Title: Tell us about the dishonest bounty you encountered and remind others!
Post by: duanavj on June 28, 2018, 04:41:40 AM
Most project parties hope to promote their projects through rewarding activities. There are many requirements and commitments for participation in the rewards, but whether or not the implementation of commitments represents the integrity of the project parties. All of you say that you have encountered projects that do not comply with promises so that more people can see that avoiding long hours of work will ultimately result in no return.

Common situations:
1. The bounty is postponed, and it is extended after the deadline specified in the initial explanation, and it may be extended many times.
2. Delayed not issuing coins. After the bounty is over, it is always said in the statistics, but no token has been issued.
3. Suddenly changed conditions and contradicted the initial conditions, resulting in invalidation of previous rewards.
4. The third party team manages the bounty. After the end, the official and third parties push each other and no tokens are issued.

I hope that more people can speak out the problems they have encountered and point out what projects they are. The market does not need more dishonest projects, and more real and honest projects are needed.

If one day all of the bounty activities can be published and recorded using blockchain, then this kind of deception will be easier to find and then only honest projects will be left behind.

I experience some of that dishonesr of each bounty campaign now adays.  Commonly is adding a couple of weeks or even 1 months without adding allocation. Some are not paying, some change the allocation, some stop the bounty and some become scam. Its hard for us to find a legit campaign  with one word and promises. Fixed allocation and not look for result of total raised in usd

Therefore, it is necessary to discover those dishonest projects in time. If their rewards are not honest enough, who can guarantee that their projects can be seriously developed? Each bounty item has its own budget, and it should fix the pay for each task. If it just changes casually, I think the team is not mature enough to do things or they are intentionally forcing the participants to do more work.

Many times these project teams have disappeared, because these ICO projects cannot successfully complete the crowdfunding, so our bounty thread will not be paid, which is a sad story.

If you do some expert research, such as website, whitepaper,  team, roadmap, tranparent etc, Maybe you will get a good promising ICO. There is many ways to do reasearch. With a year you experience in ICO, i think you know about witch is good or scam.

There are a few kinds of bounty.
The scam that goes after ICO don't pay.
The project that don't get the softcap don't pay.
And some of them extend bounty for ridiculous amount of time while not increasing the reward and leaving them would disqualify you.
It should be compulsory for extended bounty to give it's participants leave without their stake being disqualified.

Too many bounty programs are dishonest. I feel that even if they fail, they should honor their promises instead of always trying to escape. This kind of project is a matter of character and it is not worth paying attention and investing.

If you focus on good projects there is a number of ways to really make a good success with a bounty. If you have a high bitcointalk rank the signature might be worthwhile. You can always go for translation bounties if you have an additional language to English. Also I have seen a lot of people very successful with Twitter bounties, if they have a following over there.

Indeed, if you have encountered a bounty that has been in attendance for a long time, but in the end it has not been issued, then it is really sad. In general, the rewards project takes a total of one month to several months, which is a very long time cost.

There is also a failed bounty program, which often disappears automatically and no longer speaks. This is also the reason for the bad market. In the current market situation, many waste projects have failed.

Some bounty will only get all your information in the future, including emails, then send spam to you, or defraud your private key. Please be careful not to tell anyone.

The higher the level, the more you get. But if you encounter a dishonest project and don't give the money at the end, then it is a big loss. A person's energy is limited, he can only participate in very few activities, and there are very few people who need to do translation. The key is how to find good projects and avoid junk, because too many bounty is very good at first, but it is very rotten.

many ICOs just want to raise money quickly without doing hard work and tangible ideas, once ICO collects money, be it hard cap or soft cap achieved, they still do not continue the job and they choose to run away, I remember there are some ico like this.

I often experience it, some do not pay even though ico has ended, some other time bounty spawn adds allocation. based on the experience, now I as a research first such as reading white paper, see the project team that is inside it.

