No, only cards that support CUDA/OpenCL will work, at minimum an 8xxx card. (Keep in mind NVIDIA cards mine much slower than ATI cards so if you're going to buy a card specificaly for mining {very bad idea; you're going to lose money} then you would buy an ATI card.) Are you taking off the cost of electricity? at that rate, unless his electricity is really expensive, it shouldn't be that relevant. an 5870 draws about 190W, so at 24x7 operation for those 19 days, that comes to about $9 worth of electricity at the rate i would pay if i paid for my electricity directly.
