For me, FIAT will be the winner, why because in everyday life, FIAT currency is recommended and is a usual use, while cryptocurrencies are still in the process of mass adaption., i mean not all people and business really understand what the crypto could benefit to them, and yet they are still open for further studies. Meanwhile, both of them are in the same level of usage, cryptocurrency is good for fast payments and distance to distance payments.

Im still wondering, in the next few years to come, what would be the future of cryptocurrency, compared to the FIAT currency. Still interesting to  know.

FIAT will always be the winner in next few years until cryptocurrency got legalized worldwide :). You should know that at the moment although cryptocurrency is really well known but not everyone wanna use cryptocurrency because they can't use it in everywhere everywhen in real life but they can with fiat :). But everything will change if cryptocurrency will be legalized worldwide ;)

If you look on the one hand, of course, Fiat money, while they are printed and issued in cash,are of great importance in the world, but on the other hand, 50% of the population and almost all financial transactions in the market are held without cash and in electronic form, they do not differ from the crypto currency, but even inferior to it, because the crypto currency excludes the corruption component. First of all I'm thinking that it is way too early to do those conclusions, and the second thing I would say that we will be successful enough to became winners till 2019, maybe a little bit later.

as trader works with decision on attaining with distinct on numbers of resource on displacement, those helps as the prefers on decision as applying use of crypto token to work as medium of payment to work with deposit of funds as managing plan on investment with crypto currency trading of the finance.

In this case i think fiat currency would be the winner for next 20 years. Fiat currency is very important. there are many places where people don't even have internet connection and struggling for their life. For them, alt coin would be highly expensive to deal with. However, in many countries the popularity of altcoin has increased and it is increasing day by day. So, I think both are need for our future.

each person will say thay the winner is different, becaise we all have different situations and different priveleges

Obviously, Fiat wins. Altcoins will take a lot of time to get into the society into the people but on the other hand, we see that even bitcoin is not even in the society and is not used by everyone but fiat is being used by everyone whether s/he is an educated person or a un-educated person. So, Fiat wins until or unless altcoins or bitcoin take over totally.

The cryptocurrency is still not that popular that we can compare it with the FIAT. We still are dependent on traditional currency for various purposes and crypto is not accepted in many countries too. So, it is obvious that Fiat will win.

It will never be happened, fiat is mostly used to do offline transactiona and it has been supporting by regulators and backed by the bank. In my opinion it's just a trick from the bankers to dominated our economy. Crypto works on the different place because it was creating a new decentralized system which is giving a freedome to everyone to control their asset.

There's no point in comparing both of these thing. Altcoin and fiat goes hand in hand, without the other, you can't fully utilize the other. Let's say you don't have fiat, well you can't buy altcoins therefore you can't use it. And if you don't have altcoins, there's nothing for you to do with fiat except for daily expenses.

I think all possibilities can happen, because we never know what future will come and last. Many things are unexpected but happen at the end of this time. Whatever the winner is either crypto or fiat we have to do is create a balance between crypto and fiat currency. Because crypto or fiat is equally important.

For me i think the both of them are necessary and they won't compete with other, In the end fiat will still rule because no matter the amount of crypto you might have, you still need to convert it to fiat and if you want to invest, you invest with fiat.

Altcoins may give fiat a though competition but fiat currency will also be the first choice of most people due to its stability. Most people keep the money in fiat and only convert to altcoins when necessary so in a way too both currencies need to coexist and its up to we the users to tolerate both.

How about we summarize what is happening in our own countries?

Examples.
Riding a bus. You still pay fiat.
Groceries. They either accept debit or credit card and fiat.
Department stores. Credit, debit or cash.
Other small stores. Fiat only.

Who wins? Isn't it obvious? I cannot even see one single store yet that will accept it. I know soon it will but not 2019.

There will be no winner and we will have both in the stores getting used especially when TENX and MONACO and others get banking licenses and start delivering cards to whole community.Only good thing are coming.Cant wait

I do not think that 2019 will be a year of struggle between Fiat currency and cryptocurrencies, as cryptocurrencies compared to Fiat money are still too weak and do not enjoy such strong demand that we can talk about the struggle.

Fiat will be favourite for a long time i think. It'll probably take at least 5 years before alt coins will be favourite. Or they will be used together.

