Title: I exposed a scam and got negative feed back
Post by: DireWolfM14 on July 06, 2018, 04:23:37 PM
I called a guy out for posting a fake version of a popular mining software, and he used an alt to leave me negative feedback.  Is there a way I can fix that?

The negative feedback doesn't affect your trust score. Leave 'em be.

Don't bother. That's an untrusted feedback with no valid reference. It's not gonna harm your reputation. Have a look on my trust page. After looking at all those untrusted feedback given to me - gives a negative impression/makes me the person that they think of me? Most of those feedbacks are instant biased reaction of the unpleasant experience they had - after getting caught on doing something wrong that they were not suppose to do.

A feedback with valid reference always counts.

Updated a little bit.

I noticed that.  I wasn't sure, and I value my reputation.  Thanks for the reassurance.

No, I can't say that it does.  If anything you seem to wear them as a badge of honor.  :D

Untrusted feedback doesn't show on your rating. Only someone on the default trust list placing feedback affects your trust score.

The person you placed feedback on already got tagged by Suchmoon who has DT (Default trust)

Untrusted feedback can mean it is completely fake or that the person is not on the trust list.
Untrusted feedback is nothing to worry about unless it is true.

This is why when you place feedback make sure that:

1) Get your facts correct (which you did)
2) document them using an archive like https://archive.org/web/ in case the post gets deleted.
3) Always use a reference for the feedback. This way the person reading it can make up their own mind. (which you did)

Trust score will affect you only if you got them from d1 or d2 members. You can see the lists from: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust

Good on ya, OP, for calling out the spammers/scammers, but in the future do what I do when I come across fake mining software threads (and they do pop up quite often): report them to the moderators and in the comment field note the OP is not the official dev and is likely spreading malware or phishing. Usually the thread is nuked pronto.
