Seriously, how are you calculating your profit?

You can't count the returned stake of a winning bet as profit.

According to what you posted you won (0.2 + 0.11 + 1.1 = ) 1.41 and lost 2. That would mean you lost 0.59 units total.

You're right, sorry about that. I have updated my post with the right numbers. That last match returned 3.10 units not 2.10 units. Next time I won't type so fast. 8)

Even at 3.1 I believe you would still only be at +0.41 Units. Anyway, good picks tho! I never bet on E-Sports.. I dont follow it enough. Im about 285 - 138 record so far in the last month in reg sports on Bitbook. Hit me up if anyone has any questions. Ill post picks as I make them in your other betting thread.

Yes, I know thats why I updated my post (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=457023.msg5045659#msg5045659). How many units are you up or down for last month? Last month for my VIP picks I was down over 11 units. But my free picks and personally picks kept my bankroll growing. I am going to make esports part of my normal betting for now on. I have fun playing league of legends and watching the matches with money on the line really makes things more fun to watch.

Thursday, Feb 13th, 2014: League of Legends
SK Gaming vs Fnatic
Copenhagen Wolves vs SHC XD
ROCCAT vs Alliance
Gambit Gaming vs Millenium
--------------------------
My Picks
Fnatic (1.242/-413)
SHC XD (2.170/+117)
ROCCAT (1.523/-191)
Gambit Gaming (1.236/-424)
--------------------------
I will post my picks for Friday on Thursday after the matches are done.

Match #1 is done. Fnatic lost to SK Gaming. SK earned my respect this match, they took control of this match over the best team in the EU LCS. I'm glad I only put 1 unit on each match.

Title: Re: ** eSports Betting Tips Thread **
Post by: mrdeposit on February 14, 2014, 01:18:39 AM
My Picks
Fnatic (1.242/-413): Lose
SHC XD (2.170/+117): Win Returned: 2.17 (This was my underdog pick)
ROCCAT (1.523/-191): Win Returned: 1.53
Gambit Gaming (1.236/-424): Win Returned: 1.23

Total Wagered: 4
Total Returned: 4.93
Profit: +0.93

Fnatic failed me but I respect SK skills. SHC won as I knew they would. ROCCAT pulled off the win, I didn't get to watch the whole thing but when I was watching it seem like they was going to lose. I put it out of my mind until I remember the last match (which I didn't get to watch) and seen that my bet on ROCCAT had won. Gambit Gaming is a force to be dealt with and they played one of the worse teams in EU LCS so it was an easy win in my mind, although I didn't get to watch this match either. So I don't know if they struggled or not. I will watch it later to see.

My picks for tomorrow will be posted after I finish watching the video of today's matches.

Friday's Matches For EU LCS (League of Legends)
Alliance vs Supa Hot Crew
Fnatic vs Millenium
Copenhagen Wolves vs ROCCAT
SK Gaming vs Gambit Gaming
------------------------------
My Picks
Supa Hot Crew (2.290 / +129)
Fnatic (1.309 / -324)
Copenhagen Wolves (3.000 / +200)
SK Gaming (4.090 / +309)

Those are my picks for tomorrow. I feel Fnatic is my underdog pick for Friday only because Millenium is due for a win. They are bound to win a game sooner or later. (Just hope it isn't against Fnatic) On a side note, if any of you play LoL please pm me your name on there. We can have some matches as I do need to build up my account. Im only on level 12 and learning as I go. 8)

My Picks Results
Supa Hot Crew (2.290 / +129): Risked 1 Unit; Returned: 2.29 Units
Fnatic (1.309 / -324): Risked 1 Unit; Lose
Copenhagen Wolves (3.000 / +200): Risked 1 Unit; Lose
SK Gaming (4.090 / +309): Risked 1 Unit; Returned: 4.09 Units

Total Units Wagered: 4
Total Units Returned: 6.38
Profit: +2.38

I am kind of disappointed with today because I knew Millenium was due for a win but I still went with Fnatic. That move was just not smart but I still came out on top today. I will post my picks for NA LCS later today for Saturday matches.

I'm curious, how do you cap the matches?  I know nothing about e-sports but have always thought that someone who is very knowledgeable could really beat the books since there are so few that carry lines on the games, so those lines must be susceptible to being beatable.  Is there a pretty well defined hierarchy where Team A should always beat Team B who should always beat Team C ect ect?  Is it rock-paper-scissors like Magic where if a team uses a certain combination they can beat a team using another certain combination, but will always lose if the other team uses a different combination?  I'm always interested in learning about poorly-defined markets because there is a strong possibility to capitalize (for example a team that is listed at +200, but has a 40% chance to win the game is a tremendous bet, and one that you'll never see in nba/nfl/nhl/mlb).  Thanks for any info you can provide.

I typed a lot but deleted it. Honestly, I have no idea about other esports besides league of legends. Which is why you see me only posting my picks about those matches. The best way for me to decide for the EU LCS matches is watch how they played last week to decide the thursday matches then from there decide the friday matches. As for NA LCS is the same for Saturday matches and then decide Sunday matches from there.

There are matches where team A is a 60% favorite and Team B has +100 or better odds to win the match. For example, Copenhagen Wolves vs SHC on Thursday. Supa Hot Crew had +117 odds, fans voted 40% for them to win, and really did have a 50% chance of winning.