For me Fiat currency. Fiat currency is currency which only has value through legal declaration. It does not have a promise from its creator of exchangability  into some commodity of real value,example:- Gold ,Silver etc. Fiat currency are basically the Dollars, Euros, Pounds etc. that you spend. They are also known as the paper money.

Compared to fiat, cryptanalysis is more risky and difficult to use than fiat, and I think money can never replace fiat money as many people think.

i believe in solutions and not duration. the number of years a particular thing has stayed is in no way a measure of success. the solutions proffered to challenges is what the world in entirety has decided to look towards since it is more beneficial to them. i believe the crypto currency world has much results than the fiat so i prefer crypto.

This is a vague question because some fiat currencies are more stable than others, and the same is true of cryptocurrencies. I don't know if the bear market in cryptocurrencies will end this year, but if it does it's fair to say altcoins as a group will outperform.

Cryptocurrency is just new digital currency and many people dont know how to use it, and they dont understand how does it work. I think fiat currency still dominate in 2019, and still hard for crypto to replace it. Just for example in my village, they only believe with fiat than digital money, because they think digital money can be fraud.

There are so many alt coins that need to die before those markets can explode...at best it seems like they'd only be able to ride BTC's coattails.  Multiple use cases will have to battle it out to ween out the weak teams or half-baked ideas, infrastructure needs to be developed to utilize the coins, scams need to be outted and driven off.  All that will take time, so we're probably a few years out before we really see the rubber hit the road with a lot of altcoins.

It seems difficult explained what would happen in the future.  because I do not avoid that future cryptocurrency will be more developed and more popular. While fiat money also has a major role in the transactions of each State, in addition is the identity for the country itself and has historical value in it. my own expectation both can coexist, not mutual defeat.

Fiat currency is certainly safer even though the value of fiat continues to decline due to inflation but the total protection of the country makes the fiat last forever, but when the crypto trend is popular then we must invest on crypto to make money increase.

Basically in terms of crypto currency and Fiat currency we can see the huge difference between them because until legalize the crypto by every country Fiat currency will win this race because fiat currency is legalize worldwide but day by day crypto users are increasing so after few years later this conceptions may change.

Not all the countries in the world have adapted the crypto currency market. In fact there are countries who have banned the crypto coins in their countries. So, right now, fiat currency will win, given how the world is still lagging behind. But this will not stick around for much longer in the long run.

I don't think there is any way that we can compare this two thing there are totally different from each other, fiat currency is a printed cash which value is decide by the supplier and government allows it as well on the other hand cryptocurrency is good for fast and far transaction and it is totally electronic based trading

FIAT will remain currency until crypto currency is fully adopted globally, we have different government that imposed one currency for the country we belong, this is the traditional tender in any transaction be it for simple commodities we need, transportation,utilities, etc.etc. The entry of crypto currency into the market change the out look of the future transaction, like for example  Thailand  accepted some of the coins for legal transaction. But some or almost all countries still have some different view on adopting crypto into the main stream market. This is one reason why government financial institution want to Regulate the crypto. Let's just wait for the moment and hold on to our crypto coins.

Crypto will win in 2029.

Well, fiat is still the main source and winner in our world. Cryptocurrency can't compete the fiat currency since not all cryptocurrency are accepted in all countries. We still in the stage of developing and stabilizes  the technology of cryptocurrency.

Obviously crypto is nowhere near yet, far too volatile to be taken seriously as an actual currency for now.

Comparison of similar areas requires a very in-depth analysis of consumption among people and what future areas of use can altcoins have? I think that every business will have its own shares and by similar actions we can buy shares of companies.

Fiat currency is go-to currency everwhere in the world. It is used EVERYWHERE. The world ran on Fiat currency for so long. But sometimes, it can lead to problems. Fiat currency can be stolen and be destroyed. Crypto currencies cannot be easily stolen. Someone can hack and take all your coins, but there are people who try their best to prevent this too. I would prefer a world that runs on Crypto rather than Fiat currencies, just because it is easier to use and is, in a way, a safer way of exchange. But, this cannot happen right now, because not everyone has access to crypto currency, Internet and Technology required for crypto altogether.

fiat is still the first choice of the people. in my city everything we pay is fiat and we don't have option to pay bitcoin. but why do they have to fight? we people that use crypto can access it through fiat and fiat through crypto.

