My daughter inspired me to create these for fun. The code is done and I'm trying to decide on a release date. Any suggestions on a fair release date would be welcomed.

I'll post more details later today but there's NO PREMINE; with the exception of a couple hundred blocks to test it out.

Lycancoin is one of three coins I made. The other two are [ZMB] ZOMBIECOIN and [VMP] VAMPIRECOIN. They can be found at http://www.zombie-coin.org and http://www.vampirecoin.org, respectively.

First off, YES!, Lycancoin is another altcoin based on Litecoin sourcecode. However, I didn’t create Lycancoin as a ‘pump and dump’, get rich scheme and I hope the lack of premine (other than a couple hundred blocks for testing) proves that.

Lycancoin is part of a three coin set which includes Zombiecoin and Vampirecoin. All coins are identical in coding and only vary in the number of coins per block. I created these coins primarily because my five year old daughter loves all things monster (especially zombies, werewolves and vampires) and we thought it would be fun.

Vampirecoin, Zombiecoin & Lycancoin were created with initial block coin generation ratios of 1:17:495, respectively. The initial per-block generation rates are 6 Vampirecoins, 102 Zombiecoins and 2970 Lycancoins. I’m curious to find out if the long term mining dedication for these coins varies from these initial ratios.

Even though these coins were created for fun, I’ve done my best to be as serious about their success as I can. Each coin has a dedicated website and I’ve setup dedicated nodes to support each of them. If the coins pick up in popularity, I will continue to add nodes as needed.

Lycancoin Specifications:
- 2 hour block difficulty retargeting
- 2.5 minute block target
- 6 confirmations for transactions
- 30 confirmations for minted blocks
- 2970 coins per block
- 4,950,000,000 total coins
- Difficulty halving at 800k blocks (@ 3.8 years)
- Default ports are 58861 (RPC) and 58862 (P2P)

Soon means probably 2-5 days. It's ready now but I want to be fair to folks who don't have large mining resources (like me).

All three coins are the same code with different stats but all scrypt. The details are on the websites and I'll post the details here later. Each coin has a separate website and dedicated nodes. I'm hoping the community would show interest and help with long term development.
 
The source code will be posted on github for download.

The wallets are done - I'm going to see what I can do to get some pools listed.

Update - I've updated the installation instructions on the website for folks running a Mac to include how to install the necessary dependencies required to run the client.
 
If this is your first go around with running Bitcoin, Litecoin or any altcoin on a Mac then I'd recommend you try pre-loading the dependencies now.
Please let me know if there's any errors or problems following the tutorial.
