Title: AI Bot on the forum?
Post by: actuallytwolamas on June 23, 2018, 08:14:05 PM
Serious question.

I keep seeing this guy https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=513984 posting a lot, and honestly, I don't understand the meaning of any of his posts. And got a silly idea maybe somebody running some kind of Deep Learning AI bot which is now in learning phase? :D

Here is his posting history: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=513984;sa=showPosts

No offense if it's a real guy.

Going at the post history (after giving a quick scan), I can not spot anything unusual. It looks very normal to me. What am I missing? Can you specify one or two posts?

What I mean, is he have a very unusual writing style I guess. Lots of uppercase sentences, mixed sentences with uppercase and lowercase letters, lots of copy-paste URLs from youtube, and other websites, with dates, and videos times.

Maybe he’s just thick as shit or really annoying. Stick him on ignore but kudos for trying to help to clean up the forum, there are some absolute dog shit posters here :)

LMFAO Old Popcorn, what an interesting hypothesis, I highly doubt that is the case but can't say for sure.

I've read a lot of his posts (unfortunately).  He just seems like a fucking nut job to me.  Seems relatively harmless in terms of the forum.  Yes I've seen some redundant topics posted by him back to back and he has a lot of threads that make little to no sense.  The vast majority of his threads there isn't anyone talking but him (even the shitposters avoid his threads LOL).  His views tend to be quite extreme but I do think there is an actual human sitting behind a keyboard and not an AI.

I've left him to talk to himself for the most part in his threads, I dump the really blatant shit but who knows maybe he's saying something someone somewhere in the world might care about so as long as it looks like HE is at least thinking about it I tend to let him be and to let him have his say.

In the grand scheme of things this nutter isn't much of a forum issue IMO!

He is an actual person in my opinion. I've run AI before in an It company and i think the personality of the AI is too far from this account. Basically what I can see is that he is posting based on emotions. I can find some traces of emotions in most of his posts

Actually there's no bot account on the forum. It's still the topic starter or the people who wants to bump a topic/reply. Especially on bounty campaigns there's a lot of spammer or bumper on campaigns that ended to long ago. Artificial Intelligence may rather helpful for us but in this situation this not helpful and not contributing good to the forum. I will be happy if their will a KYC requirements on making accounts and also to avoid alts that abuses things here on forum.
It still a human who uses that accounts

Maybe he is getting bored playing with alt-account and back using his main account,

*kidding,

But seriously, somehow I always think that nullius is alt-account of some High Ranked, 'ancient' member of this Forum. Only to show that Merit system actually works.

A high ranked old member that supports the forum? Most of them left because of the spam issues. I do not think that he is an alternate account but he obviously has read the forum for a long time.

If that is an AI bot then Artificial Intelligence is probably doomed.

Looks like someone who types like they talk. Without punctuation.

So probably bot gathering info from Bitcoin Discussion, Altcoin Discussion, Bounties and Announcements section, where most spammers live.

Actually why I got the idea to create a thread like this, because in another forum I saw a thread, where AI bot ran on the forum, gathered data from all posts, and wrote pretty much similar stuff.

Have you really checked his "posts"?
All are about politics, focused on Trump, the Eu and Brexit, try to find that crap in Bounties  ;D

He's just a bit .....not fully synchronized with the chain  ;D, like a lot of the guys in that section. Have you checked  this bot (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=244104;sa=showPosts)?

Not everyone pays attention to their writing style or grammar. In fact you'd be surprised how thick/careless or indeed lazy people can be, so having said that I'm not surprised at all!

This is exactly what I think to. This must be a human not an AI.

I've read more of his posts than anyone should have too in the last few months LOL.  If it's an AI learning it is doing a shitty job of learning...!   He just seems like another butthurt conspiracy nut with a screw or six lose!

AI cant do posts like that. The randomization of characters together with the emoticons are too far from the capability of the AI from now. Yes AI can analyze texts and characters, but not the whole sense of it. We all do have our different typing techniques, yet you found his posts different from what you expect.

Hence, AI is too far to be a problem of the forum, and users who's just actively posting his emotions in forum especially in the politics thread aren't enough to gain moderators' attention.

Yes, it can, you would be amazed by what AI can do nowadays. You can create an absolutely unique personality with deep neural networks, it can get a sense of the word, the meaning of the sentence, see the emotion in that sentence. It does that by building complex data structures out of words and sentences. For example, if I want my bot to learn what emotions are, I just show examples/objects of what are emotions and what emotions are not, and as I continue to point more examples/objects, AI becomes more aware of the features what emotions possess.

I never said that he is a problem to the forum, I just got an idea maybe there is small chance about my theory.

That is ~3.5 posts every single day since his registration. That's some dedication here  ;D
