Title: What is the correlation between Bitcoin and altcoins price movements?
Post by: Bit talk on June 23, 2018, 12:25:24 PM
🔥Tip Based on G-20 positive sentiment seems like most alts reached the rock bottom and might start growing from here following BTC.

What is the correlation between Bitcoin and altcoins price movements?

Usually it goes like this:
1. BTC goes up slowly or sideways => ALT coins grow fast. It happens because hungry traders are not satisfied with a slow BTC growth and start to buy alts.

2. BTC goes to the moon quickly => ALTS go down or sideways. It happens because people quickly sell off the alts in the fear of missing out the bitcoin profit train.

3. BTC goes down => ALTS crash and get into heavy drawdowns. The liquidity of alt coins is always poor so any bad news of the market as a whole hit them first and hit them hard. They recover much faster though as well. Like we just saw RIPPLE collapsed 70% then gain 63% back next day!

Yes I agree with what you said and for the present time maybe the third condition is prevailing. The market of both bitcoin and altcoin is not so good. Hope this bearish condition will over soon.

This time they can't be applied to the market of crypto. The manipulators were changing anything.
This is the case that has already happened.
When bitcoin gets a little decrease and then altcoin gets a lot of decrease on its value. the market's direction is can't be analyzed. This time without any bad news and the market still in the bearish way.

Thank you for the informative post. Indeed, the crypto currency market depends on the price of BTC. And most of time it happens. Moreover both market condition is not good nowadays but I hope sioon this will recover.

Um, hasn't Bitcoin been growing sideways for a really long time now? I know people are thinking crash, but honestly, with such low volumes, it's more like a very long term decline, but weeks of sideways trading in narrow range. And alts, meanwhile, have been doing the same, but declining with even more consequences when compared to Bitcoin. Look at it every way you can and there actually is no situation where alts grow EXCEPT when Bitcoin does.

Nice post for the investors. We all know bitcoin is the market leader and their performance also too good. For this reason many crypto coins are following their strategy.

Actually theoretically there is no relationship between bitcoin and altcoins price movements. Bitcoin is the first crypto currency and the market leader in the market of crypto currency. But it has been noted from the past that altcoins price moves with the movement in the price of the bitcoin and so many people believe that there is a correlation between bitcoin and altcoin price movement.

which I know the price movement of bitcoin also affects altcoin price because altcoin always follow the bitcoin movement hence the crypto market also depends on bitcoin because until now the bitcoin price has not gone up and the market has not been stable yet also waiting for bear market ended

In the world of cryptocurrency market, what can happen to Bitcoin will always affect the movement in many if not all altcoins. They are all interconnected that is why I don't see any point of other groups pushing for the destruction of Bitcoin so they can be on the throne. We have to let time decide if and when Bitcoin can be replaced and forcing it now will just boomerang to all parties. I am hoping too that soon there will be recovery in the market as I am always seeing reds for the past many weeks. We don't want to welcome the 1st decade birthday of Bitcoin and the blockchain in 2019 while swimming in the red sea s that can be a gloomy situation.

After reading your post, I understand a lot. I personally feel that Bitcoin is the basis of other altcoins, because what I see in the cryptocurrency market is that when Bitcoin drops slightly, then the value of the altcoin will be greatly increased. Falling, and I am very skeptical that there are manipulators behind the scenes.

If that is what you learned so far, then you have not gotten the gist. Sometimes it might be irrelevant, but 90% of the time, the only time altcoins tend to do well is when bitcoin is in a slow upward movement or consolidation. In the case of Bitcoin in a bull run or bears in action, you really want to be careful being in alts.

There are always going to be manipulators behind the scenes which are usually classified as whales, but even at that, you only have to be very smart and cautious when trading the market. There are market controllers everywhere and not just in cryptocurrency.
