apple to ban bitcoin apps from the app store.

While they're in their full right to do so, this is not what benefits the users, but it benefits Apple and their bottom line.

We live in a society where the bottom lines of companies are more important than embracing new technologies.

This stunt got the attention of the media, and I guess that's what the man behind the idea intended to, to get attention about the issue. Going on an on about how it's such a waste is a waste of time.

If you're looking at the big picture, you'll see what I'm saying.

Again, I'm not involved in this in any way except as a spectator, and I found it amusing. I don't condone waste, but I think it was an interesting way of making a point. In this day an age, if you want to make a point, you must do something of shock value, or else nobody will care.
