i like no premine coins, and also this one is not exactly instamine you have 140k blocks before blocks get cut in half. If there are any decent plans for it it could be the fairest QRK clone yet.

So this coin seems about the same as frozen in terms of fair ness....

Just a suggestion, on line 25 of your metacoin-qt.pro file, you might want to change "BOOST_LIB_SUFFIX=-mgw48-mt-s-1_55" to "BOOST_LIB_SUFFIX=" so that it is more compatible. I was unable to compile on eOS 64-bit (based on 12.04) until I changed that and rebuilt.

Not everyone has 4 x i5 4570. Normally i could mined a few blocks at the start of a new coin with 1 i3 haswell core getting 40khs and 1 gpu getting 260khs = 300 khs. There's a fair chance for small miners. After 30 minutes there was 600 blocks mined and i got none, so basically 40khs doesn't cut it, difficulty went up above 3, so it's pointless. Hence i'm out and won't be involved in this coin. It's a rational decision for me as i can not compete. Good lucks with your blocks.

OMG... a half finished coin on the market, dev leaves after a week.

If you don't know how to build a car, don't build one and put it on the market.

If you don't know the first thing about toilets (except maybe how to flush) don't offer plumbing services.

Trying to start a coin when you don't know what you're doing wastes peoples time and hashes, and makes they crypto market look bad in general.

The dev said he changed his plans, and is sticking around. He is looking for help with various aspects of managing the coin.

A pretty solid launch, no premine, no stupid (stolen) copyrighted cartoon characters, no stealing of celebrity names..... I would say he got a lot of things right.

lol, The thing keeping me mining it is the fact that I can CPU mine it while simultaneously GPU mining something else and it actually gives me full coins  ;D

Already switched to fairquark for cpu mining.  I mined and mined and mined this in the beginning.  Wound up with 3 coins, broken pools, not response.  In less time I've managed to mine 30,000+ fairquarks and there's a market on the way, plus exchanges.

Shame cause I thought this one had more potential.

You should take a look at Quarkbar (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=488455.0), same quark algo only much rarer and uses kimotos gravity well for retargeting and the community is really starting to take off. Also ZERO premine so it's fairer and newer too :)

As best as I can tell using Google Translate, this doesn't seem to be about MetaCoin, specifically.  They seem to be using the term metacoin generally, referring to coins like MasterCoin and Counterparty

For the record, they don't require payment or bribing to vote.  This is just a sign up and vote system.  Don't confuse them with mintpal's antics...

We've already had a coin Get Listed with 100% free votes, that's why we always list one random coin that has 150 votes, 150 votes is not hard to get when you think about it.  Each user can vote once every 12 hours.  If your coin has a community that shouldn't take more than 3 days :)

Hey all.  It seems that meta2pool decided to not work on metacoin
and i have been thinking to revive it.

I will have a lot of free time starting Wednesday next week ( way too much was going on for me to continue it earlier )

My problem at the moment is that i recently re-downloaded the client and the super node up is no longer up.

I think the hashrate of the coin was something like 1mhs since i abandoned it

I noticed that zcoins.org is the only pool still mining this coin but adding them as a node is not syncing the wallet.

If anyone has a connection to the coin please let me know.

Since the quark-algo is kind of lame these days i'm thinking i could work on converting to x11 or something like that

Though I'm not the greatest coder and am unfamiliar with a lot of that kind of stuff with cryptocoding

How to sync the wallet ?

1) Manually add nodes under console
addnode node[number].metacoinproject.org add

2) Or create and add a metacoin.conf file
to to get it syncing, metacoin.conf file must be in appdata/roaming/metacoin dir on Windows or .metacoin on Linux

I think meta2pool still work on metacoin.
