Title: Beware of SCAM Airdrops
Post by: originalcoin on June 26, 2018, 01:10:59 PM
Today i received an email

"The Anatomia Token distribution is now live for all verified users.
So far, we have officially distributed tokens to over 10,000 verified users.

If you haven't received your 10,000 ATOM tokens, complete your KYC verification process now to claim your tokens.

Complete KYC

Please note that the KYC verification process will be discontinued in 5 days.
Exchange listings are currently being scheduled by our team to make sure ATOM gets listed in mid-July.

Best regards,
Anatomia Team."

If you click the link , a form will open. There you will find a link to sign message with myetherwallet. This link is not real myetherwallet. ie  it is myetherwàllėt    CAREFULLY see the dots in characters.

It is a SCAM. Be careful before you enter your private key in any website.

Yea I feel victim to their malicious myetherwallet phishing website luckily for me I had no tokens on the wallet address I distributed to them.

Thank you so much for your work on the forum mate. I see really people want to get the free tokens instead of payment and work with bounties. Henceforth finally you will be able to get scammed because of the scam mate.

Please check the information about the project on the white paper and invest on the good ICO project. Then if possible please avoid the airdrops earning completely out.

Never give your private key or something information about your identity.
Just give your KYC, if you are %100 percent is safe platforms, like some big exchanges.

That was clear trick to me because the aim of these kind of emails is mainly to collect users information later on they gonna sell this information at high price so lets be caution and delete shit tokens act like doing verified airdrop i think better to look for coins promote airdrop build their own blockchain .

Nice catch and thank you for sharing it though I'm not a fan of airdrops but you are helping most of those that are into airdrops especially the newbies.

Serve this also as a lesson that just because the email looks legit, you'll take a bite on their website.

Don't ever log in a MEW-like website, only access your wallet through bookmarked MEW and don't be too greedy with few bucks that you can get with their tokens.

I see the airdrop campaign now is not realiable. Some campaign just try steal your information (facebook, twitter, mail, ETH adress,...) and sell for themselves. Be carefully.

It is not possible to tell an airdrop as a scam. But always make sure not to give your private key to any one and always check the url of myetherwallet before entering private key to access your account.

How is it not possible when OP himself has done it? On top of that, he didn't even need to join and be robbed in order to arrive on that conclusion so I don't get where did "It is not possible to tell an airdrop as a scam" came from?

Imo one should need an understanding of the basics of cryptocurrency as well as a tad bit of common sense in order to have a good judgement. If you're done with that, this thread should be useful https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4435067.0 (and google ofc)

It is truth that happens so avoid such scams or airdrops. Just do not fall in trap as their target is generally the newbies or people who are new and will fall in trap easily. So better in starting go through the forum and read lost of threads so that you have an idea of how to spot a scam.

U have received similar emails thrice just this month of June alone. The last one was from Tron or Tronix airdrop can't fully remember the name but they were asking me to verify my Ethereum address through a provided link, which actually took me to a cloned MEW website. I just smiled and closed the webpage. I guess this is the new way of phishing private keys.

This is why i dont trust links that is given to me by an unknown party cause it might be use to steal your coins even my wallet is always empty i still want to protect such as guys like this. This is why facebook and google ban the advertisement of any altcoin/ICO/airdrop referral related links yo avoid people from getting scammed.

If this is true then those who have read it owe you one, for giving us a fair warning. But then again, everyone should be really careful about anything that they received and used your common sense and due diligence because we all know that there are a lot of scammers in this market. They just really need that one mistake that you are going to made and then boom, they take everything from us. As for Airdrops though, to be fair there are few who's really legit but that's last year. This 2018, airdrops became a tool, I myself seeing tokens in my MEW, and I was confused at to where it came from. Just reported them as unknown or not trusted. So just be careful out there.

I do participate in airdrops and what i do is have two metamask wallets , one for use for airdrops and the other to transfer those airdrops to and hold.
This way the airdrop wallet is empty most of the time.

If you accidentally disclose your private key, you lose your wallet and you lose your cryptocurrency!

I see that now have a lot of SCAM Airdrops, they are trying to collection information of people who are joining in crypto market even some Scam Airdrops try to steal private key of MEW wallet. So we should careful when joining to a airdrops, we should keep away airdrops which ask us KYC or provide private key.

