Title: are there virtualbox links for dev environments?
Post by: sstark on February 11, 2014, 02:25:33 AM
Hello,

I'm having a really hard time trying to setup a windows build environment for namecoin, and was curious is maybe this could be easier?

Are there already existing, or possibly does anyone here have, any virtual machines ( virtualbox preferred ) for build environments that I could download, for bitcoin or namecoin, litecoin, etc? it could very much help speed things along.

thank you!

gitian (http://gitian.org/) is build system that incorporates a virtual machine to make deterministic builds for bitcoin. the configuration is relatively simple, but if you're looking for 1 click build, this is not it.

To answer my own question, I have found a thread with linux VM's in it. still looking for windows.

thanks this is very interesting, and I have used vagrant before.

I see one for namecoin, but not for windows. that does make sense, though
