I actually hate it, after the first season it's not funny.

They start making fun of people being nerdy instead, and want the viewers to see everything through Penny's eyes and laughtrack at random places where uncommon words are being used.

Fuck that shit.

Watch Community if you want a good show, or the Office.

I enjoy The Big Bang Theory, but the laugh track really pisses me off. Who actually laughs out loud at every line of a sitcom? I'd love to watch it without one to see the difference.

I like The Big Bang Theory and watch it every now and then but I did see a clip of the show online without the laugh track. Man, it was cringeworthy. It looked as if they were waiting for the laugh track to do its thing before moving on to other dialogue. It doesn't show too much when the laugh track's there, though.

As for other shows, House of Cards season 2 is about to hit and I can't wait.

Ha, I can imagine. I've seen various interviews with the cast where they say they can tell if a joke is working or not by whether the audience laughs or not, but since they seemingly laugh at anything I was a bit confused at how that worked. I'd really love to see a filming to directly compare.

Really liked the first season of House of Cards. I'm interested to see where Spacey's character gets to or where they take him.

I want nothing short of a manipulated presidency for him... ;)

Yeah, I can't make up my mind whether I'd want him to get there just yet though. Maybe another season building up to season 3 for Presidency or something. I'm excited to see what happens though.

yeah it works quite well although u cant put dry herb into it. only BHO concentrates. do you know what that is?

Bron.Broen and the remakes The Tunnel & The Bridge are worth watching. Though the original is far superior, but the British/French version is also pretty good.

The British version I hope? I honestly can't stand the American version but loved Ricky Gervais' series.

I think there's two types of American comedies. There's the ones that last a few seasons and are pretty funny, and then there's the ones like Rules of Engagement and How I Met Your Mother that are enjoyable but the laughs are few and far between and they go on like soaps and don't know when to end. Perfect example of this is The UK Office verses the American one.

Agreed. I quit on How I Met Your Mother when I saw that the writers just wanted to milk everything for as long as humanly possible. The show was charming and funny (though Ted was a creep) but also got very repetitive. I stopped at season 5 I think.

They do it everytime, but I'm not a massive fan of American comedies, or those ones that are basically occasionally funny soaps. They make the best dramas, but I always prefer British comedy.

Isn't it finishing soon? I watch it when it's on and there's a couple of laughs now and again, but it's not something I follow. I was never a fan of Friends either and it's just the same situation really.

haha I don't find HIMYM that much fun/humors either , BTW IMHO its no where near to FRIENDS , FRIENDS is still better then any one out there..

So, this tumblr post basically says "Their jokes are not funny, the audience laughs at normal conversation and nonsense, and boho I'm a nerd myself and I'm expected to relate to Penny".
I'm sorry but if this is where you got your opinion from I'd suggest you watch the show for yourself. You basically just read a long text, assumed the person writing it was right, and copied his flawed arguments.

i think the big bang theory is a pretty good show. it gives me laughs most of the time. but im not gonna lie it gets old fast and i only watch it occasionaly when theres really nothing else on tv

I think the writing on The Big Bang Theory was a lot better in the earlier seasons. Nowadays, the writers use every characters' personality traits as a writing crutch. The episodes are pretty much just a giant "what if such-and-such happened" and sees every character reacting to it with what we already know about them.

It does get a little old, but I'm hoping for a bit of a shake up...

I can't blame the writers though; they built great characters over the years.

When talking about British comedy, I liked Black books  :)

That's one British show I really disliked. I also hated Spaced and everybody seems to love that.

Just watched first episode of House of Cards. Got a feeling I'm gonna blitz through this.

Yeah, that could be a spin off haha. Maybe he attempts to or actually assassinates the president, and later on his VP does it to him. Very interested to see where they take him. I see they've already commissioned a third series.

And this guy can't wait! Up to episode 7 now... Getting very interesting (not that that's surprising!).

I think this season has been a bit slower than the first, but it's picking up a bit now. I'm on ep 8 next.

Has anyone seen seasons 2 and 3 of Homeland? I might watch them next. Loved the first season. That's another show where I'm really excited to see where they take the main character.

Second season wasn't as good as the first. Haven't seen the third.

On to the last ep of House of Cards now. I've got a feeling they're going to end it on a cliff-hanger or go out with a bang.

Yup. It didn't really end with a bang or on a cliff-hanger, but they set it up nicely for season 3, though the last episode felt a bit rushed to me, like they tried to quickly cram everything in. Can't really say much without giving stuff away, but overall I enjoyed it, but no where as good as the first season, but I'm looking forward to what scrapes Francis gets himself in now  ;D.

I'm on episode 9. Like you said it's not as exciting as the first season but I'm still liking it. Claire is such a bitch lol.

Yeah,  I kinda like how callous and manipulative she is. Who's more evil? Francis or Claire? I love how they've both just been completely corrupted by the greed of power. It's interesting to see what they'll do now but I still can't really say anything without giving away spoilers  ;D.

Anybody here excited for the next Game of Thrones season ?

I've not seen a single episode of Game of Thrones but I always hear good things about it. Not in a rush to watch it though.

I thought the last episode was a tad rushed as well, but I still highly enjoyed it. I think I was screaming at my TV a little bit, but not negatively... Haha!

Yeah, I tried starting the show but the first episode bored me to tears so I didn't continue... I dunno, I guess I'm not the biggest fantasy/medieval fan.

Same here. I don't even like LOTR, now that really bored me to tears, though I'm sure GoT would be more enjoyable, but like I said, I'm in no rush to check it out.

I love the series jericho I think it was made back in 2003 and hasn't had another series since but its such a good series.

Watch Revolution if you haven't. Other then that try American Horror Story. As for comedy I like cartoons, if you haven't seen Rick and Morty check it out right now.

True Detective does look good, but I don't really want to get into another TV series at the moment. Not enough time.

Only watched a few episodes of Revolution but I thought it was shit. I want to see AHS though.

The latest season of AHS was it's best... So go check it out! I do like the concept they've got going on...

What concept is that? I've not seen much of it at all, just seen the good reviews.

Basically, every season has its one separate story but uses some of the same cast. In other words, an actor from season 1 can be in season 2 but play a completely different character.

So far, the seasons have been more or less like this:

1-A house of horror.
2-Psychological institution mixed with alien abductions, nazi scientists, etc.
3-Young witches at a coven, which includes appearances from zombies and voodoo magic.

i recently watched american horror story season 1 on netflix. i recommend anyone that likes these type of movies because this was suprisiingly a good watch

TV is for kids

It relies more on atmosphere, IMO. It gets pretty campy but I definitely wouldn't say tat's it's super scary.
