Title: A volunteer available.
Post by: minthit on June 29, 2018, 11:29:56 AM
Does the forum need any volunteer to do any mundane tasks? I can commit at least 2 hrs a day even everyday. One reason is I would like to get some experience on running a big forum like this one.

I don’t know if there will be any other tasks available but if you want to spend those two hours or part of them reporting people (correctly) that will be helpful for the forum and will help you gain reputation.

As Don Pedro said,

just go here and read: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4519248.0
then go here and search for spammers https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=recent;patrol

Study cryptography. Create new original and high-quality posts. This is the best help for the development of forum and cryptographic literacy of people. I apologize for my English.

+1 on this, i think i can volunteer too.

As much as i want to report all those spammers, it would also be a good opportunity to experience being an assosciate. Not only i would learn more about crypto, but also how a forum works (probably codes and such).

I doubt anyone here of the admin team ( if that even exists, i'm pretty sure it's just theymos at this point) is just going to give you a position. You'll really need to earn it.

Since it seems you're too lazy to report people, but still want to "be" an "associate" you could maybe assist the current dev team that's developing the new version of the forum?

See https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=167.0

With the current state of it, i'm fairly certain you'd be rewarded in some way or another  by theymos if your contribution is significant/completes it.

Well, it depends on theymos wether theymos accept minthit as one of the associates in the forum or the other way just like becoming a merit source or other positions that theymos might consider giving to someone.

It's like starting your career in McDonalds or any similar place:
First, you sweep the floor, clean the tables, after you can wash the vegetables, later on fry potatoes...
Noone will start in the top position without experience...
So you first should start reporting (sweeping, cleaning).
Meanwhile, you can learn about bitcoin and the forum, so you'll be ready to do something more complex for the forum sooner or later. Noone will become an admin in a few weeks/months time, I guess...

I don't know what you have heard from other places but even if theymos hires you, he won't teach you how the forum works, you'd be given a few more perks than the normal users, which you'd use to help the forum in clearing the trash. You are definitely not going to learn how to code, if you're by any chance "hired". theymos takes care of all the coding part and for the new forum, Slickage is doing the work still(?).

Make that a century. You can't even become a moderator/staff in a few weeks/months/years. There are my alts users who have more than 36,000 reports and they are not a staff.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. Taking my time in reporting  for now.

Study cryptography. Create new original and high-quality posts. This is the best help for the development of forum and cryptographic literacy of people. I apologize for my English.
That's one of the things I want to accomplish. I envy those who can discuss the technical aspects of cryptocurrency. Any suggestion on where to start?

Please note that being an associate is not my aim guys. Even knowing the hassles of running a forum is fine for me. Every experience matters.
