What do you really think the bottom of bitcoin price after MTGOX is down?

Is $500 the bottom price of bitcoin now?
$400?
$300?
$200?
$100?
$80?

Let me know your thoughts!

I believe that if MTGOX announce another negative news, the price will drop half again. So the market is still full of fear. Only MTGOX is dead completely, the market will be stable and rebuild the ecosystem again. As long as MTGOX existed, the market will be manipulated by them.

I wish MTGOX went to the hell, never back. They had fiat withdrawal issue last year due to BTC was cheaper at that time, and they have BTC withdrawal issue now because of the higher price. What a ridiculous!

Here is one of my fiat withdrawal issue last year, I never withdrawal both fiat and BTC successfully at MTGOX!

around 500 then bounce back.  of course it would have a short term impact , but long term bitcoin always bounces back it seems whenever gox causes prices to drop.

I think it will go down to 250$-450$ (wild range I know) and when it bounces back for good, it will eventually reach new highs within a year

Let's be bold and try to predict accurately : it will not go down more than 375$ and it will bounces back before the end of 2014 at 3-4000$ a pop when the dollar will start crashing down

I think the future of MtGox's offline is clear to most people, that kind of expectation has been show in the current price, so that will not be huge damage to the market.

$500 should be safe, and a bounce back is expected.

If MTGOX goes down and takes peoples fiat and coins with it - is that an idictment of bitcoin, or a demonstration of counterparty risk, and a lesson not to keep to much coin or fiat on exchange?

Regardless of what happens, in the longer run gox no longer existing is a positive for bitcoin

If the price falls I will be buying (on stamp) below $500, until my fiat held there (not a lot) runs out, then I will HODL

I agree ~$500. The target price as you can see is at least ~$700, the average price before the Gox crash was staying above that level and quickly went back there, even though the problem hasn't been resolved.

They do exist, but not in the users' hands. It is possible that the MtGox team is already dumping the coins on other exchanges.

We probably have one week before Gox is officially dead, considering current price fall rate on other exchanges they will be in a week probably somewhere at $450. After that, Gox will be dead and BTC will have some negative media attention, so I guess price will continue to decline, but at slower rate. It will last probably around 2-3 months. Question is where it will end it's decline, well probably somewhere around $200-$250 after that we will have 2 months of slow increase and then new rally, just as nothing happened :D

You have to admit -- buying in the low $100s or double digits, then turning around and selling in the $500s looks pretty fucking juicy.

Buying at 100$ then selling those goxBTC at a 50% discount for realBTC looks pretty juicy&safe as well

There are two possible scenarios:

1. MtGox survives and allows btc withdrawals: people will arbitrage their mtgox coins on other exchanges and the prices will aligne somewhere in the middle between all exchages: something like 300-400$

2. MtGox files bakrupcy: people will lose trust in bitcoin and will sell: price will drop something around 400$ (hard to say)

Agreed.

You'd think the people on Bitcointalk would be smarter than the weak hands who run crying at any bad news.

But going by how you all talk (above) ... you are the weak hands.

None of you have any knowledge or awareness or faith in the Bitcoin infrastructure, do you?  Its all about the market price.  Nothing more.  The highs.  The lows.  The bad news...

Congrats.  You guys are the reason the Bitcoin price can't stay stable.

I encourage you all to stop for a moment and read this:  http://thenextweb.com/insider/2014/02/15/bitcoin-platform-currency (http://thenextweb.com/insider/2014/02/15/bitcoin-platform-currency)

Bitt, you are the reason that bubbles occur.  Speculation is good.  Speculation is price discovery.  Derivatives reduce volatility.  Grow up.

This is utter bullshit.   Grow up (in your Bitcoin knowledge).  Bitcoin is not a stock.  It is a platform.  And while you and all your buddies are sweating all day hunched over your computers to try and make $15 on the highs and lows, the rest of us are investing in whats actually being created, and not stressing over some bad news.  Bad news is irrelevant.  Speculation has a negative connotation.  Call it what it really is:  Confidence in the technology.  Your confidence is in your charts that you used for Google stock.  This is why your'e all freaking out and terrified right now, while the rest of us are relaxed.  Fortunately as *ADOPTION* increases, and the volatility decrease as a result, you all wont have enough highs and dips to warrant sticking around, and you'll go back to your eTrade screens.

Actually i take it back.  Maybe 90% of you are flipping out because your days of arbitrage from Bitstamp to Gox, etc are now over.

I can see why you're all so sad.  For the rest of us, omitting your kind from the equation is good.

None of you did anything good for Bitcoin, its price stability, or its reputation.

Sorry to see you go.

Sorry to see you go.

You're furious, and you shouldn't be.

You getting angry at speculators makes about as much sense as getting angry at weather forecasters.  The more people chiming in on what they consider to be a fair price for something, the more accurate its pricing will be.

Besides, anyone who buys a single Satoshi is a speculator.  Bitt, you speculated on Bitcoin when you bought it at $X price.  You continue to speculate on it by NOT buying or selling at $Y price.  There is no high road for you to take.  Stop getting emotional about this, it does no one any good.

Dude, I think you need to take a break from bitcoin for awhile, maybe find a new hobby like sailing or fishing, chill out a little. I've been frequenting the forum for almost a year off and on and you seem to be getting really worked up over this bear market recently. I don't get all this misdirected angst toward the "weak hands", we're in a period of price discovery, this is absolutely normal for an emerging market, and if you have faith, it means a good buying opportunity for you. So don't sweat it so much.

My money is on $500 (on stamp).

Before we can head on up we're going to need to double-bottom somewhere, and then re-test the double-bottom with a slightly higher bottom. This could take days, weeks, months, maybe even a year or two. Thats the way these things work around here.

There is only 1 counter strategy against the dumping bot on Gox:

Simply replace all your bids to $1. Let's see, if the bot will sell the coins for that price.

bitcoin will be on a slow bleed down until some really big fundamental shift happens

such as

a big country bailing in all bank deposits

or

amazon.com accepting bitcoin

something along those lines. Right now its a non stop stream of bad news.

i dont care what price it goes down to, whether its 400 or 30. Will not buy until there is that game changing piece of news.

bitcoin will be on a slow bleed down until some really big fundamental shift happens

such as

a big country bailing in all bank deposits

or

amazon.com accepting bitcoin

something along those lines. Right now its a non stop stream of bad news.

i dont care what price it goes down to, whether its 400 or 30. Will not buy until there is that game changing piece of news.

This big positive news for Bitcoin could happen sooner than expected
The dollar will plunge within 2years, Big western Banks will fail within 3years, corruption is high, taxes are increasing; it will seem extremely sweet to have a few bitcoins when the shi.t hit the fan

I'm pro bitcoin but if the dollar plunges in 2 years and banks fail in 3 years then it will be the end of America and not the beginning of bitcoin.
Bitcoin cannot build the infrastructure that fiat has in that short of a period and have everyone adopt it. We need years of investing in infrastructure before that can happen.

Look at technology like electric cars and mobile phones ... it took years before every city had cell towers and it will take some years before you can refuel your electric car everywhere....