Yeah, don't just get fooled by the rewards you'll get from that airdrop. Always think that airdrops nowadays are pure of scam, so better to be safe. Don't sacrifice your personal details for a small amount, stay safe and better to work on bounty campaign which is more profitable.

Thanks to this thread so we all aware of the scam airdrops.Specially to new in this kind of work so thank you for the thread starter.

Ok our concern is to aware every one not only for newbie but for all of us.We must take a resposibility to take care of our wallet and our earning because doing bounty is not that simple we all take time and effort to make our every week task. so this is it we must read this for our safety.

1. We must look for the address 3 times to make sure it is real and if the website is secured you must look for the luck icon on address bar.
2. Dont put your wallet password or your account password if the website ask for this unless you are sure that the site is real.
3. Search the info of the site or airdrops before you participate on the airdrops.
4. Dont give your password on any kind of spreadsheet and if someone on telegram asking for this or in other website.
5.Read  carefully the terms of the airdrop or bounty. thats all we must make our selve secured from those scammers.

First of all avoid airdrops in these days most of the airdrops giving us worthless token or never pay us so we are wasting our time with them.So find some good bounty and participate there you will get some decent earnings for your hardwork.

And to avoid these kind of prolems we better keep separate MEW account for airdrops rewards so incase if we get robbed our valuable tokens will safe in our primary account.

Airdrops are not just airdrops now a days as they do ask to join telegram/twitter and the registering to their site or submitting an email or white-listing email or anything similar to that must be done in order to qualify for airdrops. In my opinion an airdrop should be performed just by submitting their addy  or ERC-20 enabled ETH addy in the case of token's airdrop.

When people start ignoring multi-procedure involved airdrops, then devs will come down with those complications. When airdrops are just a simple step procedure then we never need to worry on their scam or not. Because we may lose just our 2 minutes in most of the case and nothing more.

I’m aware of this since the day I started joining airdrops as many person are using my public email address in a potential investors list.

First sign that this email isn’t good for you and may contend harmful links then look at the sender.

Second your instincts usually do the trick, you can feel danger and don’t ignore it.

Last you must do is open it, report as spam or delete it. That’s what I been doing for a year now.

This one will gonna be helpful to everyone here.
Interested in Cryptocurrency? Beware of these scams. (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3329803.0)

There's a lot of fake  websites being made by the scammers. Even blockchain.com have a same fake site which is blöckchäin.com as what I have seen while browsing the net.

2. Watch out for fake websites.

Look for the "secure"  and "https" markers before a website's URL  in your browser.  If they are not there, the website  might be fraudulent. Also,  check for tiny dots under the letters in the url that could be mean the site is fake.
http://i65.tinypic.com/15g5a1e.jpg

This one could help to avoid being scammed by impersonators or ICO/TOKEN SCAMS

Initial Coin Offering SCAMS
HOW TO AVOID?

Let's define first what is Initial Coin Offering or ICO?

ICO is an unregulated means by which funds are raised for a new cryptocurrency venture.
My idea on ICO is CROWD FUNDING .

Now let's move on how can we avoid ICO SCAM

Crowdfunding is shaping the future of finance. No longer does investment belong to the few and no longer does launching a project mean having to go through all the required conditions of Venture Capital investment. There are now multiple platforms where users can crowdfund their dreams and projects into reality.

Observe this things to avoid it.
  • Unrealistic goals
  • Buzzword salad
  • Whitepaper
  • No Code Repository
  • Team

Unrealistic goals

If the project does have that potential, professional developers will never make such promises. They will let you know about the potential of their project and that’s it. No serious team will ever make a price prediction about their token or claim it can fix the world.

Buzzword salad

“Our decentralized blockchain-based platform will disrupt the landscape of cryptocurrency investment while building a trustless network of pseudonymous users that leverage swarm intelligence technology to provide real world financial services in a tokenized ecosystem.”

Some people may have a tendency to use buzzwords as a means to turn a boring text or announcement into something exciting. However, these will have a certain amount of information on it, even if you have to filter out some of the nonsense. Still, if a project needs to do this, then the project is likely to be as boring as watching paint dry.

