Title: Here is why I think that this generations of ASICS might be actually worth it
Post by: CryptoPanda on February 11, 2014, 04:49:48 PM
So far every next jump of mining hardware (CPU<GPU<ASIC 60nm< ASIC 28nm) have made the previous technology obsolete
Lets take just the  last example where 28nm ASIC is at least 10 times more powerful compared to the same $ value of the previous one.

But correct me if I'm wrong but it should slow down from now on? Even if they do 20nm next how many time more efficient it would be?
And from there on, I believe just intel can make smaller ones at the moment?

I think will have more efficient 28nm.

Look at bitfury 55nm chip, they are ~1W/GH. Their chip beat a lot of 28nm chips and their chip are close from the best 28nm chip.

No because Moore's Law.

Bitfury is underclocked 4 times slower to reduce the power consumption.
If you want a 55nm miner that hashes at 1 TH, you need a computer 10 times bigger than the same hashpower with a 28nm ASIC.
No magic technology in there. Just an old tech company using old tricks to market their miners.
