Post by: yogabba on February 09, 2014, 10:39:27 PM
Hi,

pretty simple question. Can i run 3 r9 280x without risers on this board?

http://www.amazon.com/P8Z68-V-PRO-GEN3-Intel-Motherboard/dp/B005UDITPK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1391985419&sr=8-1&keywords=ASUS+P8Z68-V+PRO%2FGEN3 (http://www.amazon.com/P8Z68-V-PRO-GEN3-Intel-Motherboard/dp/B005UDITPK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1391985419&sr=8-1&keywords=ASUS+P8Z68-V+PRO%2FGEN3)

I can get it for around 90€.

And if not, could you recommend me one? Intel Socket 1155, because i already have a spare cpu.

Thanks in advance.

It really comes down to the size of cards per manufacturer, my Asus R9 280x's take up 3 slots so I could only mount 2 on that board without risers. Risers are preferred. If you find 2 slot cards you can run them without risers, if they are not in a case. They will run somewhat hot though. They will be blowing hot air on each other, so make sure to have a box fan or something similar mounted behind them.

I hope the gist you get out of this is you should get some risers.