The importance and popularity of the crypto currency is increasing rapidly. It can be assumed that crypto will take over the fiat money in the near future.

If the success of crypto currency is compared to fiat currency then fiat will be the winner for the next coming years. The usage of crypto currency is not used by everyone in the world, a large percentage of people still is not completely aware of alt coin and its benefits. If the government completely accepts crypto currency and if it becomes a medium of exchange crypto currency will become more popular.

2019 fiat will still be winner as more people are using fiat.  however as years go by, people will slowly learn to use cryptos.  institutions will also evolve into using cryptos and this will eventually force people to adopt to cryptos.

Well, I think both of this are on equal ground. If we say FIAT then without doubt it would always be useful even in the next few years. If we say cryptocurrencys altcoins then we will surely have an eye on it.

I do not think that this battle will happen in 2019. Crypto-currency needs daily use to at least somehow be able to compete with fiat currencies. I do not see how crypto currencies can win now, because no one except speculators and investors is using them.

No competition yet, altcoins don't work as a currency yet, nobody wants a currency that changes in value by 10% every day.

crypto or digital currency does have a high technological advantage and innovation. But in addition it also has a risk that is not less high and can not be used by everyone. In contrast to paper currency that is easy for everyone to use, it is recognized by each country issuing it and its value can be adjusted or supervised by the competent authorities. So until now it can not be said that the crypto currency is better than fiat currency.

Well that's a difficult question. FIAT is issued by government and is declared legal, but there's also a large amount of people who depend on the other way, as in the electronic form, where cryptocurrency is also included. I'm not sure about 2019 but by some years cryptocurrency will definitely hold an essential position in people's lives.

We live in the "usability" time so every product should done user friendly. If cryptocurrencies will not become closer to standard user of financial services they will lost and fiat will be the winner.

Strange question, In 2019 fiat currency will definitely be the winner, and in 2020-2025 too, with no doubts. Maybe later... And i know that 99.9 % of forum members are here to gain some fiat via cryptotrading/bounty campaigns/investing.

Why need winners and losers? Cryptocurrency and fiat money can easy exist together

Don't compare the crypto currencies with fiat money for now because crypto is still very early in phase so it needs few decades to compete with the fiat money.We need to compare the growth of crypto in this year,until now it is not been a great year for the crypto currencies since the prices were still hard to recover from the crashes happening all the way since January 2018.

Obvioulsy won't be a battle, fiat always will be winner. Cryptocyrrency had a not a good times now and probably it won't stop in next year, some of country banned crypto. So fiat won this already.

i see cryptocurrency as the winner , this is because the disruptive technology has a lot of advantages over the FIAT currencies. No 1 of it being the DECENTRALIZED AND IMMUTABLE features in cryptocurrencies. for Fiat government policies wont ;let banks and other financial institutions do their work without their intervention.

Fiat money, a currency without intrinsic value that has been established as money, often by government regulation.On the other hand crypto currency is one of the electronic currency which covers 50% of the currenciesx all over the world market.  Fiat money not having use value, has value only because a government maintains its value, or because parties engaging in exchange agree on its value. Alt coins or cryptocurrency stands firmly in case of fast payments and exchanges. Altcoins holds a great amount of potential in todays world.

It's too early, I think.  The Crypto-currency only rises from the knees, and even more so many states that are against the use of the crypt ... Five years from now there will probably be confrontation, and now it's too early!

We meet FIAT in our everyday life, so altoins will lose anyway.

I think altcoin is better, because I think altcoin growth is faster than fiat currency.

If we are only talking about the battle between the two for only next year then no doubt it will be fiat that is to win. We might think that cryptocurrency is widely spread now worldwide (it may be true) but considering the population of the world I doubt if the crypto community even reached 5% of the world's population. So if we are to be positive and say that we are 5% of the population but 100% uses fiat. So clearly cryptocurrency doesn't stand a chance over fiat. But if we are to talk about 30 to 50 years from now, then that is another story.

In 2019, I think that cryptocoin will not be strong to beat fiat right now. It need take more time again for people to adapt in crypto and know more about it.

