I believe they wouldn't do this. Facebook will create them on blockchain project but it mainly focuses for the social network too. So it's not real

I seriously hope they won't. While Facebook has an incredibly wide reach it's one of the last companies that I'd like to see getting involved in crypto.

I don't think facebook will buy coinbase. The reason is even if they are going to have an exchange, they have handled a strong user base and have devs competent enough to explore and start their own. Why bought a ready made then?

Doesn't seem like a realistic option, doesn't even match their business lines nor their direction with blockchain, I would say. You've to remember especially that they've just only been dealing with their privacy scandal - which they haven't emerged fully from yet. The language of their recent actions seem to imply that they're on a path towards "derisking" their business.

An exchange would be a step in the opposite direction. KYC for onboarding? In a US jurisdiction? Not going to happen.

After all the effort of building a blockchain research team, they're just gonna buy a shitty exchange? meh that's quite dumb, probably just a rumor. We'll see...

Keep in mind though that with acquisitions such as these it's rarely only about buying a platform or product, but also about buying knowledge and experience.

Say what you will about Coinbase, but being one of the first exchanges they likely have some of the most experienced devs in the field.

It is just a rumor and nothing has been confirmed by both parties Facebook and Coinbase. It started because Zuckerberg posted on Facebook that he is interested in decentralized currencies 6-7 months ago and on another side, Mr Armstrong said in a video 3 months ago he would like to reach a billion customer. Since Facebook has 2 billion, people started to suggest that it will buy Coinbase

Any source to this news or it is just another HOAX  ;D

Facebook won't put their hand in something that they never have experience with. May be Elon Musk will buy coinbase but surely not Zuckerburg because MUSK have some experience with finance related startup but zucker is more into media market. He even can't make proper decision and quickly announced the complete ban of cryptocurrency related ad which he recently modified. Every government is having close eye on this young self made billionaire ..

People are just rehashing noise.

Just because Facebook is semi lifting its ad ban the mainstream media jumps in and starts throwing around with empty speculation based on..... nothing.

It's as always the hunger for subjects they are looking to nurse in order to push out as much content as possible. Ad pennies and generating traffic, that's all they care about.
