As for why are they selling them if they are so great? Senseless addressed that question: He wanted to start his own private farm with 3,000 units but could not find the funding. No, I agree, this is not about decentralization. But that does not mean this FPGA thing is going to be smoke and mirrors. You can quote this: by Thanksgiving there will be actual YouTube videos of FPGA units wailing away at certain algorithms. And yes, I did order 2 BCU1525 units. If I can shrink my foot print, draw less power, and have some hope of reprogramming/repurposing, then I am all for it. Do you write GPU mining code software like EWBF and Claymore? No. Neither do I. So what's the difference with an FPGA bitstream that someone else writes? Unless you have the capital to buy a lot of FPGAs, mining in secret is only going to yield you so much. At some point (4% dev fee?), it makes sense to license your work. No more hardware to buy, no hosting issues, no power problems. The money just rolls in -- IF you can protect your intellectual property. Team Claymore -- how many tropical islands do you think they have purchased by now? And MasterNodes, if that is all the coin has to offer, are shit. Too many of them and people will eventually wake up to the fact that MasterNodes are, ah, kind of akin to Ponzi schemes if you think about it. I was against Denarius going down the MasterNode route. MasterNodes are not going to be the answer. The answer was probably: sell your coins, sell all your hardware back in January and just sit tight for the cycle to play out. But I doubt very many people had that foresight. I didn't. Yeah I'm with ya, I am not saying masternode all the coins! I mean more along the lines of PoS --- Neo+Gas -- at least it earns a bit and is not a ridiculous earning rate (ex. bitconnect) I'm looking for masternodes with a purpose, like zencash supernodes and loki service nodes, two projects I follow that I hope will yield great results but until then it is simply prospecting. Crypto is still such an infant Everything is cyclical so. . . sooner . . or it seems later . . things HAVE to turn around. When everyone is losing hope and the markets fall maybe even further is probably when the next epic rally will come. As far as FPGA I am planning on it! I am not writing FPGA off by any means, there is just a lot of hype surrounding them and what if one they come out Bitmain drops their FPGA (because I have confirmation they have FPGAs mining) and it is 1/3 the price people paid for the others? The crypto space and especially mining has become such a whirlwind it is insane... Don't want a huge risk w/ them I'm excited to see the next generation of GPUs finally come out, will be interesting to see how they impact mining (hopefully a massive impact) |
