Title: System RAM Question for Mining Rigs
Post by: w00tcoin on February 11, 2014, 11:50:55 PM
Is it true that you need good system RAM for a mining rig??

I am having an issue with a rig. For some reason only two of the three cards (280x) will hash at regular rates.

I know its not power ... I have some of the best PSUs you can get.

Is it RAM on this system? It has 2gb.

Nah you only need like 2-4 GB..

If you only run the card with low hashrate, does it hash at normal rate? If not, there's probably something going wrong with the card (it could just be heat -- is temp similar to the others while running?).

If it does hash normally, it's probably not power (outside reason you gave) since that'll tend to present as a lot of hard reboots and components shutting off intermittently. RAM's a pretty reasonable guess.... 1GB runs 2 270s absolutely fine. 2GB may be just a smidge too low for 3 280s.... should it be the RAM, given this is probably close to the edge, you could probably solve by disabling all non-essential system services and programs running in the background.

I have three total cards ... two hash normal.

The other one hashes at like 5% ... super slow.

I am getting 720 khash from my 0,1 GPU

GPU 2 is getting about 35 khash