Crypto obviously, soon there will be things that are going to shock you because many businesses are now adapting crypto. Its happening faster than we think it is, I have a good feeling that crypto will be your first answer if you said fiat now. I’m confident because few projects like Redcab and Liven are way too interesting, Liven is a food payment service which has its own token now and its in presale stage now.

Two are different from each others. Fiat money is government money and we can touch this money and can use any types of transactions on the other hand altcoin is a digital currency we can’t touch them. Altcoins price fluctuating is a common nature of this coin.

if you are talking about the future, the future seems to be closer to cryptocurrencies than to the fiat, there are literally gadgets being introduced in the market which are built around blockchain and cryptocurrencies and if cryptocurrency is the future then alt coins is a default case

Jiaka cryptocurrency is just a new digital currency and many people do not know how to use it, and they do not understand how it works. I think fiat currency still dominates in the coming year, and it's still hard for crypto to replace it. But they only believe in digital money, because they think digital money can be fraud.

Alternative cryptocurrency is my love for all time. I like it for being independent and subtantive, fast raising and high level of profitability in the future.

Currently just about 1% of people in the world know and understand how to use crypto, and more than 90
% does not know what is cryptocurrency and how to use it.  So fiat still dominance in afew years, other reason is many country not regulated crypto yet as digital money that can use for daily transaction.

Alt coins come from bitcoin and reason is why is so popular I do get that Bitcoin is the king and it must have the most effective infrastructure but when it comes to buying and selling coins, I still don’t know why everything has to be tied with Bitcoin. Is there any technical reason.

Why there has to be v/s?? they can go altogether. as of now there is no replacement for fiat due to lack of technical infrastructure. when there will be enough users of crypto as many as  even 25% of fiat users then we can talk about which is better as of now there is no point of comparing them.

It is complicated to compare cryptocurrency and fiat currency as these two currencies perform two different roles. But in the future, as Internet payments become popular, the potential for fiat currency in 2019 will gradually be replaced by cryptocurrency because of the convenience of online payments.

To be honest, I'll put my choice to FIAT currency, since the FIAT currency tends to have more stability on it's value than cryptocurrency.

The winner for what? Altcoin or cryptocurrency has a different function than money fiat. Of course in terms of usage, everyone is free to use cryptocurrency as a payment system with the note that the seller accepts cryptocurrency as a payment system, but it is still hard to find only 1: 1000 who dare to do that. And money fiat, will always be the currency used by everyone, not people who refuse when money fiat used as payment system.

Battle betwwen fiat money of course I'll to fiat money than to altcoins i'm crypto ethusiasm but crypto aren't ready for this competition inti fiat because as far as i know fiat are stable and all we knows fiat are stable currency until now, cryptocurrency are starting to build their stability.

I think this year and a couple of years to come the winner between both of them will always be fiat currency. If you look at the market right now you will see that the coins are not doing too well. But it is the easiest way to gain a large profit. Fiat currencies have legal value. But it, not an investment. So I'm with cryptocurrencies.

I think that it is too early to make such comparisons, the cryptocurrency is not yet ready to replace Fiat.

I think between alternative coins and flat currency is much better to choose alternative coins although flat currency is good and profitable but alternative coins is more good currency and profitable.

Fiat a great thing since it is more liquid  than alternative coins in terms of its solvency but interms of its value the alternative coins in the better one to obtained a greater amount.

Trust in fiat is still to strong, most people are sheeps. Crypto is also to difficult to use for most non tech people and we have some scaling issues etc. I think the future is bright but there are a lot of problems we need to overcome.

Both of them will run according to their functions, and there are no winners, I think that fiat is still used by the community to meet their daily needs, and crypto is still used to trade in the crypto world itself and needs a process if it will be used as fiat.

I would say that fiat will win, because fiat is still more of a legal tender than coins. Some countries are still having controversies over cryptocurrency. Crypto will surely still have its relevance, but in my opinion fiat will still be more in use and larger percentage of world population might prefer fiat to crypto. Some other reasons why fiat will win is the volatility of crypto, whole fiat is still more stable. Also crypto does not yet have a legal backing.

FIAT remains stable and cannot be denied because everyone uses FIAt.
Just look at how the Tether is still standing in the top 10 coinmarketcap and that proves that a lot of altcoins are sinking.
