Title: Eco-friendly mining, environmental abuse and energy recuperation Post by: Comino on June 28, 2018, 09:17:53 AM Cryptocurrencies make daily headlines for environmental abuse and energy footprint, releasing as much as 33.9 kilotons of CO2 per year. This energy usage is one of the biggest challenges the technology industry faces.
Current tasks like cryptocurrency mining, neural networks, and GPU databases eat up huge amounts of energy. Crypto mining alone eats up more energy than Republic of Ireland and uses as much CO2 a year as 1m transatlantic flights. And demands keep growing. So ;D;D ... there’s only one good reason in the cryptocurrency price-drop 8) - the fall of energy consumption. At this point, there are “good” 8) news to be had: bitcoin is down to just over $6,000 and ETH $430. If they continue to fall, we might be able to return to worrying about more conventional sources of climate change, like the space industry, automotive, oil prices and presidency Any ideas on recycling excess energy while mining? ??? ??? For example, here're top 10 eco-friendly initiatives in mining (http://issuu.com/miningglobal/docs/mining_global_-_april_2015/28?e=12042171/12243111). And here's how mining can reduce carbon footprints (https://bitcoinmagazine.com/articles/eco-friendly-bitcoin-mining-can-reduce-carbon-footprints-yes-really/). But on this forum guys say (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4556288.msg41041196#msg41041196), projects like these sound cool in paper, they eventually die down and fade away from the scene after their initial "collecting" period is over. Actually, I was talking about recycling - when the heat is stored, removed and transported to heat other facilities. |
