Title: Prevent spamming and pump topic from new account ?
Post by: harryvnn on June 26, 2018, 08:19:46 AM
There are problems of spamming, shit-posting and pump ANN thread from new account for advertising/pin topic around forum. And I suggest a requirement in number of characters for reply/post accord to rank member. It can prevent people from spamming in airdrop topic, pump ANN thread, shit-posting without information.
Example:

+ Newbie: Minimum 100 characters
+ Jr.Member: Minimum 50 characters
+ Member: Minimum 20 characters
+ Sr.Member and higher: No minimum

So all newbie and Jr.Member have to write more for their post. It can make reply/post make sense and more information.

It will not help, as those pumps are done mostly by bots.
The rest of the shitposters will still shitpost because that's what they do. Just a few more strokes on the keyboard will not stop them, trust me ;)

Agree, If you want to prevent newbie and Jr. Member from spamming and shit-posting, just make restricted on  Alternate cryptocurrencies section because all spam and pump is from Alternate cryptocurrencies section. Ex:
- Newbie: Only view/ Can't comment, reply/ Can't create new topic.
- Jr. Member without Merit: View & Can comment or reply 1 time/day
- Jr Member with Merit: View & Comment 5 times/day
- Higher rank: No restrict

It will encourage New and Jr. Member to contribute quality post for getting Merit.

Yet a lot of these spammers are creating posts EVERY DAY saying why no Merit etc? Look at their post history and it is just absolutely riddled with spam. Their accounts were made primarily to spam.

For me, these are the 'people' who are not needed here. If tough action was taken against spam i think it would send a strong message.

I saw a lot of airdrop/bounty that ask participants to comment on ANN thread for pumping topic. So its not only bots, it also real account. Most participants who join airdrop, are newbie and Jr.Member, so we can prevent them from spamming.

Nice idea, i think it will work. It will prevent them from spamming.

You should report such ANN threads as they break the rules.

So all newbie and Jr.Member have to write more for their post.
Do you think that will solve the problem or make it worse. Because if we put a limit, those shitposters surely googling and try to copy paste whole sections and that will ultimately filled the threads with redundant posts which having more characters.

Trust me, higher number of characters doesn't mean posts/reply are always making sense. Some times five, six words can express what spammers couldn't do with hundred of words.

These aren't horrible suggestions, but I'm not sure why you felt the need to open a separate thread repeating them.  Seems like you have an inflated sense of their importance.  If you've read anything in Meta, you'd know that they're not groundbreaking and also not likely to get implemented.  Do more reading and less posting, and you'll find that Theymos hasn't taken many suggestions, nor have bounty managers for that matter.

It's a great idea to incorporate the merit system into selection criteria for bounty managers.  Yahoo62278 and one other manager (can't remember the name for the life of me) have done it, and DarkStar_ has kind of unofficially done it.  As of right now, it's basically up to each manager whether they want to.  Theymos isn't likely to require it of anyone.

If you read this post (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4538227.msg40849533#msg40849533) by theymos, it will shed some light on why your suggestions have not been, and likely will not be, implemented.

izanagi narukami (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=334527) has certainly done it for the Bitcloak Campaign (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2349397.msg23937338#msg23937338) - not sure if he's the person you were thinking of?
