Title: CAN YOU USE SERVER POWER SUPPLY FOR MINING (HP,DELL,DELTA)
Post by: cryptosager on June 24, 2018, 10:46:58 AM
Can anyone kindly verify the compatibility of the following items:

1-Breakout board adapter:

https://www.amazon.com/SYTIVE-Breakout-Adapter-Server-Ethereum/dp/B078WPB3GZ/ref=pd_sbs_147_1?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B078WPB3GZ&pd_rd_r=N2MW2250E8YS46KW7K5H&pd_rd_w=TgGRe&pd_rd_wg=eroHk&psc=1&refRID=N2MW2250E8YS46KW7K5H

AND

2-HP 684532-B21 1500W psu:

Can I use for mining since it has a high output of 1500W and it is rated pentium 94% efficiency.

I really appreciate your assistance and respect your expertise in this matter.

Thanks... ???  :o ???

Yes you can , you just have to buy an adapter for those Power Supplies because they are called Parallel Power Supplies and you cannot use them directly for mining.

An adapter for parallel power supplies doesn't cost much if you look through ebay and amazon.

Here is a link for what you need

In fact, the first product title (Amazon) been answering your question.

1-Breakout board adapter:

https://www.amazon.com/SYTIVE-Breakout-Adapter-Server-Ethereum/dp/B078WPB3GZ/ref=pd_sbs_147_1?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B078WPB3GZ&pd_rd_r=N2MW2250E8YS46KW7K5H&pd_rd_w=TgGRe&pd_rd_wg=eroHk&psc=1&refRID=N2MW2250E8YS46KW7K5H

"SYTIVE PSU Breakout Board Adapter for HP Dell 750W/1200W/1500W Server Power Supply Ethereum ETH ZEC 12V GPU Mining."

Mean, you can use server's PSUs to powering your rigs. And that's better than while you are using consumer's PSUs. Server's PSUs designed for running continuously (the durability must be better).

The server psu´s are very good for mining, but you need the right PCI-E-riser´s and a pico-psu to connect your mainboard.
You also can use ASIC miner psu´s.

I really appreciate all replies but my main concern is the compatibility of this specific server psu (-HP 684532-B21 1500W). the reason being that I previously bought a new one but different part number 1400W but when I received it home it did not fit the breakout I mentioned above the pci-e interface was too small although I have seen some other models with the breakout fitted. I tied to contact their support but they would not know anything other than telling me that this psu is to be used with the proliant server, REALLY! that was a big help. Anyways, someone told me that I have to match the part number with the breakout board for compatibility before buying again. In fact I need 6 each of the HP 684532-B21 1500W so I can not afford to make the same mistake again. sorry for the long elaboration but I am totally new at this and hope to make things clearer to be assisted correctly. If anyone have or knows where to look up the compatibility and match up these server psu numbers with the breakout board.

The one I bought and had to return is this model:

 DPS-1400CB A HP Flex Slot Platinum Power Supply [ 2 Pack ]

by the way other models like the DPS-1200XX is compatible cause I have seen the board fitted with it at amazon or ebay. but it is a bit tricky.

There are no breakout boards for the “flex slot” server psus, only the “common slot” which come in 460,750,1200 & 1500w variants (as far as I have researched). I have used the breakout board as mentioned in the original post and also the better “sidehack” breakout board. I currently use a 1500w hp platinum psu on my 6x1070ti rig pulling 950ws from the wall, and a 750w hp platinum psu on my startup 2x1080ti rig pulling 360w from the wall.
