Title: Unconfirmed Transaction
Post by: jerry0 on July 02, 2018, 04:55:53 PM
I have a nano ledger s for using bitcoin and i recently had btc sent to my electrum wallet as oppose to my nano ledger s.  I haven't used electrum in a while.

I received the btc to my electrum wallet and it shows the amount and the balance.  Its however still showing as unconfirmed at the moment.

I had this happen many times a while back when i only used electrum.  But aren't btc transfers a lot quicker now?  I recalled i had unconfirmed transactions for a while especially when btc was very slow etc.  I'm using electrum 3.0.5 at the moment.

I assume the sender used a very low sending fee?  So that would mean had i used the nano ledger s address, that would still be the same with unconfirmed?

You should upgrade to the latest version of electrum. There were issues with segwit outputs in earlier versions. Upgrading will also give your transaction time to confirm :)

The electrum can gives you lower fee and it's not updated fee.

Anyway, you can try to speedup your transaction to get confirm soon.
Get your transaction ID from electrum then follow the guide here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2510862.0

You don't need to pay to speed up your transaction everything there is free but I don't know if it is working or not.

Hi there okay transaction went through.  So when do you guys upgrade electrum?  Do you check the site every so often to make sure there is update?

If it is still unconfirmed, you can right click on the transaction and select Child Pays For Parent (CPFP). This will create a new transaction that will have a higher fee. Because the miners are looking for higher fees, they will want to mine the new tx, but will have to mine the old one first. Make sure to enable spending of unconfirmed coins in settings.

You can subscribe to the github tags feed: https://github.com/spesmilo/electrum/tags.atom . I also recommend bookmarking the release notes so you know what's changed: https://github.com/spesmilo/electrum/blob/master/RELEASE-NOTES

The type of addresses that the transaction outputs are being assigned to makes no difference to the confirmation speed of the transaction. It does not matter if your receiving address is Legacy "1-type", "3-type" or "bc1".

The overriding factor is generally the fee rate that has been set by the sender and the prevailing network conditions (size of mempool/number of unconfirmed transactions and the fee rates used by those transactions).

I received the btc to my electrum wallet and it shows the amount and the balance.  Its however still showing as unconfirmed at the moment.
Unconfirmed in Electrum? unconfirmed on a block explorer? or unconfirmed on Both?

- If Electrum only and it shows as confirmed on blockexplorer, then it's likely a syncing issue or the Electrum server you're connected to is lagging
- If Both, then the transaction is actually unconfirmed and it's likely a low fee-rate and/or "flooded" mempool issue.

first open your network to see if you have the whole blockchain_headers file.
from menu: Tools > Network
at the bottom, in the list below it shows the list of nodes and they show you the longest chain's height. it is currently 533865. above that it shows your blockchain and the last block header that you have. that number should be the same as the one that node show.
if it is not then you are not downloading the whole thing. let it sync and the problem should be fixed.

if that is not the case try creating a new wallet and restore from your seed.
from menu: File > New/restore > enter a name and then choose the correct option for your wallet type and do the restore.

Can always try shutting down Electrum, going to the data directory and manually deleting the blockchain_headers file and then restart Electrum. That will force it to redownload and hopefully sync up properly.

For location of the data directory refer to: http://docs.electrum.org/en/latest/faq.html#where-is-my-wallet-file-located
