Title: What is your target temp and max temp on gpu?
Post by: Bigdrago on July 03, 2018, 06:25:06 PM
Hi.
For those who use software to control temp on gpu.
What is your max temp on gpu and what is your target temp?

I have target temp 50C and  max temp 85C before they trottle. I have my rigs outside and temp varies with weather. If thw sun is shining on my boxes in the morning and the temp is over 30C some of the gpu reach 85C and throttle until the sun is out of reach and temp lowers.
I miss winter :)

Using overdriventool

I have a small setup of 21 gpus. I try to keep the temperature below 70 and max before I turn off the GpU is 75

AMD Cards

target 72
limit 80

set target/limit via Claymore;

When I still had my mining rig I tried holding the temps down from 75C. Had 5 GPU rig where 3 cards (Reference R9 290 cards) were watercooled and when we still had winter the temps on the first card of the loop were below 30C :D. 2 of my other cards were also R9 290 but with aftermarket coolers and the temps were 75C at most on them.

I know a person who has run his reference R9 290 heat blowers on 94C for three years now only changing thermal paste and pads from time to time.

target 55
limit 60

(dont go 65c +)

target: 55
limit: 70 (shutdown temp)

My rigs always stays between 50 and 60, in summer (now we are in winter here, so rigs at 45C not more) it could get very rough, some gpus reach 62/63 but not more.

anything above 70C will deteriorate cards seriously and i always babysit my cards a lot, they are too expensive to risk damaging them.

Target: 65
Limit: 80

temp rarely reaches 80 because my room is always cool

IMHO 70-75 is just safe. Anything below 70 is ideal and above 80 is the red zone.

Changed max temp to 80C. Guess they will throttle a little bit on the hottest days. But it is better to keep the cards healthy.

Basically most of the AMD Reference GPUs are fine at running at temps over 90C for long periods of time.

I had a few Reference GPUs like the Radeon 6990, Radeon 7950, R9 290. The 7950/290 ran perfectly fine at 90C.

The Radeon 6990 I think was designed to run at even 105C and was perfectly fine. It was a dual GPU beast.

I think they designed them like this so they are not crazy loud to scare gamers.

I tried changing the thermal paste on them... however it was little to no difference actually. They are just designed to run hot and loud.

Ambient temperature + 20 Celcius is target temp, + 35 is shutdown.

At %90 fan and max temp, I start to decrease power.

For commercial grade electronics, 70+ degrees Celcius is not safe for long periods.

In all my Rx570, RX470, RX480 i have target between 65c and 69c.
Max temp for stop/shutdown is above 85c.

But it depends where you live and the room temperature. In my case, my room is about 15c.

The ambient temperature here in summer is very hot, typically around 35C. I usually set this: Target: 64 Limit: 75, I dont want to force gpu fan too much.

It's pretty cool where I live, even during the summers, though there are occasional heatwaves during the summer and my cards do throttle during them.

New cards just aren't designed to operate continuously at higher temps anymore, as we can see with most targets and limits here- some of that's attributed to the fact that current cards are much less power hungry than older gen cards, though. Under normal operation you shouldn't be reaching 80-90C.

Target- 60C
Limit- 75C

I'm surprised that the target temps on the poll are much higher than usual. I always thought that below 65 degrees should have always been the norm and target for all GPUs. That being said, i would be interested to know how many more people run at greater than 70 degrees on their GPUs.

FYI, i run 470s, 480s, 1070s, 1080tis.

Wow.
I have some References (XFX and Sapphire) but when the temperature is at 90 then the rig will restart itself or freeze also I'm having Riser board melt and a cable PSU (Corsair) from/to GPU a bit heat.

Target : 65C
Max Temp (shutdown) : 85C

installed 8x PWM 120mm Delta Fan 0.75A on Rig case , with 4x for fresh air flow comes in, and the other 4x for hot air flow goes out.

Yes, I agree that my maximum temperature is 90 °. More than 90 ° I do not recommend heating the percent. In this case it is necessary to put radiators on water or additional coolers.

Got some gigabyte windforce 1080 that are at around 75c during this current heatwave, they are really hard to cool down.1080tis on the other hand are at 60c

My GPU in the winter show the temperature from 45 to 56 degrees. In summer when the temperature outside is 35+ they are heated to 65-68 degrees. Then I lower the parameters to lower the temperature. Automatic shutdown of the GPU I have is set to parameter 72 degrees. I think that this is the maximum limit which it is undesirable to exceed.
