As of now the Skeincoin Foundation is a fact. We announce our short-term future plan of development to support the growth, adoption and utility of the coin. To achieve this we have stated a list of actions and implementations which will be released the coming weeks.

What is Skein? What is Skeincoin?
Skeinhash is designed by Bruce Schneier, crypto legend in several projects. Bruce Schneier? Yes Bruce Schneier, cryptography specialist and author of Applied Cryptography(1994) and Cryptography Engineering(2010).  Developer Red Kendra has implemented his creative piece of work together with SHA256 and launched the currency the first of november 2013 without any premine. The coin in itself is similar to bitcoin but.... uses a new Proof of Work (POW) algorithm that is energy efficient, secure and faster. More for less! The first round of hashing is done using Skein, the second using SHA256 (Skein-SHA2). At this moment CPU and GPU implementation is available and the coin is very much suitable for FPGA and ASIC .

So what can we expect in the near future?

1. The Foundation website(Gielbier and Fshock)
A new website  introducing skeincoin foundation with a fresh look will be launched about the plan for support, adoption and utility.
2. CGminer (Reorder)
The CGMiner implementation allows for easier startup of miners into skeincoin.  For a lot of you it is a lot of hasle to implement the current design. In the very near future you can expect this implementation
3. Pushing for Exchanges(Dosmas)
At the moment we are listed at openex.pw and Freshmarket.io. We aim to be listed on a wide variety of trustworthy markets to enhance skeincointrade.  And support a platform through which the currency can be safely traded.
4. Merchant tools (Methmatician and Gielbier)
In the face of future merchants coming up, we need to have the facilities for paymentsystems. Plugins will be developed for a skeincoinpayment system and a wallet which is designed to allow for bulk.
5. PR Active Twitter and Facebook Communication  (Dosmas/Lanochka)
6. Wiki (community)
7. Paperwallet(Methmatician and Gielbier)
The Online SkeinCoin Wallet Generator. Create your Single Wallet, Paper Wallet, Bulk Wallet, Brain Wallet and Vanity Wallet. The Paper Wallet holds multiple base64 pictures. Design made by Surfer43.
8. 3rd Pool
At this moment we have 2 stable pools. As from now we planned to setup number 3 to support spread of networkpower.


On tuesday the 18th of februari next week we will announce more info on availability of the previous mentioned pieces. And more on the role of the Skeincoin Foundation.

dont know where ur stats are from but first get the entire blockchain! Bare in mind this is not a ripe off of bitcoin/litecoin.. its a new coin!

I'm wondering what are the pros of that coin. Will you have Kimoto gravity well for instance?

What about exchanges?? Are you going to promote your coin to coinmarket or swissex or any other exchange?

What a tool! So you just assume THIS was the coin announce and that the getinfo above was signs of a premine etc? This thread is the announcement of the community banding together as a foundation of users pushing forward the needed elements to get Skeincoin broadly adopted.

You can see the announcement of the coin from November linked a couple posts above.

Of all the coins launched in the last 3 months+ at least Skeincoin was innovative and has some real quality community members backing the project, and a developer who answers questions in the announce thread. Red Kendra has been very forthright with responses, reorder crafted a python based GPU miner and shared it as well as helped many evolve it to its current implementation and now a cgminer version will be out soon.

Just because you never heard of it and weren't able to mine it at the start just means you missed the launch. To take a 2 minute look and deem Skeincoin unworthy of your PC HDD space is laughable. To each their own I suppose...

Pro's of the coin are the Skein Algo, FPGA Possibility, energy efficiency and the speed. About the Kimoto Gravity Well, we will look into this. We come back on it next week with further info.

At the moment we have votinglinks at Cryptsy (https://cryptsy.freshdesk.com/support/discussions/topics/45090) and Swisscex.com (https://swisscex.uservoice.com/forums/238010-general/suggestions/5470318-to-ad-skeincoin). Feel free to vote, we need some more. I think Swisscex is already in consideration, with extra votes it might help them decide.

As for other exchanges, we planning to get in contact with all cryptomarkets, c-cex.com, cryptorush etc and push to be settled there too.

Its not scrypt based coin so multipools cant mine it. I didnt see any problems with difficulty adjustments so far.
