Title: Crashing Bitcoin
Post by: longshort3301 on February 07, 2014, 07:51:17 AM
what are your thoughts on crashing bitcoin prices, what could cause such drop and what do you think is the bottom for this crash? I personally think it just big players' stop-losses were triggered and the bottom is around 700 (mtgox)

... plus the poll results that the general public is not interested in Bitcoin or any other payment alternative to the dollar.

It's a fucking stampede for the theater exit, but I think these people will find that the theater exit is barricaded closed.  If gox really is insolvent and no BTC/fiat withdraws will occur again, what would you rather hold .. money or Bitcoins?  The gox price is ping ponging at the moment .. perhaps people can't decide this question.

If we see 300s bitcoin is just about done. Unfortunate but true, would take a long long time to recover from that psychologically speaking.

I think apple bitcoin apps ban had something to do with it, yeah, and screw them for that unfounded decision, but it had more to do with Mt Gox's recent near admission to scamming. Now it has got to the point that they know that we know, and they are not really pretending anymore.

Or maybe word has got out that if they get involved with bitcoining they will be forced to listen to MatTheCat's "shorting" every 5 minutes and hae given up. :-X

Sorry perhaps not the best choice of words, more like set back a lot. Take most of 2014 to recover.

Yeah, pretty stupid statement. $300 would be a dream come true for those late.
Those that think bitcoin is "done" during a dip have no understanding of what we are dealing with.

In a word - gox.

Its a case of people trying to see if they can get their BTC out, finding out they cant, so selling and trying a cash withdrawal. I have a feeling this is all not going to end well albeit mt gox burning to the ground.

goxxed yet again

If gox comes out and says sorry everyone's BTC is lost or something even close to that I don't think 300$ is unrealistic. It will probably go lower then that since it would most likely be the worst news in crypto history at this point.

People that think shitty Apple is causing this crash are misled IMO

Are you saying that 79% won't consider using bitcoin poll?

I set a limit order to buy .20 at 749. Was thinking that was good when I woke up and saw it executed. Apparently 660 would have been a better buy.

Just set a 10 Bitcoin buy at $100.
A 2 Bitcoin buy at $200
A 1 Bitcoin Buy at $300
A .5 Bitcoin buy at $400
And a .2 Bitcoin buy at $500

Why those numbers? I guess that's just what I feel comfortable with. Anyone who thinks this February 7th crash is "the end of a Bitcoin" is insane. It may be the beginning of the end of Mt Gox, but that's it.

Did people in 1987 think "this is the end of stocks?" Maybe some did, but those people were insane.