Whitepaper

Whitepapers usually explain how the platform works both on the high-level and specifically. This often includes charts, calculations, simulations, specifications and so forth. If your project claims that it is building some sort of decentralized service or token with new features and actually provides no explanation of how it works specifically, then just close the document and walk away.

No Code Repository

This is what matters. Like someone said before “Code is law”. Even if the project announcement and whitepaper are complete trash, you can always count on Github or Sourceforge to put an end to all doubts. If the project provides no link to the code at all or if the project is nothing more than a clone with a few changed lines of code, then it’s not worth your time nor money.

Team

This is very important. Who is behind the project? Is the team made up of well-known members of the cryptocurrency community? Are they known in other areas? Have they been involved in previous projects? If the answer is yes, then this may be an interesting opportunity. Just remember to check if the person is actually aware of the project as scammers may use famous names just to get people interested even though these are not part of the team.

It is a SCAM. Be careful before you enter your private key in any website.
Good thing that you do already have a good eye when it comes to frauds.
Anything that do ask out a privatekeys or any other signed message or ways that you can input your keys then its 101% fraud or scam. These kind of ways or methods arent new anyways and if you do already have experienced and better knowledge with these schemes then its hard for you to be hacked or lose funds.

Actually, I hate the airdrops because  many people  are easily fooled through their  high fake  value,  and due to the majority of people are very greedy, so they lose a alawys their money  because of  those  scammers and cheaters. We must be careful guys before choosing the right ICO for Airdrops.
Unfortunately, the scammers are everywhere in many fields, and their number in increase over time. So when you do not have any knowledge in the field if ICO then there is a great possibility that you will be fooled by the scam ICO's . Furthermore,  I saw that many people want to earn a large porportion of money in an easy way and the best example of that is the Airdrop , that is the issue.
Believe me , you cannot  be rich without a big effort in any field.

Yep that surely a scam because of dotting letters in URL, too bad that many scammy airdrops nowadays so careful what you filling up because some of them want to know your information mostly the email and the private key of your myetherwallet.
Exactly, nowadays there are a lot of scam airdrops, so we should be careful when we participate in them. As you said there is little airdrops which required some personal details like name and email and sometimes the private keys which it's too scammy. People should be smart and don't participate in any random bounty airdrops, at least you should read peoples' reviews to understand that is legit or not.

Airdrop Anatomia that's a scam. It does not have a web or any other information. The email will ask you to log into a fake MEW page. You only need to log on and your entire property will disappear. Very good when you have warned.

As i see here many say they hate airdrops or airdrops are worthless, but it is not true.

I participated in few hundred airdrops and atleast i got 10 airdrops to be beneficial in terms of monetary value. Some i have encashed some and some i kept.

Only thing is when the prices are up 2 or 3 times,  i did not sold the big ones in hope of getting big profits (once the amount reached $6500 in total), but the state is fully reversed now.

Though i am waiting for the next big rise and want to sell immediately.

JUST waiting for the time.

So airdrops are really great for newbies with no money to invest in trading.

But at any second beware of scam airdrops and don't ever enter private key in any form or any fake websites and save your little or big assets.

It's a very smart choice for you, and I advise people to use MetaMash to protect their MEW wallets because scams always target the cryptocurrency market. I have learned that hackers have taken over the assets of crypto investors. Caution is needed in this market.

For us we would able to detect it out directly but there are still some people do get victim on these kind of phish emails but we would eventually learn from our mistakes.
Just always put up on our minds that when it comes to private keys we should only be the one who will know about it.

i dont care if it is a scam as long as the work is minimal.
I only join airdrop with out any requirement of downloading their wallet or passing some KYC.
just be safe as always...

NEVER USE YOUR MAIN WALLET.
make sure to have your airdrop wallet alone on this.

This informarion aware us that even airdrop can be scam. Thank you for posting and warn us about this because eneterung private key is risky because they have chance that your wallet open by the hacker. First of all I did not join any airdrop I don't know why because even you get few token that's not have value and maybr your wasting your time.

Lol most of the airdrops are actually scam. Yet good thing about airdrops is that most of it are free and yes you can really get good amount of tokens from this. What you should be more careful about is the self drop which is more risky since you are going to send amounts in exchange to that certain airdrop coin which can be a scam

There are lots of scams going on these days and only those who are smart will be able to figure when they are about to fall for those traps. It does not only happen in airdrops, it happens almost everywhere.