Cool, I guess that's basically what I'm asking...since there aren't very many people capping the matches, do you think that the lines that are put out are basically based on fans voting and not necessarily the actual skill disparity between the teams?  I always figured that was the case (and thus would make the lines very beatable) but I have no idea how the game works so I can't really check my theory.

I tried to watch a couple of games, and while I certainly understand the basics of the game, I didn't know what was going on.  I don't know if a team does something that's very skillful or very sloppy, it just kind of looks like running back and forth to me.  Is there a way for me to educate myself aside from just putting hundreds of hours into the game?

Besides playing the game, I would recommend reading the game forum. Find the beginner section and learn everything while watching the matches every week. You will start to see the right and wrong things that are being done.

Saturday's NA LCS Matches

Team SoloMid vs Team Dignitas
------------------------------
My Picks For Today
Cloud 9 Hyperx (1.243 / -412)
Curse Gaming (1.775 / -129)
XDG Gaming (1.609 / -164)
Team SoloMid (1.261 / -383)

Note: All my esports picks are always 1 unit per bet.

My Picks For Saturday's NA LCS Matches
Cloud 9 Hyperx (1.243 / -412): Wagered 1 Unit, lose
Curse Gaming (1.775 / -129): Wagered 1 Unit, lose
XDG Gaming (1.609 / -164): Wagered 1 Unit, lose
Team SoloMid (1.261 / -383): Wagered 1 Unit, Returned: 1.26

Total Units Wagered: 4
Total Returned: 1.26
Lose: -2.74

That's what I get for trying to play it safe and roll with the favorites to win. I felt I should have betted against Cloud 9 but I didn't. Nobody to blame but myself.

EU LCS Week 6 Day 1 Matches
Millenium vs Copenhagen Wolves
Gambit Gaming vs ROCCAT
Supa Hot Crew vs Fnatic
SK Gaming vs Alliance
------------------------
My Picks
Copenhagen Wolves (1.909 / -110)
ROCCAT (1.429 / -233): Very undecided on this so I went with the favorites.
Supa Hot Crew (2.330 / +133): My favorite team in the EU LCS
SK Gaming (1.555 / -180): I learn to respect this team.

Those are my picks for EU LCS week 6 day 1 matches. Anyone else place bets on these matches?

My Picks For EU LCS Week 6 Day 1 Matches
Copenhagen Wolves (1.909 / -110): Win (1 unit wagered, units returned: 1.90 units)
ROCCAT (1.429 / -233): Win (1 unit wagered, units returned: 1.42 units)
Supa Hot Crew (2.330 / +133): Win (1 unit wagered, units returned: 2.33 units)
SK Gaming (1.555 / -180): Lose (1 unit wagered)

Units Wagered: 4
Units Returned: 5.65
Net Units: +1.65

No surprise to me that I won 3 out of 4 today. I am pretty good at picking EU LCS matches. Its the NA LCS matches on Saturday & Sunday I will have trouble with.

Once I get some more money I will buy more bitcoins and bet on all the matches myself so newcomers have guaranteed action. I'm sure there are people out there who want to bet on esports, just gotta find them.

Right now i've bet on someone who is almost guaranteed to lose so if anyone wants some free bitcoin just bet the minimum against me

Yes, I have basketball picks (free & vip) via email. Check out my thread. Click here (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=140462.0). From time to time I have soccer picks but its few and far inbetween. I mainly focus on basketball, football, and hockey. That's why I made this thread for me and anybody else who like esports from time to time. 8)

You still running this little thing buddy? Here are my week 9 picks, don't have any BTC on any games except for the Roccat one though (They are due for a win!)

GAMBIT GAMING V ALLIANCE
SUPA HOT CREW XD V MILLENNIUM
ROCCAT V FNATIC
COPENHAGEN WOLVES VS SK GAMING
GAMBIT GAMING V MILLENIUM
ROCCAT V SK GAMING
ALLIANCE V SUPA HOT CREW XD
FNATIC VS COPENHAGEN WOLVES
[/pre]

Theres a lot of faith there in Roccat I know, but they won me big bucks early in the season and with the recent meta shift I think we are going to see a much stronger Roccat bot lane tomorrow.

I like your picks but I'd picked SHC over Millennium.

I thought they would be hungry for a win after IEM, especially from a team they have the ability to beat. I didn't know about SHC's new mid laner though, looks like it worked out pretty well for them.

Hi guys,

I developed a betting tracker for eSports bettors where you can keep track and analyze your bets. If you are interested you can find it at http://esportbetting.eu (http://esportbetting.eu). I would love some users to get feedback on how I can develop it further to provide value. The site also offers odds comparison, calculators and reviews.

Greetings mrdeposit,

Do you keep statistical analisys about your historical data?

Info such as "Profit (units)", "Yield (or ROI)", "Total Staked", "Avg. Odds"?

That would be great to see at the original post (msg #1).

BTW I'm thinking about creating a ranking list of tipsters and and handicappers from our cryptocurrencies community.

If that project comes to reality, I'll use that kind of data in order to rank the participants.

After all, it's nice to see some betting info about League of Legends and other eSports. I bet esports betting has a huge potential yet to be explored.

Best of luck.
