Title: Bitcoins <---> Gold/Silver Bullion
Post by: WiseOldOwl on September 28, 2011, 02:21:36 PM
I see that there are a few sites that sell gold and silver for bitcoins, but they are at near or more than 100% markup!!!

I have Gold and Silver at reasonable prices. It is all .999 pure at least (if it isn't it will be noted and obvious like sterling)

If anyone is interested. I can buy it too in BTC :)

Some common forms we deal in are:

Gold Bars/Rounds-
1 gram
5 gram
10 gram
1 oz.
10 oz.
Silver Bars/Rounds-
1/4 oz.
1/2 oz.
1 oz.
10 oz
100 oz.

All prices are obviously subject to change and are not automatically updated. If the price looks confusing it is most likely wrong due to some type of fluctuation, dont be afraid to ask for a certain price or try to work out a deal :)
-At the moment, and this changes often, Silver is about $31/oz Dealer Price
-They charge a small markup to me (like a buck or two at the most).
and I charge between 5-15% which is fair for fronting out the cash and driving etc financial risk etc.
Although usually the price reflects what you normally pay in a store even including my small fee :)

In the end its only like a few bucks more than spot for an ounce of silver which is pretty good compared to one of the sites has it btc equivalent of $65. Especially since we are usually referring to minted rounds which almost always command at least $3 above spot!!

Having BTC and Gold/Silver is a great way to store value, and both are accepted in lots of different places :)

So Here is the store:

-1 oz. .999 Silver "Golden State Mint" Indian Round - 8.75 BTC or about $37
http://t2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRz4lJIwbMnEX3qSUSWL9Q_1UrNNes-iXteIRxwtBiIS7QVuk9C

-1 oz. "Silver Trade Unit" Generic Round - There is a pic below* -
8.35 BTC or about $35.50

-(2) 40% Silver Kennedy Half Dollar's - These need no pic - 1 BTC or $4.25

-(Supplies very limited) Mexican Libertad 1/20 oz. .999 Silver Coin - 2003/2004 RARE* - These are a little more than 1.5 grams of silver each and are government issue from Mexico. - 3 BTC each or about $13 , these go on APMEX for $15 each!!!. Ask me if you are interested. They are limited mint rare coins.

Why dont you start your own thread about that service?

It's kind of funny that neither of the services you advertise in your signature, or all of your posts, are easily or readily available.

Can you give details on the silver? Is is bullion or coins? Which types/brands/etc are you trading?

Title: Re: Bitcoins <---> Gold/Silver Bullion

It is always changing,
I have a friend with a shop that buys and sells gold/silver :)

Today I got a generic round for myself like the one below, and he had a cool 1oz. JM bar and things of this type.
http://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQOeLhWkeeQ1ovsjFycoGMeVfRhNaTRQKZQ20-aw0B62XEs2DKCEQ
But there are a lot of different things. He has unlabeled .999 silver from processing silver in kilo slabs, he has sterling silver, he has minted rounds and bars. Whatever you want really.
Obviously the better the name and refiner the higher the premium. But Im trying to keep the prices low as possible.
Do you want me to make a list of minted rounds and bars available by company name?

Title: Re: Bitcoins <---> Gold/Silver Bullion
Post by: WiseOldOwl on September 30, 2011, 02:48:24 AM
I will sell a

-1 oz. Common Round similar to the one above for 7.75 BTC to get things started :)
-1 oz. JM Bar in sleeve for 8.15 BTC

Price subject to change obviously*
BTC was about $4.8 and silver about $31 spot (dealer) when writing this.

Shipping should be $1 or less, or about .2 btc plus roughly 0.1 BTC for each additional round/bar.

I can make a great-looking but simple site for you, for a Bitcoin. I've been working on my web development so I guess this is a good opportunity to apply the skill. Just PM me your requirements.

still waiting on your canadian maples & 1 oz quotes.

Neither of our shops deals with canadians very often, We are US Based. They do do eagles though. 1oz and 10 oz bullion are plentiful.
The quotes change with the prices so just let me know what you are interested in.
Generics are mostly what I deal with because I think nobody will care what mint the silver is, in the end...
Again
Spot + ($2 and 10-15%) = ATM
$29 + ($2 and $2.90-$4.45)
There is a loose algorithm. The best I can do is be fair as possible. In precious metals acquisition, there are always some extra fees over the spot price of the metal, always. Here in California, if you buy less than 1500 dollars at a time, they charge you sales tax. We are making a large purchase to avoid that or you would have to slap 10% on top of the price again!!!
I dont see anyone getting a better deal on metals unless they are selling their profitable collection.
The other thing is it doesnt seem like to many people are interested, no one has bought the above pictured Round?!?!?

Dont see why not :)
Just costs more and takes longer that's all.

Trading gold bullions in EU is tax-free (well, at least in my country), but I don't have an idea if there are some extra taxes while importing bullions from outside EU. Do you know what taxes and restrictions are on "importing" gold to EU? I'm curious if they'll ask for 20% of price on borders...

Yes, they do collect VAT tax.

You have to be kidding me.

I will mislabel the shit out of it if you want.
That is ridiculous.

Also, arent you buying it in bitcoins???
What is a 20% tax on fake money?
Say I sold it to you for a $1.

here are some people brainstorming about the VAT

http://www.tfmetalsreport.com/forum/avoiding-vat-silver-europe/225

It looks like in small amounts you can avoid it or something. Haven't read it all yet.
Also if we use 90% silver American issued coins would it count as bullion? I dont think so.

Wow a buddy of mine moved there last week.

Title: Re: Bitcoins <---> Gold/Silver Bullion

Gold and silver is different from view of taxes. Only gold have some exceptions, but I'm not sure if this exception is also for import from USA.

And no, I'm not mad. I bought GPU from some american guy for bitcoins and I still paid taxes, which was around 20% of card price. If they see lower price on box than it's "common", they will use "common" price for calculating VAT. So that trick with "selling 1oz gold for 1$" won't work ;).

Title: Re: Bitcoins <---> Gold/Silver Bullion
Post by: WiseOldOwl on October 06, 2011, 03:21:25 PM
It is what it is I guess.
If you guys are used to it and ok with it, then the VAT is no big deal I guess.
I just feel bad I cant get you some deal that is better than you are used too.
Watch, if anyone can figure out how to avoid the unjust VAT, it's me.
Is the VAT so that you have to produce and acquire everything locally? If so then I respect that as a way to strengthen Europe.

No, that don't strenghten Europe. It only give more money to government for spending bilions for stupid things.

If you find something how to *not* pay VAT for gold, send me PM...

Probably not the best idea to mention in a public forum but from my understanding the liability falls on the buyer.  I've had a few requests to sell silver without declaring it and decided it wasn't in my customer's best interests.
