Hey I'm new to that crypto game and wanna make some money  ;D

Have bought into BTC and have sent it to bitfinex now and wan't to start trading and investing later.

A friend of me who is in the game for while told me that almost all coins are crap and I should hold only BTC and maybe Monero but not now because prices are still too high.

I'm thinking now about to short Ripple, IOTA, Litecoin and Ethereum.

So my question is what is the most worthless shitcoin that make me the most money with shorting and how low can it go?

At present, the whole market is in a downward trend, and there are too many altcoin, so it is not recommended to invest in altcoin.

Yes I'm using tradingview for it. Have some basic knowledge in TA from trading on indicies and stocks before but these pump and dump market cycles on altcoins are looking crazy lol

Stop deceiving yourself as you will not see any leverage market platform listing shit coins for you to short as they look out for coins with huge volume and community support, not just some pump and dump market. You think if we were all shorting the shit coin market, the like of bitmex and co would still be existing? So you are going to short the best coins when they have already almost reached rock bottom prices. You are going to get burned really fast with this strategy. Instead of trying to trade you should rather just hold your coins for the long term as you are likely going to make much more return on your investment that way.

I would say bitcoin is best for short but you are looking for shit coin.
Don't look for specific alt coin, follow the market, buy on dips and sell when it goes up. Whoever is suggesting to buy specific alt coin is holding it so don't listen to any one here.

Well for starters, you can get into ICOs that are hyped. That many people are so into them. You can check some shillers like Ian Balina, Michael Suppoman for new altcoins to invest on.
For existing ones, I suggest you go into NEO. There are a lot of good things about NEO. and I can say one of them is that "GAS IS CLAIMABLE FOR FREE" your NEO stays with you. Invest now while its still not recovering up to $100.

Try going into EOS too (take note these are all chinese companies so there's a possibility of going down) their mainnet is I think live right now. :)

Before investing you need to learn to analyze the perspective of each coin otherwise you can lose all the money. The most optimal choice is to invest in bitcoin and ethereum.

Why would you gamble with such a big amount of money? I think that it's better to just invest in some serious coins and new ICO's for the long-term( at least 1-2 years). You will be surpsised with what good results you can have just by holding solid coins.

You should start gaining knowledge first by doing your own research at google or watch crypto trading on youtube. Learn from the expert first before you start your trading or you will end up crying since you are not fully geared up. As a trader, I would advise you to stick with 3 to 5 well known altcoins and as you mentioned, Ripple, IOTA, Litecoin and Ethereum actually is a good choice actually.

Of course you shold buy alts. My favourite coin is axpire. They have in advisers Rodger Ver. And the price for it isn't so big. I hold a big amount of axp. Their token is unique, It solves many problems. I think it will give me hundreds per cent. But if you want to name 5 coins, Ok!

Instead of gambling ,you can do bitcoin trading. Ethereum will be the best option for your requirement. Litecoin and Ripple had huge potential as like Ethereum.So you can inverse in this coins to get huge profits. It seems pretty easy to spend $ 10k right now, especially on famous coins. But it would be better if it starts with several different risk levels. Due to long-term investments, it is very possible that we benefit greatly from pumped coins. So some small coins / token will be an attractive gambling for long-term investments.

Maybe Bitcoin has proven that in the long run this coin has produced many millionaires. But of course we also have to see the merketcap and growth potential of the current price range. And for 10k, it looks like you also have to gamble on a coin with a smaller merketcap.

This is just my altcoin suggestions. For main coins, I would say you should have some shares in ETH and BTC, LTC as well if you have an extra money you’d like to allocate

I would approach this wisely of I had 10k.

I would look into bitcoin for the sake of dominance in my portfolio, so buy 3k worth. And get about 30%of one. Not bad id say.

Then put some into one of those protocol coins like ETH, or NEO, QTUM, etc. Those coins have ICOs on them. And that's a huge deal. I think I hear rumor of LTC having this ability in the future. So say we do ETH to be safe. Another 2k in there.

Lastly you need something with higher risk. Cause right now your stacks are in a safe coin. Something that has a high chance of still going up for the next 12 months safely. So let's move to a mid-cap coin.

Not only should it be a mid-cap coin but maybe look into a staking coin? Something that can at least attempt to make you some cash back on a monthly or frequent basis.

Thats actually a pretty big amount to start with. I think the best strategy is to diversify. It will maximize your earnings and at the same time it will minimize your lost. How do you mean when you said gambling? I do not think this is the correct word to use. Any way if you want to buy and hold you can buy Bitcoin and also ethereum. You are properly investing your money to those coins. In my opinion, Litecoin is a good coin, it is fast and cheap fee.

I do not see the point of investing in Monero and Ripple.  I advise you to try some of the money to invest in EOS and NEO.

To gamble you should learn how altcoin work and then buy ethereum half of your $10k another half you can put it in good ico which already reach the softcap like vidy. I heard vidy already collected 16 million dollar so far. I suggest put in to two ico. $2.5k to vidy and $2.5k to mobu, mobu ico will end at 2019 januari so you can not trade your token untill january 2019.

I would suggest you to not go for the gambling. You have plenty of money, You may do something for the present and the future. Gambling is not profitable all the time. At this moment, the crypto market is in bearish condition. Anything can happen anytime. So, better you may learn about the crypto market analysis then go fo live or short trade. Your friend is right, the coins are way too shitty for you to even risk you putting your money in them. The prospects of the coins are way too low, you would really be better off just buying coins like bitcoin, monero and ethereum and holding the coins for the long term until the next bull market. I don't fully understand what you mean by gambling, but for me, if I were to have as much as $10,000, I would split that money into  good parts, and invest them in my all time favorite coins, and hodl them. I think you chose good coins for investment on a short term.  But I do not advise you to be greedy and it's better to sell coins when the price grows significantly.

Since you said gambling, then it means the $10k is a money that you can afford to lose. My simple advice for you is divide the fund into three, use the first to hold Bitcoin , the second for the first top five Altcoins and the remaining for under value solid projects.

Yes, it's a bad idea to gamble in cryptocurrency. And first of all, you need to invest in your knowledge and then you will be more confident in trading or investing. If you will just gamble - you will lose all the money in the end.

Just make sure that you are sticking to the top coins in the crypto industry when you are doing your trading activities. $10K is a lot money and you would not want to end up losing that money because you invested it in some scam coin. With the choices you mentioned I'm going to remove IOTA and Ripple. Litecoin and Ethereum is a good bet to start trading on any exchange that you prefer and make sure that you won't regret holding these coins. DYOR still so you won't regret if something goes wrong.