There are even fake wallets out there and once your money gets into it, forget about it cause there is no way you’re going to get it out. I can remember when such thing happened last year, a fake wallet was used to confuse people and everyone turned to accuse the main organization. It was very difficult to convince on what really happened. When you’re clicking links always check what’s up in the search bar.

If you are active in bounty hunting and your email will be displayed on the spreadsheet, they will use that email of yours and send you that scam email notification about a fake airdrop which will direct you to a fake MEW to enter your private key. Be careful on providing your personal email in bounties guys.

That`s right which is some of crypto users right now want to get free tokens but they don`t think that some it are actually scam, earning airdrops is not actually bad it`s just an extra income which is you can actually earn for free, not like participating in bounties which is much bigger but even it will take so long but you don`t have to worry about it because all the participants in that bounty will get paid after the end of their ICO, but still you should also consider reading their whitepaper because as what i have read some news that there are scam also in ICO projects.

We should really careful on signing-in on any crypto sites because scammers are always there to collect your information. Be observant, always triple check the site, and don't just click all the links on your email. Its better to prevent this because there is no way to get back your wallet if its already stolen by the scammer.

I've read topics and comments regarding scam airdrops that's why I am not fund of collecting them, although not all airdrops are the same there are still a few that has market value but I'd rather not collect them just to be safe and avoid scam. We people have to be vigilant, research first before signing up in any sites or else you might lose your valuable tokens instead of gaining one.

That is fake airdrop only and the intention was to steal private keys through his phishing site (clone of myetherwallet). Dont ever try to put your private key on that phishing site always check the url address carefully before accessing myetherwallet site.

Airdrops are free to get tokens!
Remember to be free, don't make any transfer, don't reveal your private key and password, if you need to authenticate your airdrop, you need to be careful!
Remember these will not be deceived!

It is meant to get the tokens without any investment but more risky think here plays is you need to share the KYC details via form or elsewhere it is not at all good to give the informaton to unknown airdrops to get the tokens. Some may pay but you will get scammed widely in airdrops here.

Please keep your data confidential and be anonymous to make money on airdrops or tokens mate.

Don't also pay for a transfer fee if they are requiring, many airdrop lovers has been victimized by this scheme.

Thanks for your advice, this will be very helpful to the members in this forum. Currently there are many ICO and Airdrop projects just to scam.Do not participate in airdrops that are prone to viruses or phishing. You should never provide private key or passwork to others.

Strangely I received such a message in my email this week. Lately, having a very large wave of false airdrops messages, they promise $ 50 $ 100 for simple actions, which is totally out of the question.

Thanks a lot for the information. But does it really mean we should ignore Airdrops or is there any other way we can identify the one that's genuine?

I dont even know on where the hell they do get that idea on asking KYC for just claiming airdrops. I dont even see a reason why would a bounty hunter would do such thing? Giving out or exposing their identity for the sake of small tokens being given? It should really be free and as a claimer you wont risk nothing and we know our own personal informations would always be a gem, sharing out would just like suicide.

That's why I don't provide KYC on Airdrops specially putting my private key on links... Only give your account number from the site or on the forum from official thread of the Airdrops...

Yes, we have to be very careful with this airdrops because there are many scam people collecting your MEW private key. We have to be very careful when dealing with the airdrops, don't share anything other than your social media and telegram username.

A good airdrop will not inquire you to give them a big information about your account it is just the ETHEREUM address or bitcoin address if necessary and also the email of yours to make a contact with always remember if they are going to request to make account in them please make sure that your password is different in all of your accounts.

I'm sure that almost all airdrops are scam, especially which you receive by email. The main scammers task is to get your private key.  I usually ignore these emails and delete it. Be more careful in the future, guys.

We are all already aware of that, if you don’t know that there are scam. Airdrops, then I wonder you have been living all these whole, in the forest? Even outside the crypto world there are scammers here and there. So no matter what you are a doing you have to be very careful and follow every procedure you got to follow to avoid any sort of scam online. So always be very careful, that’s all.

Thank you for the things you shared, these are very rewarding things. Currently many people just want to get tokens without checking on WP, development team, expert rating ... Be careful and are responsible for what you do.In the present situation there are many projects are set up to scam
