Hello im new on "Bitcointalk" i am not new to cryptocurrencies, im thinking of investing money (500/600$) into mining but im not sure. Would i buy "Asic Miners" or just make a whole new pc and mine using "Gpu", would it matter what coin i mine? What would a cheap setup cost for a GPU miner.

If you only have $600 just invest it straight into buying coins

I agree as the difficulty is so high,it's best to avoid buying miners as they simply won't pay off for most people and also you can make a better profit by investing that $600 into BTC directly. :)

Just buy BTC directly now is a better.

You have two likely scenarios:

A) Buy 1 BTC now. In a year you'll have 1 BTC.
B) Buy a miner now. In a year you'll have .8 BTC.

Which sounds better to you?

Funny, with just one Antminer @ 180GH I made a little over 0.6BTC and it has only been working for a little under 3 weeks.

Start with a gpu miner, 2 cards for start and mine scrypt coins, if you want, you can exchange them to BTC.

The one that's hashing RIGHT NOW is the miner that gives you the most bang for your buck, not the one that you pre-order and wait 6 months for.

OP also only has $600 to spend. I believe a KNC Neptune is a bit out of his league price-wise.

Let me put this in a different perspective.

I have invested about 100 GHs in ASIC mining, plus 3+ MHs in GPU. Altogether, I receive about 0.06 btc a day from mining.

I had spent a bit over 2 BTC into a couple of groupbuys on KNC Jupiters; I receive about 0.02 A WEEK from the two groupbuy shares--so far, I have made about 35% of the 2 BTC I had sunk into the groupbuy pre-orders. Needless to say, I will never break even with the pre-order groupbuys,

Never waste your btc on pre-orders.

Ants are by far the best deal at this moment. But whether they can break-even is questionable. Difficulty continues to rise exponentially, which means you only have a few weeks to break even before income drops too low to make a difference.

Eh. Difficulty seems to be holding at 20% maybe less, seems that all the super miners (Monarch, Cointerra, Black Arrow, Blue Toilet, etc) are running either late or under specs.

Best way is to go to a calculation site like bitcoinwisdom, enter the parameters, and trust the numbers. Numbers tend not to lie.

You can always mine for another coin ;)

F*** GPU's get Scrypt Asics.

There are some available in the forums.
GPU's cost too much, waste too much electricity and if you think you can sell them afterwards... well I don't know, think again....

Now you tell me. I just spent a whole $50 for a broken 5970 or whatever it is. Because I'm guessing people are blowing out the (*%#*@&%*$@&%$(& and it's not a complex fix. Maybe.

Ah well, always late to the dance :-) But it keeps me from being too bored.

Why do you think gpu's are not worth it ? There is sha-3 coins, which can be mined only using gpus.

You do realize that Asics can mine other coins too and much faster right?  ::)