Here is the best sign that crypto hasn't come very far yet and indeed is in need for a killer-app! For bounties what we need is a platform that is able to do that (probably exists already, ETH or similar) and is easy to use (I don't think this exists yet!)! Easy means easier (or not much more difficult) than maintaining an excel sheet but with all your mentioned advantages (and not too expensive either)

It is a shame with all the bounty-scams and very time consuming to find appropriate projects and bounty managers for one that is willing to do bounties. But there is also an opportunity in here to get a real-world blockchain app that can be useful for everyone!

This the truely sadness of the icos bounty projects not comply to the participant efforts of the bounty hunters but need to accept this some problem of the icos scammers, also of the participants are not get the rewards the truly sads here is the investors can not get their money back investment  from the people behind the fake project.

The worst case that happened to me was when it was given but after all bounty tokens were distributed, it was also the moment the whole team was gone. Site is gone, every single social media was gone. They have deleted their traces and maybe got their millions of money spent to a nice islands somewhere.

I have not been scammed by any project until now primarily doe to the fact that I do a lot of research based on factors like campaign manager, whitepaper, development team, social media interactions by the development team etc before choosing any particular project. Luck has also helped me here. I urge everyone to do their research before joining any campaign since this helps in a big way based on my experience.

yes it is true that the situation often happens and I have experienced it. annoying indeed, when reading the ICO offered along with the prospect in it looks very nice and has a bright future. but it turns out to be just a scam project and no gift sharing. there must be one bureaucracy to handle this, because if it continues like this, ICO will become unpopular again or even cryptocurrency will be lost.

I already experienced many dishonest bounty those projects which did not pay their bounty according to what was stated in the publish details of the thread where the program was posted. I heard that some bounty managers slashed what should have been for the participants and appropriated the same for themselves...and there are so many ways this can be done. Now, there are also project owners that just DO NOT pay anything to the bounty participants for reasons they can only explain. But what can be worst than projects that just went away like smoke leaving the token buyers and bounty hunters behind holding nothing but a shocked face of disbelief. This is what we are getting in a very deregulated market where scam perpetrators remains unpunished and unaccountable for their acts of shame. Everything here is still hit-and-miss and for now there is not much we can do about it except avoiding as much as possible projects which we feel can be problematic (though this can be challenging, indeed).

"If one day all of the bounty activities can be published and recorded using blockchain, then this kind of deception will be easier to find and then only honest projects will be left behind."

When that day comes there will no longer be a need for bounty hunters to promote the good projects and you will no longer get any rewards. Today is the "Wild West" early days of cryptocurrency and it is unlikely to last. I have no doubt that in the near future we will see things change and all those currently making money, bounty hunters, bounty managers and ICO ratings agencies will be out of a job.

The Peculium bounty has ended for a long time, but the official has always said that in the statistics, it has been a month and there is no result. Their ico time is also more than half a year. In short, many people give them promotion and complain. This is a dishonest project.

I remember a lot of bounty that turned out to be scammers. The lack of protection of participants and investors of bounty is a big problem. Some teams leave the country with a bag of money collected on ICO, throwing investors and bounty participants.

It is a good thing. It is indeed very truthfully analysis needs to be done but sometimes many people ignore this and immediately join the course with some reasons such as manager that is running and there is a large rank participated so feel safe. but in reality, many are behind it and turned out to be a scam.

I think 20% of the bounties that I have join either did not paid the hunters or the coins was not listed  in an exchange for almost a year after the coins was issued or either the project have not push through. Still this situation does not stop me from joining other bounties. But the lesson learned here is study or research first before joining any bounties so that time and effort would not ne wasted.

I love bounty that run by third party, like Amazix or others. Because they have clearly rules and regulations for bounty hunters, they're also the bridge between us (bounty hunters) and the ICO company.
As one of the dishonest bounty is RedBux https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3000658.2600
They reduce the bounty hunter rewards more than 400 times and bounty hunters have no way to against it.

There is a particular bounty campaign that put a requirement that all bounty hunters should invest at least 0.1ETH before they can be rewarded.
This requirement came right in the middle of the campaign after we've worked for weeks, I stopped work immediately and move on to another campaign.

