Title: Accepted Shares @ Zero ?
Post by: NeonFlash on September 23, 2011, 12:25:16 AM
I am using GUI Miner by Kiv which uses poclbm as the kernel.

it works well for me but when I restart the tool, my shares show up as 0. Why so?

I believe, it's because whatever work my Miner was doing before, those shares have gone stale and so the pool will provide a new set of fresh shares from the Bitcoin Network to work on?

Please let me know if my understanding of this concept is correct or not.

That is the number of submitted shares since you launched the software. GUI Miner does not record history. You can probably see more detailed statistics at your pool's webpage.

The pool does not send you shares. A share is a proof work. It proves that you have been trying to find a block. For each share that you send to the pool you get a reward.

Thanks. So, the number of shares I have submitted to Bitcoin Network will be maintained by the Pool and not by GUI Miner since GUI Miner tracks only for the current session?

On my Pool's Portal I can see the following:

Worker     Pass   Shares (stale)   Mode
user          hidden 84 (0.00%)   PPS

So, the 84 shares that are shown here are not stale but the ones that I have submitted to the Pool?