That is why we need to choose carefully about the ICO projects that if possible we choose the ICO that handled by most famous and respected bounty managers because for me these bounty managers will review will the projects before accepting it because their reputation is at stake. There are only few new bounty managers are with true sympathy of the hunters so better choose carefully or your effort will be wasted.

Bounty managers are big factor when choosing a bounty that you will join because they wouldn't just manage a project without reviewing first if the team is honest with their intention. It would also tarnished their reputation if they promote a scam project. Few months ago, there is a reputable manager that has revealed he know that the team just manipulated the amount reach by the team so now, he is no longer trusted and has negative trust. If the team do not attend seminars and blockchain conferences and not showing their face then for me it is already a red flag.

When you look at it, all bounty campaign has its rules that the bounty manager and the company can change the rules or allocation of funds whenever and however they want. So there's no point to do intensive research as all bounty campaign has a tendency to do this. That being said, my strategy is to join bounty campaigns that are nearly at its end; so there'll be more chances of 'winning'.

So many projects are scamming bounty these days, but it only because bounty hunter let them. You can always sue the project in your home country based on not fulfilling terms under international law. If you can’t afford a lawyer, represent yourself in court. At the least, spend the same amount of time FUD the project that they took from you. However, I don’t consider delayed payment with a GOOD reason something we should complain about. Also bounty hunter should stop rushing to tg with “when bounty” questions as soon as the bounty ends; it makes us look bad. You can always use PM. Also, Bitcoin Talk should create a blacklist for manager and project that don’t pay bounty.

Recent example of dishonest bounty is Equi Capital, they promised to pay 5 million equi tokens to bounty participants that is worth around $2.5 million and 2% of total token supply. The bounty was conducted in 2 phases, span ona time period of over 5 months and thousands of participants, now they have announced that they have closed bounty campaigns and the bounty hunters will be rewarded with $140k only which is rediculous amount for 5 months of working and so many participants.
I suggest everyone should protest with them so that they reverse their decision and pay the full promised amount to bounty hunters.

I have done 3 bounties so far. ALL are thru signature campaign and they are honest with the stakes they distributed. One common redflag for bounties is poor communication with the bounty managers or team, Another is the not updated spreadsheets. So better to not waste your time on these kind of projects and move on to another

The most common that I had encountered were the changing of the bounty allocation and extending the bounty duration for a few months.. Like for example one campaign that I have joined last year. The bounty campaign has an allocation of 25% of the total reward  for signature. However they extended the campaign for a few months and after the bounty has closed they changed the allocation for signature from 25% to 5%. Many bounty hunters complained but did not avail. Anyway the token now is almost a shitcoin.

Since it is decentralized market so it is hard to find the good and bad projects. But now a day there are lots of cases of fake bounties. So investors need to be very careful.

If one day all of the bounty activities can be published and recorded using blockchain, then this kind of deception will be easier to find and then only honest projects will be left behind.
Hopefully there will be a governing body that overlooks different projects to come in so that it can lessen or somehow it will totally apprehend the scam project, I know it takes more time to do this, or even having difficulties to pursue but I'm someone will make the first move.

Very good point, if no one is taking actions against people who enjoy to steal from others or abusing their time they dedicate to projects then what motivation would they have to stop these activities? None, therefore they keep going and I feel things are rather becoming worse then better as more get attracted to that space who have only one thing in mind, profit from other peoples losses, it's really sad to see this.

We can't do anything about that. We are not the ones that are handling the distribution or anything realated about giving out tokens to the participants. No matter how we keep on making an appeal they would still the one to decide. All we can do is wait and be patient. If it will come them we are lucky if not then so be it. Move on and look for another opportunity.

I encountered a most dishonest bounty ever! because they give allocation for $4 million and at the end of the bounty they reduce it to $1 million so bounty hunters expected too much to this bounty and give their best to promote it then they manipulate it for unaccepted reason.
